Does anyone else think it's strange that ALL of our GOV Agencies are preparing for a disaster?

I was wondering if anyone else thinks it strange that EVERY Federal Agency in the United States is publishing or sending/informing employees and the public of...a disaster preparedness plan? I get that SOP is one thing....but this, I believe has gone a step further. Someone else posted a video from NASA in reference to a survival plan in the event of an "unforeseen" disaster, a few days back...and I like to add, it's been removed from

youtube.

I recently ran accross this article on a website called: Truthsurvival.com
Now I don't know if this is 100% true infomation.....however I found it interesting and it peaked my curisoity.

My encounter with the R & D engineer of JPL

In the summer of 2009 I was taking a needed break from the work I was doing at the time for the Marine Corps Special Ops on Intelligence. I had gone to a local pub in Pasadena, California where I used to live and had an unexpected encounter with a Man who seemed compelled to share some enlightening information with me. Perhaps he had too many pints of beer or perhaps his conscience was getting the best of him. Either way he began to tell me about a project he had been hired to assist with under the Research & Development department of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He explained to me that he was working with certain institutions across the country in a major project that was to retrofit every satellite that was built before a certain date (date unknown). When I asked why, he began to explain further that there had been extensive research and monitoring of a Magnetic Anomaly that was movie through our galaxy and heading towards Earth. I asked if it was a Cosmic Wave and he basically said yes but remained a bit hesitant. (the rest of the article can be found at the link below)

I think it has to do with the solar maximum approaching.

Its handy for a government agency to know that after a series of big disasters most of their employees are going to be available for the clean up afterwards.

I don't think we are immanently going to all die, I wouldn't worry tooooo much.

I don't think it's strange at all. With the never-ending threat of terrorism, natural disasters, and increasing tensions in the middle-east, I would be more shocked if they were sitting idle and twiddling their thumbs (well, maybe). The government has traditionally been "reactive" rather than "proactive". Maybe it's just a case of these agencies finally thinking "what if?", and then doing something about it.

Or, it could be a case where they're going to release small pox, nuclear waste, project blue beam and have disclosure, so they're planning on the masses going into panic mode and killing each other. Personally, I'll err on the side of "Occam's razor".

Bottom line, if you think the government is out to get you, then you're going to read into this as some type of conspiracy...out to get you. If you're a skeptic, the government could be filling body bags and you'd still believe there's nothing to see. I'm sure the truth is somewhere in between.

I'm not saying I think we will all die.....life WILL go on regardless of what happens. It always has for millions of years. I just think it is interesting that they are doing this....yet nothing in the mainstream media as to WHAT IT MAY BE?????

They wouldn't want to cause a panic. I'm sure this is probably just a precaution because of an increase in solar activity in the coming years.

I do think it's curious but a fearful public is still thought to be more compliant and less likely to protest their rights being taken away...but I wonder if people are angry enough to change this Pavlovian response.. What I would like to know is what happened to trillions of dollars poured into the Iraq and Afghan wars. We know about the pallets and plane loads of billions that went out to tribal leaders and what not but trillions simply unaccounted for makes me wonder what they are preparing for.

Personally I think it's a monkey-see, monkey-do situation. The Gov's have had to deal with A LOT of people lately who haven't been prepared for ANYTHING. So the easiest way to get people to help themselves is to "make them wonder".

Or at best, they know that people will emulate those who are "supposed" to look after them. If you saw your mother do something, you're likely to do that too.. Same principle.

No conspiracy here, just Governments who know that at least half their populace is not very smart..

I wonder, how they plan to retrofit satellites that are already in orbit. If it only requires software updates, ok, then I get it. But, if it is actually hardware and the shuttles are being retired how exactly are we going to get people to hundreds of satellites when the only vehicle that could get them there are retired. From my logic, it would seem easier, safer and cheaper to just launch new satellites with the updated equipment rather than rendezvousing with it to make the updates. If I am not mistaken, just making repairs and upgrades to the Hubble was not an easy task as it was and was full of risk.

Would you rather they didn't? Then a catastrophy such as Katrina hits, again (which it will), and catches them with their metaphorical pants down, again?

I'd much rather the various agencies prepare ahead of time, rather than attempt to play catchup while people, who should know better, wait for help that'll take days to get there.

I am an engineer for a government agency and I have heard nothing at all about any kind of preparedness plan. No emails, zip.

Well said, just about EVERY government ran agrency or company is supposed to have these kind of plans in place. Getting caught with your pants down is a bad thing.

Unless you're on the receiving end of the TSA... according to the TSA of course.

As to the buildup of emergency measures and drills - Of course something's up. Don't foget the national EAS test on November 9th:

I'd be more intrigued if they weren't.

It's like the fact most UK firms have been preparing contingency plans for a major terrorist attack since the 1990s ..... probably won't happen but who knows? Better ready than not.

Now, if the plans start mention star goats of a mutant nature, then maybe we should start getting worried!

I would be angry if they were not doing this. Every large entity, whether it be a government agency or a corporation (certainly a public corporation) has disaster and continuity plans in place and if they are competent, they are refreshed each year and exercised once a year as well.

Continuity of operation is a requirement of any enterprise that provides real time services or requires 100% compliance with records retention policy. I can just imagine the outcry were there to be a disaster and records that were unable to be obtained under a FOIA request because adequate disaster readiness plans were either not in place or tested.

Based on the integration between government agencies it also should not be a surprise that multiple agencies are doing it roughly at the same time. In order to ascertain whether or not the continuity plan actually works, all groups within the chain of operation need to be involved in such a test. For example, a bank will exercise its contingency plans simultaneously with the exercise of its clearing house, particularily if the technical infrastructure is located relatively close to one another and thus subject to a common disaster event, aka earthquake.

Nothing dubious here

That is very true but it is odd that they all decided to get thier ass in gear at the same time. I just hope it is all a coincidence. Hey, I can hope.
