What's wrong with pollution anyways???
There is nothing to be done really, stop punishing
Polluters for being successful!
Clearly big business owners have conspired to
Increase their costs by devising this scheme.
You cannot stop pollution.

This is a sad day for the world

Wow, what an ignorant view of the world!!

I know some people who disagree with your views:

Pollution concerns all of us. Look up the rates of cancer increasing, with many studies claiming pollutants being the cause. The cases of astma are on the rise as well.

To say we shouldn't act is beyond lunacy!!

Now, the real question is, does the tax help? Well, if it forces companies to come up with new innovative ideas to cut down on harmful emissions, YES. Another positive outcome would be to use that money to make up for all or at least some of the harm caused. Find new and innovative ways to offset the emissions somehow.

The disappointing outcome would be, if all that money raised by taxes would be used for something completely non-related, like defence expenditures, or building roads.

I haven't read up on that tax enough to know what they're going to do with the money, and if it's being used to offset pollution, or just as a deterrent.

Clean air is dangerous to people's health because it makes people weak.
It is like food, feeding people who hungry and lazy makes them full which
Makes them sleepy and lazy. That makes them more lazy and more hungry
Same rule applied to pollution, if you are not getting enough you get sick when
You are introduced to it.

Q and A tomorrow night will be interesting.

She's gonna get some tough questions with no time to prepare.

Q&A are gonna be tough on gillard?
you've got to be joking mate, have you seen they way the treat people who are against the carbon tax ? The ABC is so biased it's a joke,This stupid tax isn't going to change the world pollution level at all,
All it's gonna do is cost blue collar jobs for a green collar fantasy.

Even if the Libs win power they will not be able to get rid of this tax as the greens will still control the senate,Bob Brown love has stated he will block any attempts by abbot to remove the CT,Yes the greens will go against the will of the Australian people for their own fantasies,

Carbon credits and carbon taxes.

Who gets the money. Who gets rich.

When you investigate you find its the same people that push for Carbon credits and carbon taxes.

This sounds more like a mafia protection racket.

Carbon Dioxide by decree from the EPA is not even a pollutant !
www.epa.gov...

CO2 is the source of life.
If you are serious about doing good, then tax the crap out of Carbon Monoxide and allow the alternative fuels to enter the market. I believe Australia is one of the innovators of making fuel from rubbish / water etc.

As an Aussie, this going to be right royal screw up. I have 2 kids and on below avg wage... she's going to give me a whopping $220 to fund my increases! My electricity bill increase by $10/wk gas by $9/wk ... but they plan to increase the tax threshold to $18k allowing (at current situations) another $500 at tax time... so i must pay now to maybe receive tomorrow??? But i can guarantee you that accountants will take a piece of that pie.

There WILL be massive strikes and blockades in the coming months ...
I personally would like to see the power companies shut down for one day as a protest and see how the greens like that !

Lavenlaar, I feel for you. I am not sure how I am my family will be affected yet. If it was just the carbon tax alone it might be ok. We will only recieve an increase in the FTB A & B, and $3 in income tax for the year.

I am worried about the impact of the CT and our state taxes. I live in Adelaide and it was already known that our utililies (eg. electricity an $310 a year, water an extra $190 a year) were going to raise in cost by due to infastructure upgrades, also along with we have seen recent raises in state duties such as rego etc. I am actually thinking of leaving the state as it seems we are the highest taxed in the highest taxed country. I guess we will all see, but one thing is for sure we are witnessing the the downfull of a once great country.

I fully agree with you. In fact...I worked it out what this carbon tax will mean after paying it and getting some of it back.....I'm actually going to be approx $35.00 worse off and more each year as it increases by 2.5%.

The question is.....will JuLIAR Gillard see the remainer of her term until the next elections?

whats annoying me the most about this whole carbon tax is trying to get it through peoples heads CARBON DIOXIDE IS NOT A POLLUTANT!
Trees need CO2 to breath, we need trees to breath (a lot of people don't know this but they pump CO2 into enclosed green houses otherwise the plants would die)
We are Carbon based life forms
What do you think those bubbles are in your coke?

Yep,your correct.I find it hard to believe that the majority of people in Australia have seem to forgot something simple they should of learnt in school called the photosynthesis process, because if they know about the photosynthesis process, they should know that plants use CO2 to convert it to O2.

Therefore, without CO2,what are plants going to convert to create O2 for lifeforms to breath?!?

Have people forgot this or something?
