Should marriage licenses expire?

This is more for people who are on the fence.
Everyone always says how marriage changes things. Even for those who have lived together for some time, then tie the not. It would be cool if people like this could give it a try and if it doesn't break them, they could let the license expire and go back to just being life partners if they wanted. I agree that marriage isn't for everyone.
