Iran Ridicules July 4th: America is Not Independent

I celebrated the 4th of July...

But, I celebrated the freedoms and liberty we used to have...before Obama, W Bush, Clinton, GHW Bush, Reagan, Carter, Ford, Nixon, and LBJ. Now that's looking back a long ways. All the way back to when I was in High School (and I'm 64),...back to the last true patriotic president we had (and he wasn't perfect), John F Kennedy. We all know how he had to pay for his independent thoughts.

Yeah, that's how I celebrated the 4th of July...Fond rememberances of Liberties lost and freedom trashed.

It was actually the Israelis who attacked the USS Liberty and NOT the Iranians.....or Egyptians....or Libyans....or other Muslim country. Israel did this to promote the hatred for Islam....because they hold the most OIL.

Good point, actually. Long on talk, short on action, that's us in US these days. Interestingly enough, our Constitution effectively permits, even places a moral imperative on us, to oust our corrupt government. So why don't we do anything? We're all too busy blaming each other, trying to feel superior to the guy down the street, and fighting to keep our own little piece of cold comfort and security intact.

We've got problems, we cause problems... and we ought to do something about it. The observation from Iran is correct, and it's certainly not the first time foreigners have pointed out the obvious to us.

As for the guns, yes we are pretty well-armed as citizens go, and that's a good thing. I'm gathering that a number of people on this thread (including you?) are British- my understanding is that you are not well-armed? Is this correct?

Live there for one year and come back and post again. My view is that if you define your freedom based on who controls your money then freedom will always elude you. Money is a variable based on the ever changing accounting opinions of greedy men. Money itself is a system of control whether it is owned locally or otherwise. For me, it is an oxymoron to "have money and to be free at the same time."

I think we in the west are slowly losing our freedoms yes, but I am think we are in the minority in the world who have long lost theirs. Be grateful in your lifetime, you still have yours. Cherish it, for it will not last forever.

See the problem is Iranians have roofs over their heads, homes. Our Bankers want to take them homes away from them and make them just like us....homeless with absolutely no way we'd pay off a house before we died.

I know this is propaganda from Iran, like many other people here. But i know also that what they are saying it's the truth.

People should think about all the wars in the world right now before going in a rant saying that the Iranian leader should be burned, die, go to hell, etc. They don't have a good government there (far from it), but the situation in wich the U.S government is right know is bringing more evil to the world than the Iranian regime.

As it sits now, every country on this planet is full of corruption. Its to bad ALL of us let it come this. I would love nothing more than to see a peaceful transition to a truly free planet. Unfortunately, we passed that point some time ago. I hate to see revolt and violence, as I love to live a peaceful life with books and technology and playing with my child at the park. Revolt now, in any country, will ultimately result in all that all ending for a very long time to come. Another sad truth is, if America falls, the world falls. make no qualms about it folks.
