Do you think it's possible to "sell your soul" to the Devil?

I haven't listened to my Robert Johnson music in years. I need to drag those out next time I get the blues.
Anyway, freaky pict.

P.S. Your avy? What the heck is that? lol. Some little nocturnal critter. When I see it I don't know whether to feel frightened, or giggle. If I saw him in person I wouldn't know whether to run, or kiss him on top of the head.

Why anyone would want to deal with Satan is beyond me, his goal is to destroy all of the human race (including his followers) and the earth. Why? Because we all had a hand in throwing him out of Heaven after the war in Heaven, He will never forgive us for that.Duh!

Or perhaps he's still pissed that God cast him out of Heaven for some reason and instead of hating humanity, actually thrives on it acknowledging and following his ways to prove to God that people, including those of a religious background who regularly read the Bible, actually want to live a life of luxury so they and their families don't suffer any longer with barely any money to feed themselves rather than live penniless and starving but with a belief in an entity that refuses to do anything other than watch them slowly succumb to depression and sometimes suicide because of their situation.

Unless God gave me a lottery win tomorrow night and proved once and for all that he does exist and does actually look out for people then I'll get baptised, give money to a different charity every month of my life and start believing in him more. If not....I have doubts I'll be welcoming the new year. That's how desperate it's become.

Well, most assuredly, I don't think it's possible. I did that once to acquire a Lamborghini, Diablo of course, but all I got were lousy letters from Charles Manson! (pa dom tsssss!)

No seriously, though. I thought I was doing the ritual correctly, until I got a call from my neighbor's dog!

This is the first thread I've responded to where I might actually wish I were catholic.

Ok, seriously, I don't think it's possible to actually sell your soul to Satan. . .but I strongly believe it's possible to sell one's mentality to a "darker" existence. The act of doing such a thing is nothing more than an external confirmation that one simply chooses to do what, in his or her mind, is evil, that is assuming that his or her belief of serving the devil is to simply just to be evil to the best of their capacity.

You are selling your soul—rather selling out your soul—when you follow a path of pity or sacrifice.

“Christianity has sided with all that is weak and base, with all failures; it has made an ideal of whatever contradicts the instinct of the strong life to preserve itself; it has corrupted the reason even of those strongest in spirit by teaching men to consider the supreme values of the spirit as something sinful, as something that leads into error—as temptations. The most pitiful example: the corruption of Pascal, who believed in the corruption of his reason through original sin when it had in fact been corrupted only by his Christianity.” – Nietzsche from The Antichrist

If the devil was created to account for man's sin so that we may have someone or something to place the blame upon, rather than face ourselves, we would in fact be selling our soul to ourselves. This, to me, isn't such a bad thing.

Of course you could sell your soul to the devil. What many do not realize, it is a process that takes as much as a decade.
What you need is a preview to hell, then the whole idea would leave you in an instant.
Think about it, an eternity of existing in a place where your worst nightmare is a new experience every moment of your eternal existence in an unimaginable and most horrid place of pain and suffering.

Most people don't like to look at such a reality as this, and it's because really it scares them terribly, and so it makes the idea of a devil and hell as unacceptable. And this gives the devil much pleasure and makes his agenda that much easier for him to complete.

It usually means that you stop doing something for the love of it and do it for the money. The Kings of Leon are a good example. Their past two albums have been utter dross, but since "sex on fire" they are pretty much the biggest band on the planet.

I think it's probably highly unlikely. I mean the soul dosn't really belong to us it belongs to God. So in essence you can't pawn away something that isn't yours. That's one way that i see it. Anything is possibe though, maybe what he actually sold was what he though was his soul. kind of like being tricked into doing something stupid because you think you are in debted to someone. IDK. Any thoughts?

Lol, it isn't always about good or evil, a person can truly try to exchange their soul for something meaningful and dear during a time of extreme distress where it appears as though God has left that person's life or has intentionally neglected them.

Someone can still choose to sell their soul while choosing to be good.

Its not like you think with some guy and a contract lol Selling your soul is doing something you know to be wrong to gain something in return eventually at some point you learn this is the way the world works. People lie, cheat and steal to get what they want. It's like when people cheat on their girlfriends or boyfriends while continuing to be with them, some people feel guilt some don't. The act in its self is selfish beyond understanding and shows that the person who is cheating doesn't know how to control their sexual impulses. And in turn they sold there soul for sex.

This sin is very common and contagious. It spreads a false understanding of love to the people who have be burned by it, they in turn do the same thing and it repeats its self like a virus. The cheater will usually lie about the other person or make some reason for it their partners fault shielding them self's from their own guilt at some point they begin to believe their own lies and all sorts of their faults come to the surface. The cheater never see's them because they are very adept to lying to them self's.

So you are saying....someone can be evil and still choose to be good? Then ...it stands to reason...someone can still be good and choose to be evil.

I think that people can change the condition of their own souls and spirits by choosing to do so.

I believe in forgiveness. redemption and repentance.

If you believe in a Devil then you'd have to believe in God. If you don't then ok, but if you do you would know you can't sell your soul to the Devil because to not believe in, trust and and give your life to God means your already in the Devils camp. You can't sell something you don't have control of anymore.

If you don't believe in a God, your still in the Devils camp acording to the Bible.

If I was the Devil, and therefore oppossed to God, my biggest deception woudl be to have people not believe in a God and therefore a Devil as well. That way the minions would be ignorant and fall into my hands when they die anyway.

So you can't sell your soul to the Devil because if your not locked into God you are the Devils anyway!

Firstly, considering how pretty much everything is a sin according to our ever present and tyrannical overlord we call God, we're all going to Hell anyway. So... the Devil already owns our souls. Why'd he need to buy them? All he has to do is wait and we're all heading down there anyway.
Secondly, according to the Bible the Devil isn't exactly the Lord of Hell or whatever. He's been put there. By God. For rebelling. See, it's Hell for EVERYONE. He's in no position to buy or sell anything.
Thirdly, and most importantly, the Devil, like God, is a spiritual pipe dream.

I'm saying that selling your soul isn't necessarily about good and evil, and that people don't always exchange their souls for a greedy purpose.

Family's are routinely starving and women are routinely being raped in some parts of Africa, namely the Democratic Republic of Congo and West Africa. If a person who lived in one of those areas was under extreme psychological distress given those conditions and told the devil that he or she would trade his/her soul for the safety and well-being of his/her family and friends, would you consider that person to be evil? I mean for all he/she knows he/she could die tomorrow from starvation or from violence.

I have a few more examples, but that seems to be the most meaningful and heart-felt one at the moment.

Just go to the Joy Of Satan website, it will show you how to dedicate your soul to Satan if that is your thing.

(it is an interesting read at the very least imo - for those who like reading about this sort of thing)
