I posted the following information in another thread.

For the record, according to the Chief of Police and the facebook page: Canton Ohio Police

I want to assure our citizens that the behavior, as demonstrated in this video, is wholly unacceptable and in complete contradiction to the professional standards we demand of our officers. As such, appropriate steps were placed in motion as dictated by our standards, policies and contractual obligations. Those steps included: The officer immediately being relieved of all duty. The incident has been referred to the Internal Affairs Bureau for what will be a complete and thorough investigation. As bad as the video indicates our officer's actions were, there is a due process procedure to follow. That process is designed in the best interest of both our employees and the citizens at large. That process will be followed in this case as in all others. Anyone shown to be in violation of our rules and regulations will be help appropriately responsible as dictated by all the facts. ~Chief Dean McKimm

So it sounds like actions have been taken against the officer.

Jersey just started testing their cops for roid use: www.medicalnewstoday.com...

There is apparently a big problem with it not just in Jersey but all over the country. A massive ring of crooked cops, crooked doctors, and departmental cover ups.

Just the tip of the iceberg.

The best part is thanks to their employment the taxpayers are paying for their roid scripts.

We pay for their guns, training, jails, and the drugs that drive them nuts and their cushy pensions when they're all done abusing us.

Ya know as a Senior Enlisted I had to do my share of what they call, Chaser duty...
that means whenever an errant Marine has gone AWOL and the cops pick them up ...
one us Chasers is asked to go pick them up and drag them back to base...

well I was in Philadelphia to do that several years ago... and yes I carried a side arm, not as a CCW but as a federal agent... and sure enough those Philadelphia PD gave me all kinds of grief....

So much so I ended up filing a grievance with one of there...Wardens???... is that the right word for council member??? I forget..

If they were willing to give me S**t while performing an official duty I have no doubts things would go far worse for a civilian with only a CCW to protect them

They do put candidates through rigorous psychological screening. Something that's always brought up by cop defenders.

I suppose we have to assume that either this one slipped through the cracks or that this officers traits are not viewed as problems. Either way we have a flawed screening process or a flawed institution recruiting lunatics.

Or maybe he developed this complex after being recruited? Give some guys a little power and they can't handle it well, it goes to their head.

Holy crap, this cop has no business being a police officer. He definitely has anger issues and a cowboy mentality. This cop wants to be a judge, jury and executioner!

If this cop hasn't been fired, I hope this video puts pressure on the city to fire him. The driver should also be filing charges against him.

Wouldnt that come back to a failing of the psychological evaluation?

I believe there is no evaluation or background check that can predict future breakdowns or behavior and I wouldnt expect the psychological evaluation to be perfect. Not by a long shot.

It's just that these checks and evaluations are often paraded around as some grand failsafe when the reality is they dont do much of anything.

Perhaps the evaluation isnt flawed so much as the faith the public and the system puts into the evaluation is flawed.

And I agree the job can create this personality. It's been shown over and over that cops degrade the longer they are on the job. Depression and violence are high among them and self medication is abundant. Reams of academic studies have proven that much.

Typical cop on a power trip. I bet he had a pay raise and awarded a gold metal for this fiasco.

It all reality the first thing the cop should of done was run the license plate of the car. This was not done and it would of informed officers of the guys license to CC before the 2nd cop even started searching the car. Its almost like the cops knew he had a gun and was just waiting for him to slip up so they could issue another life ruining felony.

As for all the death threats, this bastard should be fired and charged as a criminal! Protect and serve my ass. More like threaten, intimidate, lie and ruin your life with a felony!

I really do hope the earth is gonna be "Cleansed" soon to hell with all these American fascist!

There has been a huge uptick in cops "juicing" (using steroids) lately, and this is a very clear example of a "roid-rage".

It is either going to take internal enforcement of these lunatic cops, or external executions of the lunatic cops to change things around. I am hoping the departments handle it internally before us citizens have to take up arms and eliminate the problem ourselves.

Obviously he needs to lower his dosage of 'roids down quite a bit before he really goes out of control and finds himself in jail or expired.

The government likes to accuse the average Joe on the street of being a terrorist, but I think the poor average Joe in this video was terrorised by a blatant pig.

To threaten with execution is a terrorist act.

This pig should have to face exactly what he put the victim through.

The parking on the roadway is bogus because other cars could pass by easily.

Hope he sues not only the police department but also civilly against the pig himself for the terror threat of execution.

If people object to the word pig, they obviously haven't watched the video.

Just to update the status on this situation. Myself and many others are demanding answers on the Canton, Ohio Facebook page..

Canton Police Department (Ohio) - In response to the questions about the status of the officer in the video; again, we must follow due process and at this time he has not been fired and he is on paid sick leave. The results of a thorough investigation will be turned over to the safety director for a decision.

They still have not given us the officers name. He definitely does not deserve a vacation. His actions demand termination and/or imprisonment. In addition, rumor has it the Prosecution has told the man all charges will be dropped only IF he agrees not to pursue legal actions against the Police Department.
This is ridiculous!

Drop the charges if he doesn't seek legal action?

How can they do that? That crooked deal is reason enough to believe your case is a lock and not only sue the cop but the entire department, city and every suit employed at city hall.

That deal offered is proof positive that the whole system is a giant pointless scam worthy of nothing but contempt.

To go further it's more than disgusting that this all operates on threats. The cops threaten you with jail often going so far as to threaten assault or rape in jail if you dont comply, the attorneys threaten jail if you should happen to find something wrong with the cops threatening you, the administrators threaten you if you dont pay to fund the other threats against you.

Then the nation threatens other nations.

America is apparently one giant threat.

All I have to say is both cops should lose their jobs. The first cop needs to be stripped of his badge for treating a United States Citizen like trash and threatening his life when he sworn to protect and serve the citizens of America. The second cop needs to be stripped of his badge for just standing around and allowing this to happen.

I bet you back in the old days that a couple of sheriff's would never ride up on a group of gun carrying people with an attitude such as this cop had displayed.

I'm still doing some digging around. The officers name is Daniel Harless.

From the sounds of it, this officer is just going to get a suspension and a slap on the wrist. Unless the victim who was threatened with execution files a law suit against this a-hole, he'll be back on the force. Remember this name "Daniel Harless", guaranteed we'll hear his name come up again in the not so distant future. He's a loose cannon.

Wow those cops were grade A assholes, it's seeming to become a more dangerous world to be a CCW holder. Of course if the guy in the video had just got his hookers off of Craigslist this would have never happened. I have a CCW but I'm not 100% sympathetic to this guy, now if they just pulled him over for no reason or even a busted brake light and this happened I'd be much more sympathetic.

Why is it that people who should NEVER be allowed the authority of Police officers seem to make up the majority of the Police Force.

There is no way in hell this abusive, aggressive, idiot should ever have been able to become a Police Officer.

It's disgusting.

You worry about martial law? How would it be any different to that?

Here's one good reason www.cbsnews.com... I belive a member posted up some information about a year ago talking about how the armed revenue collectors are starting to hire people like this deliberately. I can't remember which thread it was in but I'm sure many of the people reading this thread read that one, hopefully someone remembers.

Well if your just going to assume what he was up to without proof, you might as well assume that he was going to shoot at the officers and then they could have just executed him like they threatened to and go on with their lives without losing any sleep. the accusation of hiring a prostitute was only ammunition to justify the lack of extended rights. lol and i didn't know that there were prostitutes on CL, that site really does have everything.

Not to sound too offensive, but that guy is lucky he is white. if he was Latin or African.... well i bet it would have went much worse. Hate me all you want but you know im right.

I am the last guy to usually suggest new legislation. (Firm believer there are way, way, way, too many laws on the books now so politicians can feel good).
That said, I propose legislation that when a police officer acts like this, first offense no second chances, the case should be reviewed by an outside source (not IA) and that officer not only is not an officer any more, ever, but is charged with a felony, something along the line of "a public servant abusing their position". Suggested 5 to 15 years. This should apply double to elected politicians. No...triple.
