Mods.. please move if this is the wrong forum.

So, outside of Columbus Ohio, children at a YMCA day camp had several unexpected surprises in the pool... Someone was going #2 in the water. Is this a problem? Yes.

However, to "rectify" the situation, the camp counselors made the children drop their shorts and bare their behinds to check for "evidence".

Will someone please tell me how this is allowed?

It bothers me that these campers were in 4th to 6th grades..... Thats 9 -12 year olds..... My Nieces age.... and if some one did that to my niece... Id be furious....

I mean, if it is a toddler or baby or something that is one thing.... But these are pretty old kids... Making them drop their underwear in front of everyone like that..... Stupid move....

Im sure it was completely innocent.... But now days, people sue for things like this... People are very quick to make accusations.... You know?

So.... this was just stupid and beyond inappropriate.... Not the way to handle it at all.

Every adult there needs to be charged with molestation.

People are way gonna overreact to this. When I played football we use to have drop pants to show we were wearing a cup. If someone is sh**ing in the pool then what's the big deal.

They were looking at the swimsuits and probably took less than 2 seconds to check. People get offended at stuff way too easy nowadays.

So have the kids go into stalls and hand out their suits for inspection.

Kids shouldnt be told to "drop and spread" at day camp so some perv can stare into the brown cyclops.

A couple surprising responses in here...

I mean come on... You would not be uncomfortable with a complete stranger taking a look at your 9-12 year old childs private parts?

I would be rather uncomfortable. Personally. Apparently the children did as it happened to them... I would to in their shoes.

A cup covers up specific areas. Dropping swim trunks (when there is typically nothing underneath them) is different. And to whoever thinks it is ok for adults to tell 9-12 year olds to drop their shorts and show off their behinds is OK, I hope to hell you don't have any kids.

To be honest, I am a nudist. I prefer to be naked whenever possible. It is nothing sexual, I just feel more free this way. HOWEVER, 9-12 year olds should never EVER be put in a situation where they feel molested, or to quote the child in the article, "uncomfortable".

I dont think it is over reacting, now way would I let my kids be inspected like that, well if I had any lol. Also why didnt you just tap it? I used to have to wear a cup for various sports but all you do is tap it so not sure why you had to do that lol.

Let's not turn this into something it's not.

I would rather have someone check my child's mud cutter.

Then my child get sick from the floating logs.

Are they sure it's not a Baby Ruth...

It's not like they were forced to strip and parade around. So a counseler saw a bunch of kids asses, what's the big deal. We used to run around mooning people for fun when I was that age.

People need to chill out a bit.

That's not a summer camp... that's a child porn ring. Any way you slice it.

If it's my kids at this camp... violence ensues.

I hope you never have kids that end up molested. As someone with that type of experience, your comment is very immature.

I'm sorry did I miss the part where these kids were molested?

I'd be much more concerned about the safety hazards to my child swimming in a pool with crap in it than any civil rights that were violated from someone looking in my kids trunks for 2 seconds.

I think the big deal is that people are afraid to trust anymore. You never know just who you are talking to and things do happen. I am sure you heard about the 8 year old boy in New york who was kidnapped and killed after he got lost walking home?

People are out there and you never know what they are capable of.... 99.9% of people are just fine and harmless but there are people out there... and people are very protective of the children in their lives....

Which is making me wonder if you have any kids in your life... You don't seem to, but I may be wrong.

People are protective of children because you never know who is out there.

Sure, PC is going way overboard now days, but this is not a PC issue.... This is an issue of protecting children against the hidden dangers out there....

I think that is why so many were upset....

I am sure most people in the world would look at a child and not think a thing... But there are people out there... and the anger is because, these parents dont know who their children were made to strip in front of.

It's the fact that some camp counselor, is somehow allowed to order minors to strip in front of them. And since they're looking for "evidence", it would not be far fetched to imagine that they would want to photograph said "evidence".

Sure, dropping a deuce in the pool is not acceptable. But strip searching a bunch of 10 year olds for skid marks is about as wrong of a solution as is conceivable.

molest: to annoy, disturb, or persecute especially with hostile intent or injurious effect www.merriam-webster.com...

To make innocent children aged 9-12 drop their pants and show off areas "for inspection" that they are taught are private areas, is molestation. By the counselors doing so, they are "annoying OR disturbing with an intent of injurious effect." Making children, who are taught (as society dictates) that the behind is a private area, show off their bottoms - injurious effect is possible.

-->> In this specific case that could have been avoided if their parents had told them that it's not ok to cr@p in the pool, and that such behavior will have consequences.

Aged 9-12 they are old enough to understand that.

Let us pretend that EVERY SINGLE kid listens to 100% of what their parents say. Let us also pretend that none of the 65 kids was sick and had uncontrollable issues.

Does that make it right for 64 other kids, who did NOT go #2 in the pool to be searched as they were?
