8-3-11 Creepy Website! Can We Figure Out The Code?!?!

This is a condensed version of the entire thread so far. Please read if you have not read anything else, thanks so much! - Currently I'm attempting to post a recap every 5 pages or so - the link will be in my signature.

What we know from the formspring Q & A (external link)
- Members of 8•3•11 go by names of 18,000 68,000 175,000 (there were more but I lost them)
- 8/15 is Jake's birthday (no clue who Jake is..)
- They like the constellation Cassiopeia
- They use the Gregorian calendar
- They are not terrorists
- They have a female member and a member in South Africa
- They don't drink coffee or smoke
- They claim this is not related to money in any way
- They claim this is not related to aliens in any way
- They claim it is a "recantment" of some kind.
- They claim it COULD be considered art (as speculated by several people throughout the thread)
- Correction here from previous updates regarding SAM
- - - it was pointed out to me by Neil1972 that they claim they have one Non-Human Member named SAM (dog? cat? pigeon? algorithm?)
- Sam is listed in the "site info" on page 3 by DesertedIsland
- The responder on the Q&A also claims to be "nervous" about the upcoming date.
- Whatever THEY are doing is because YOU won't
- They claim it will NOT be illegal

Its been noted by dethduck that
- "Sam" runs the facebook page (guessing 175,000 didn't have that info at the time?)
- "He (175,000) already said on the Formspring that it's a photoshop of two pictures of the same person. One when she was six"
- That conetproject (external link) is a copycat
- Confirmed by p4rs3c on page 13 (the link jump doesn't work)

dethduck called (conet) out here, AND!! explains the Conetproject in detail here! (the id jump isn't working but its at the very bottom) - They are absolutely not related.


Other Interesting facts mentioned
- 8311 spells BELL - and "Belle" is supposedly 83 years old.
- 83113 is the Zip Code for Big Piney, Wyoming. (thank you BrnBdry
- 8+3+1+1=13 (thank you Phasma
- - This follows the thinking that it is somehow related to Mary Bell, child murderess mentioned by Libertygal on page 3 - her partner in crime was 13 years old
- tsawyer2 had a good theory with 18,000 troops to afghanistan, another 68,000 added last year, and as of 3/31 a total of 175,000 total troops
- IceFlower is sure that these numbers are not radio frequencies
- potential_problem found some interesting things in the mp3 ID tags.
- harlot7 noted there were email addresses ending in *.gov (potential thinks its not a real list, but its up for speculation)


The overall consensus is that this'll turn out to be a religious thing (re: john 8:3-11; and the cork tree information posted by DustbowlDebutante)

Other speculations include ..
- a sociology project.
- a marketing gimmick for a game/movie release
- an announcement regarding the holocaust
- something to do with Elenin entering the atmosphere on August
- something to do with the US debt deadline on 8/2
- some type of ARG (Alternate Reality Game; speculated by Zyril here

That is an awesome catch on what most of us assumed to be a joke. And, even if it was a joke, it shows a rather high brow sense of humor, which, in itself, is rather telling.
Really nice catch.
Now, the science of you link was beyond be. Someone else figure out how it applies here!

Yes, I was thinking it could be about a software release as well. Has anyone mentioned the following concept: 8*3*11= 264. I've been going through every calculation of the numbers I could think of. As well as every Mormon connection, astronomical ideas, etc.

Then I saw on another site that someone mentioned Google dropping H.264 from Chrome and the shock waves that announcement has sent around the tech community.

Not saying this is the 100% verdict but it's worth some further digging. Copyfight vs. copywrite?

Just book marking. Gotta go watch beetlejuice with my daughter!

The question and answer that you posted before is a scene from the movie. I really think it was someone's idea of a joke question, their answer implies that they got the joke and responded accordingly. Nothing more.

help me out darlin - give me a synopsis - trying to keep up with everyones posts and information to include in recaps ♥

It's kind of creepy but my eyes caught something I didn't see mentioned in the first 9 pages. I don't know if anyone has brought it up yet I am multitasking at the moment but on the web page when you click on the '' sightings '' link most of the pictures have the University of South Florida logo on it.

I don't know WTH it is and i'm not a scholar of coding, nor intend to try to be, the only thing I have in common amoungst many things going on this year is the number 11.

I find it odd there are soo many things pointing to an American source yet this is most popular outside. I always keep an eye open for things to fall apart or for thing(s) to occur, nothing gets me worried, this is just something else to add to the list on here.

Disregard all my posts. Apaprently as he said there's somethign wrong with my eyes and I just don't see reality as it is. It's still kind of creepy though and sorry for wasting the time of those who read what I ahd to say. Even though the game suggests that going to houston would be as going to the gay brothers or gemini or whatever I don't care anymore. I think I'm going to smash through that belief and see what, if anything actually happens. The work of art comment is nice though. reminded me of the perspective game where one erin said about yoga... "it's beautiful the positions you can contort yourself to in the end" As in being hammer, twisted and messed up during this so called crucifixtion lol...

Whatever man I ain't done anything to deserve this hellish mind control nightmare of whatever it is psycho SAM ( IAM) and the adams family up there are dewlivering unto me.



Also, I think I may actually just go to amuse those doing this to me, I like the Re V Lover and the 357 magnum Pi part the best. Maybe i'll pretend it's not a gay guy thing and jsut go chill out for a while afterthis 35 years of miserable life

I just asked on their question page if any of their numbered members are also members of this site....just waiting to see an answer.

IMO, this is some sort of programmers group or possible hacker group who intends on retracting one of the programs they designed in order to distribute it freely starting on 8/3/11. From little parts of their answers, I suspect it could be some sort of security software & that is why they insinuate that it makes them nervous, but no one would be harmed by them.

Part of what lead me on this path is the copyfight at the bottom of the page. I've seen this term several times before & each time it was in regards to someone who was against intellectual property laws.

I think the illness they speak of is how our society being complacent with the slow erosion of our right to be informed.

I think Bella is the face of the masses so to speak. Ironically, she was "born" right about the time the US stock market crashed. We are now on the verge of potentially another economic nightmare so I'd say this could be some sort of security software they are taking back that will have an affect on our economy.

I could be totally off, but hacking groups seem to be coming out of the woodwork lately.

Okay. So, I used a Youtube-to-MP3 converter, and plopped the audio into Audacity, and reversed it.

When played backwards, there's a melodic tune to it. Almost like carnival music, and I can clearly make out someone saying, 'Help, help, help'. Everything else though is kinda distorted, maybe in a different language.
