There are so many threads on this site with all the same re-hashed utube videos, mis- intepreted scientific journals, mis-quoted nasa specialists and flat out lies made up by people who do not have a clue.
Threads that go on for hundres of replies, many stars and flags.
To read all of the posts is overwhelming, with constant flaming and bickering.

If there was really something coming towards us, how would one actually be able to distinguish a real alert from a false one.

Boy who cried wolf syndrome.

Some members on here a very knowledgable so maybe they are able to do the prescreening.
There is also many theories and an aweful amount of work that goes into screening them.

So if there was an anouncement that someone has found out the truth, What would be the evidence required to prove it here on this site.

Thankyou

Hell no, nobody would believe it. I mean sure the nuts from GLP will. But everybody else would've broken down or ran down the street screaming by then. Insanity talks and Niburu walks, nobody would believe it if it was in front of them anyways. Project Bluebeam, CGI or Optical illusion.
Nobody believes anything anymore, not to mention the nuts who think we live in a hologram......life is just too damn complicated to understand some of this crap and we shouldn't stress our lives out over it. S & F OP.

hi guessing...

i am thinking it would be nice if all the "amateur " astronomers out there,
with their telescopes,
why cant they just post pics/vid of what they are actually seeing...

of course people are gunna come on and say "u cant see a brown dwarf"....

but there are other ways of measuring whats out there too...

alll the NASA probes etc and the availablity of this data on the NET
should have ended this debate AGEs ago...IMHO

Amen sweetheart, but we're still talking about niburu and it's been coming since 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007 and so on

hi Heartisblack,,

it gets frustrating, yes...

things do not just arrive / appear / show up, without having come from somewhere...

so we usually have a fair amount of notice when things are heading our way...

not always (for small stuff) , but YES for BIG things...

anyway,

There will always be people who believe in everything they hear, and there will always be people who never believe in anything despite overwhelming proof. If proof of Nibiru came into existence and was backed up by thousands of scientists, the question would no longer be, "Does Nibiru exist?", but will turn into, "Is it a planet on a(n) (un)natural orbit, a dwarf star/spaceship controlled by the Annunaki in order to come back to Earth and collect all the gold the Federal Reserve has gathered, a hologram created by our own government to put the final piece in place for the Grand Hoax on December 21st, 2012, or an optical illusion created by the Earth's weakening atmosphere due to Global Warming?"

Thats the beauty of Disinformation I suppose , we would never know what the real facts were and the fear mongering.

You make a good point about the boy who cried wolf syndrome. I would have to see some kind of evidence that couldn't be denied at all. I see people posting stereo imaging and graphs and all kinds of stuff. The problem is, I am not an expert on reading these things. I can learn and follow along, but for anyone who doesn't have a lot of experience reading these things, they often just don't realize that what they are looking at might just be a typical anomaly. That being said, I don't mind if people post things they think even if they are wrong.

If you start relying on a few "trusted" members to be the look-out, you might miss it altogether. Many things have been discovered or realized by the average person over the years. I think it's great to have members who are knowledgeable about certain things, but things can still slip past them.

I have not seen any convincing evidence that something is headed this way.

If multiple astronomers announced it, I'm sure the government couldn't cover it up, they'd be forced to corroborate or deny. I'd only believe it if I heard from credible sources - astronomers, some media outlets and governments. Nutcases on YouTube and GLP never have real evidence, it's all conjecture.

If it was posted on ATS, I guarantee that the first two pages will be people debunking. Then Phage will show up to give a scientific analysis, maybe not even dealing with the issue at hand. Two pages of people agreeing with Phage that it is not scientifically possible, and modern science is always right. By the 5th or 6th page, the thread would be derailed onto whether the Bible is true or not. By the 10th page, it will turn into a Israel/Palestinian thread with smatterings of posters reading only the OP and bringing up John Titor.

Typical ATS.

I try to read every thread with an open mind, but most of the time threads on this subject do not even come close to standing up to any scientific scrutiny (my background is science). The first bit of proof I require is simple: tell me how you came to find your evidence so that others (or I) can repeat it. Then we will go from there. I think it would be awesome to have an ATS member be the discoverer of something new and/or unconventional... But I'm not going to hold my breath.

More generally I think people need to think twice (or thrice) before they post a new thread relating to a scientific field. We've got way too many "experts" whose sole source of info is YouTube. Before posting a new thread (and this is why I will probably never start my own thread) you should ask yourself "is this truly an original thought/finding with a way to validate it?" and if the answer is no, then you shouldn't post it... If your immediate answer is yes, then you're probably wrong and you shouldn't post it
... at least until you can work it to a point where the finishing touch will be to gather independent, corroborating evidence.

assuming that there would need to be some sort of population panic control, the news gets buried and collababorative efforts are made to surpres the info.

Then someone comes along with undeniable proof from an astronomer who blew the whistle and posts it here.

Is that going to be enough?

See for me, when it comes to hard evidential proof, I'm not interested in obviously well funded websites or NASA data etc as they are all in a compromised position regarding the data they release.

For me to take some evidence seriously, the person providing the evidence would have to be someone that has proven their integrity in other areas on ATS already and demonstrated that they really do have mankind's best interests at heart and are not puppets to the MSM or some other funding body/organisation.

But that's just me, who knows what other ATS'ers use to determine the legitimacy of a source.

But, what is a good list of evidence. details

etc. maybe a bullet point sytem that removes the question of doubt.
verifyable source?. non u tubeetc.

maybe a check list for authentication?

This board is sooooo full of disinfo agents -they don't even hide anymore. They flaunt it through their avatar photos and numerology names.

Satan and his minions can't have you recognising the signs in the planet, moon, stars, and heavens, now can he? All religions describe the same events, just ascribe different names.

And there, I brought in the God factor to this post before the tenth page

maybe you could put together a disinfo suspect list

that would narrow it down

What I'd be interested to see is some kind of scoreboard system where it has several columns of data

Username ,,,,, Number of topics attempted to Debunk ,,,,,,,, Number of topics started ....... Number of own topics debunked

What that would provide is some pretty handy information to sort out who are debunk trolls, disinformation spreaders etc

Most users would have probably debunked some posts from time to time.. but the "professional" debunker would have a very low personal post count, high debunking attempt score, and probably a moderately low number of their own posts debunked..

A disinformation spreader would have an average to low number of topics they have attempted to debunk, a very high number of topics started.. and probably a very high quantity of topics also debunked.

now a good source of information will also have similar stats to a disinformation spreader except that they would probably have not started any where near as many new threads..

as an after thought, it would be handy to have a category that shows frequency of posts per week / day as an average and when they joined ATS.

I wonder where I would end up in this type of table/database/list?
