realize that making that supposition is insulting to the many people who work hard to keep this site running, and running smoothly?

This phrase and sentence is why people will keep banging on about it!! Just because people keep bringing it up does not mean that you should grow weary to the point of calling it insulting!!!

That sounds like the same attitude Obama's administration has towards the 9/11 Truthers and in fact all Conspiracy Theorists!. He finds them tedious and a nuisance!!

People often say this is because he knows they are getting close to the truth.!!

As the big Cheese of a website full of conspiracy theorists your tolerance should be like granite instead of akin to the Obama Admin.

People will be people. If they did not question everything from the sane to the insane YOU would have a very poor site indeed. I would be a little more humble as those same people who throw accusations are still here, are they not? How much do they really believe it themselves to remain in the devils lair?

I know you are the owner as your avatar says so, but I voice this freely and without fear of reprisal!!

This is a conspiracy site, yes? And the "guests" of this site are here because they do not trust the government, yes?

So...how many mods either have or do work for the government on this site? That means all levels including military and police.

I haven't been on this site very long and I've already noticed a few, it's an honest question and I know I will get an honest answer from the mods, thank you in advance for answering kindly.

Yeah skepticoverlord, you seem a bit too defensive and try to either act insulted or be half-insulting. It makes it all so fishy...

ATS must be linked to the government then

It's all fun and games...

Till you get called a Government Agent.

Gee, I wonder why he is insulted...

Why? It's tantamount to repeatedly calling me a liar, without ever supporting the claim.

The tolerance is fine, evidenced by the continued existence of this thread. As a staunch advocate for free expression, I have the ability to ensure issues I may abhor remain available for discussion.

However, that being said, I'm well within my rights to express my ire.

And again... being a "conspiracy theorist," even one online, does not offer one a license to be rude.

Not ignore, I just didn't think it applied to the issue being discussed.

because this sites security is geared towards marketing to us visitors , instead of security to protect a community

I have no idea why you'd say something like that. Our "user-centric" security and policies are intensely protective of our members. No sever logs. User emails and IPs in the database are encrypted. No personal information asked or stored. Our standard level of security has actually posed problems with some potential advertising campaigns... which never came to fruition.

Agreed, but let him lay it out tho. We all deserve the chance to make a point, right?

Which is why this, and similar, threads are typically not deleted.

It's like when someone posts an anti-ATS thread and it get dozens of flags.

Well now we have the "unflag"!

Well said and props for staying true to the nature of ATS.

many companies and agencies use DNS companies to run their DNS. OpenDNS is one such company that we use.
Certain site categories can be blocked.
It may be that ATS does not fall into one of the filtering categories. Or maybe the Systems Admin likes ATS and has whitelisted the domain for his own use.

Just in case the TS is not yet aware, ATS is controlled by the CIA. Notice that doom and gloom predictions are very popular here and any other news that are of low vibration are the dominant theme. Fear is their main weapon of choice. It is easy to control you when you are covered with fear and that is what ATS is very good at. Scaring people.

I can't exactly say who I know and how I know them...but...Ats IS NOT CONTROLLED BY THE Cia. I for one am grateful for this site. Those (members) who are not...why don't you just leave...and those of us who like it here and respect the owners will stay and enjoy.

I should have called it a day hours ago and just want to sign off tonight saying I'm sorry for showing so much anger today and political combativeness. I have just had so many people hurt lately. Also want to give some appreciation to the moderators and site owners for how difficult it must be to house and try to monitor all this anger from so many people and yeah, there's good things too. I'm just another person who doesn't like what I am doing here so will be back at another time. Geez, I intitially came here for the UFOs and nothing more. I'm just nuts.
and sorry.

Research would not discover it.

Sure it would. It's not hard.

At any rate I see this offends you to a high degree.

Yes it does.

I would call him crazy...

But you just did the equivalent of taking the word of someone you would call crazy that your neighbor is really a sex offender (but not caught), and went to that neighbor's party and proclaimed in front of all his guests that he's a sex offender.

Perfect.

See thats cute little anecdotes but the analogies are in no comparison or relevancy to the topic at-hand.

Its a good way of de-railing the inquiry of such matters

I am in no fear of reprisal; like many others

But for a site that touts "Deny Ignorance"

And is supposed to be a conspiracy site shouldn't questioning the matters of the site be allowed

Especially acknowledging the facts that most of the content is user-generated and most of the mods volunteers answering to a few over-seers(Supermods, Site owners)

Shouldn't we embrace the notion of this being possible.

Deny Ignorance!

A new button the Un-Flag button O.o

There's an inquiry? Good, perhaps this issue can finally be laid to rest.

The thread, and others like it, are still alive correct?

However, if I (and especially dozens of people I respect and admire) are going to be called cheats and liars, a response can be expected.

Deny Ignorance!

Certainly, if there were evidence.

There is no evidence.

Deny ignorance.

I'd like to jump in -

This thread is pretty amazing - a site owner vigorously defending ATS' loyalties to the subscribers and explaining that it isn't a method of collection intended for governing bodies.

Props to ATS for providing access on highly restricted networks. I would agree that it's probably a result of ATS' outstanding policies in this well-monitored forum. While the site (probably) isn't intended for the government to gather fringe information or be aware of emerging threats, it will inevitably be used for that purpose.

What a great place for international eyes to monitor "strange things" that happen anywhere on earth - government, civilian, military or rebel, ATS serves all. Rock on.

I don't think to be honest the OP is threatening in anyway or insulting but the type of responses seen are so vehement in insisting ATS is not COINTELPRO that it adds fuel to the fire making people skeptical of the situation.

For a conspiracy site shouldn't it be embraced to question the motive or under-lying motives of such a site.

It should be encouraged to question all possible conspiracies, no?

It's great to question information, but in the battle of sources I'd take the SO's info over that of a member. Even though he has a vested interest to defend the site, he's probably gotten this question before...alot. If there were some sort of government collusion, he probably could have stayed out of the discussion - or at least been more subtle about his response. At some point we have to come to a conclusion about what's happened, yeah?

Never !

We should never come to conclusions always question no-matter what the notion.

Conspiracies we must delve into and investigate and/or inquire about all of them

If you guys were directors of the CIA, would you use a highly populated, fringe website for your purposes? It's interesting how political divisiveness, fear mongering and fanatical skepticism are allowed, but actually uniting to formulate and enact a solution to global problems is fiercely prohibited. The owner may or may not be CIA, the mods may or may not be CIA, but surely there is a lot of energy invested in keeping us members boxed in, generating clicks, views and content in exchange of bandwith, ads and rules.

If we are only allowed to come together and share in the scandal du jour while being prevented to even discuss a proactive approach toward SOLUTIONS, then how can the idea of this place being a CIA front be so "insulting"? Censorship for ad revenue is what's truly insulting here. Oh, and before I'm told to love it or leave it, this is a discussion forum, right? Boot licking whether directed to a government, governmental agency or website owner is seriously detrimental to open, critical thinking. Just saying.
