The News of the World closure sounds like damage control to me, the really sad part is that honest hard working people that are not corrupt are the ones that will suffer from losing their jobs while the corrupt people get away with it all

I was watching that news story and as much as I tried listening to the details I was more interested in the fact that the CEO at the centre of inverstigation was a woman.
She got all the info and a powerfull position.
Sorry, just had to share, you dont see many women in a position like that.edit on 5-7-2011 by Sinny because: (no reason given)
To quote a song title
''the female of the species is more dealy than the male''
Rebekka Brooks is VERY close to Murdoch, he treats her like one of his daughters apparently......
She was around when some of this was going on and if she wasn't aware of it then she must be either
(a) incompotetent at her job or (b) aware and possibly frantically covering tracks ??

n solidarity with colleagues at the News of the World, tonight Sub-Editors at The Sun newspaper have walked out of work in protest.
At the same time as the protest, inside the building, News of the World staff were being told about the redundancies.
The company has told staff they will receive a 90 day payment which covers the legally required consultation period for job cuts.
This exposes the cynical deceit of James Murdoch who earlier today said: “We will communicate next steps in detail and begin appropriate consultation.”
I guess some of these guys will now remember the importance of unions
