I have to disagree. The 'diary' posted is but a very small snippet of a document exceeding 1500 pages. From what I've read so far of it; his ideology, religious views, and belief system are at the core of explaining his actions.

There is much of interest in his big text. I won't read all 1500 pages or however long it is, but there are some interesting and revealing passages that give insight into his general psychology and, more specifically, his moral reasoning process. For example:

Fantastically this highlights one of my previous points that pretty much only Norwegian police/special forces would have wounded the guy to disarm him, just look at the US they would have blown his #ing head off, as would UK and most others. Bascally the 'film consists of 4 parts -. called 2083 a declaration of European independance.


In these 4 parts (Which consist of a slide show of propaganda and right wing nationalism) - no actors, no dialogue, just images.

I have only flicked through it - but it seems to be some sort of twisted, right wing pseudo-Knights templar stuff, which attacks multiculturalism.
