I think the answer to that is that this mystery and the chase for the answer has touched many aspects and genres that drew us all to ATS in the first place. We have come up with theories so diverse, yet so inclusive of many different boards here. The draw here is that the mystery is so simple (lack of information) and yet so complex (so many intuitions and connections). As for moderator involvement, I expect the lack of it is because overall we are working on this as a team without fighting amongst ourselves.

This thread has brought alot of people together from diverse interests and backgrounds in a great conversation.

I have learned more about things I wouldn't have in this thread than any other single thread on ATS since I joined.

This thread exemplifies teamwork at its best, IMHO.

The very fact that there has been no need for mod involvement just shows the quality level of response to an interesting subject - whatever it turns out to be.

We are working together toward a common goal - not even taking the time to bash someone else for their thoughts - no matter how trivial or far-fetched they may seem to be - because one is just as plausible as the other.

I would go for some standard anon logins, unless they just reconfigured the passwords, or removed anon capability, and restarted. All just depends on their permissions and what they expect.

Maybe someone had a dictionary password, and they changed it for security. Lots of explanations why it went down, but paranoia is a preserver!

Perhaps they want email via anon logins.

Not sure if this was posted yet, but keys in French is cles. One of the pic is labeled as cles!

For what it is worth I am here to learn and help others learn on their search for truth in life,whatever truth may be. I just have not posted the past few days because of time constraints and a lack of info to add to the flow of conversation. I would not be surprised if someone in connection with the 8*3*11 website is posting red herrings,starting animosity,and keeping an eye on things. Not saying its a truth but it would not surprise me. I am also curious if this whole thing was an experiment or something that got infiltrated and is now turning into something else.

Thinking the same here., people need to read the recap. The same things being posted over & over when its been done 100 pages ago. Sh#tballs man.

I've got into this a few days ago and quickly dipped back out. I'm not tryign to run in and scream or have anyone say they agree with me but I really think (still) that we are being had by a viral marketing campaign. Perhaps not the exact one that I agreed upon so many pages ago, but one regardless. It seems that there is to much info much of it nonsensical and inconsequential add to that the fact that whoever is answering questions on their site is clearly jerking everybody around and answering whatever they wish while deleting evidence and spinning everything to mislead and really not answer a thing.

If you all want to keep going on then by all means I commend you, however when 8.3.11 or whenever they decide to reveal whatever turns out to be a movie page or CD for some second rate band know that the answer is sometimes just the simplest one and not some great big conspiracy.

Btw in my opinion someone in here is a mole and we're all being taken for a ride, which in the long run I feel is going to be used to help garner attention for whatever.

In closing I will say that I am extremely impressed by the amount of work being done in here perhaps the lot of us should move on to something important like trying to expose the so obvious its disgusting false flag operation that just took place in Norway..................... just a thought.

I will not be surprised or upset regardless the outcome. I would be pretty nervous about delivering something good if I were the 8-3-11 folks. There may be a ton of backlash from certain elements out there.

Well, ok, I think we can take away from that they don't want to be involved with chan/4/, as in aligned with them.

It's too late. This thing originally broke on 4chan /b/ and /x/ a few weeks ago. I think 8•3•11.info posted there with the link to get the word out, now they don't want to be involved "anymore" than they already are. THAT I can accept. Sure.

Anon should allow any password or even null which makes me think it's a real FTP server with specific userids...

a thought...since I just happened upon it by chance...perhaps it is not part of the enigma but set up for their members to pass images or messages to one another as an alternative to email...

I did post my userid list though....

that would make me panic and change my password if I saw mine on it...

Yeah I found this on /x/ and went from there. Haven't seen a thread there for awhile though. If i's a company I doubt they want the association. Which they're going to get regardless.

It was discussed here many times that the question about it being a some sort of promotion was asked and the reply was NO. They said they do not promote any book, movie or anything that they can have a profit from....That's exactly what makes it so interesting to me.

True, but some anon ftp servers took the user requesting connection email as suitable for login ID.

Perhaps they have log /off, but I wouldn't bet on it.

That was what I had been led to believe. For all I know they leaked the code on /x/ intentionally. Some pretty sharp kids over on /x/ so I wouldn't put it past them.

Been reading this thread for quite a while...Thank you to those consolodating. This is a fun journey we find ourselves on. I don't have much to add except that a couple were speculating on the Country of MIchigan. Perhaps it is not Country as in nation, but rather country as in not in the city.

Forgive if this is rehashing, but with so much here, it is getting difficult to keep up.
