What a Palestinian.

I once wore a full sized, wooden dinner table on my head during a job center appointment.

As a fellow Pastafarian I support him fully.

If you're going to believe in mystical nonsense why not make up your own.

I fully understand this. "I don't want to kill people, or risk my life", "God forbids me from fighting in this war", I don't see why the latter is so much more effective at getting out of a draft. I don't see why (vauge on the story) muslims demanding special treatment from the TSA should be adhered, when we would all like less invasiveness. I don't see Christians demand getting off work free on their holidays, when every other faith has to use one of their given break days for theirs. I could name more.

Any freedom that can be claimed under god, should be claimable under the premise of morals or principles.

I've always wondered, Pastafarians 'believe' that Gay people are the FSM's anointed, and are suppose to marry. Why hasn't it even been taken to court that a state wasn't allowing their religious beliefs to be followed solely because of others traditions and the belief of Christians?

Irie Pasta, irie.

Thanks for this post OP, I needed a good pick-me-up. Good on this man, Pastafarians have been held down for far too long.

Star for that one my friend. So many hateful atheists out there. Their only goals: to flaunt their supposed intellectual superiority, and to try to make everyone else as miserable as they are.

I think the guy with a colander on his head is probably having more fun with his life than you seem to be. Food for thought, no?

I'm not sure if you are now referring to the man that is the subject of this discussion or your peers on ATS. If you are directing it towards the man in question I would add this:

I doubt it is/was his intent to mock people's religious beliefs as much as it was to exploit and make fun of the system. I bet the men/women who took the picture and provided his ID were laughing at the ground level. Of course I can not be certain, but neither can you.

I have plenty of fun. He spent 3 years petitioning the government to wear a strainer on his head. He wastes his time with hateful condemnation of religion. I win.

I refer to the types of atheists that have made it their cause in life to demean people of faith.

Nothing is 100% certain, however knowing the kinds of atheists I mentioned, I'm pretty sure of his motives. Where is the "fun" in meeting with other people to be in a fake religion? The "fun" is to be with "people like you", people who also arrogantly condemn faith, and derive enjoyment from the act of doing so. Q.E.D.

Does he really believe in the flying spaghetti monster? No? Then it's not his religion...

But the question is will people believe it to be true 2000 from now? After all people believe a man walked on water, raised the dead and turned water in to wine!

It's also important to realise that it is only the followers of a religion that believe it. The founders of the faith and current leaders know the credo to be fabricated nonsense.

All hail the flying spaghetti monster!!

I don't recall supporting anyone of faith demeaning atheists simply for being atheists. Nor do I see that in daily life. On the internet, arrogant atheists attacking religion is about 100 times more common than arrogant fundamentalists attacking atheism, and atheists almost invariably start the arguments.

What I do attack is arrogant dismissal of faith by bitter trolls whose only joy in life is destroying others' joy. That's you, friend.

First of all I must declare a bias here. I spent most of my formative years being beaten, by "Educators" of faith and believers of the "One True God" so perhaps my comments are slanted.

As has been already mentioned The Church of The Flying Spaghetti Monster originally came to light when an Oregon graduate named Bobby Henderson wrote to the Kansas State Board of Education after it's decision to include the teaching of intelligent design as an alternative to evolutionary science

Open letter to the Kansas State Board of Education

If it is acceptable to teach students that ideas and beliefs derived from an anecdotal series of books, revised many times through the centuries, often by people with severely biased personal power agenda's, as a science then surely anyone else's belief system is equally as valid. I believe that religion is a personal matter and I have no issue with anyone's beliefs as long as they don't infringe on my freedom not to believe.

As a 6-year-old, caught talking in church, I was beaten and forced to stand on my desk in class while my teacher ( a catholic nun ) told the class in rich detail how I was going burn in the everlasting fires of hell. I support the idea of Pastafarianism because any system based on purely faith is as valid as the next one, I also support it because it's fun. If we can't laugh at something, I believe we are taking it way too seriously and down that road lies book burning, hatred and death. We have seen far too much hatred and death throughout our history because someone thinks their faith based deity is bigger and better then someone elses.

Just imagine if he would have dedicated the last two years of his life to something worthwhile, like helping the poor, homeless, orphans, elderly, or doing ANYTHING of value. He certainly seems capable and imaginative but unfortunately he's just a waste of space.

To think, my DMV had the nerve to ask me to remove my baseball cap for my DL photo. I now have hat head in my photo that I have to live with for another year until my renewal. Baseball is a Summer religion in my area.

....Must file lawsuit.....

I don't think lampooning religion works. People subserviant to a particular "Religion" just won't get it. On the other hand, maybe it will free someone from the tyrannical yoke of religion? Peace.

You Christians have a lot of nerve slamming him for this claiming that he is doing this to poke fun or mock religions. You are simply getting all whiny and defensive over this due to having your fragile beliefs threatened.

Honestly, the Flying Spaghetti Monster is about 10 times more reasonable of a belief than the idiotic christian FAIRY TALE stories.
