To me, this is one of those questions that begs the question...is this to be taken seriously or lightly? Serious side, yes, I do believe that it is possible to become so negative and evil that one can say that one has "sold his soul to the devil"...there is much evidence of that if one reads the news enough as there have been too many serial killers to think otherwise. If soul can be considered your state of mind, it would appear that many have had the devil control their minds whether Son of Sam, Ted Bundy, mothers who kill their children, etc...many of those killers admit that something other than themselves controlled their minds and their thinking capacity.

On the lighter note, it seems silly to think that fame and fortune is a byproduct of the devil...most famous people are famous due to some agent (devil) or producer who knew how to seduce them...so possibly one can think that they sold their souls to higher forces so that they could be used to make great profits...only the weak are so easily managed as star people can be managed.

Yes, I do believe that evil exists, that some people do not have the strength to resist it...be careful about that friend...he may know what he is saying after all.

Just a thought about the last "photo" of Billy the Kid and how precious it must have been to the beholder who paid $2.3 million at an auction. Perhaps, it is possible to "sell you soul" to the Devil but in a cherished way, much like those who sell antiques, collectibles, etc...

Fear of what?
Not to kill, not to rape, not to sin is that the fear you are talking about?

because if it is......wait actually i know it is then i am happy for them to control me, you fail to see that your materialistic world has control over you.

You first thought is the colour of your car before you think of giving water to a poor starving child in a africa.

That is what atheism has brought you, you are controlled through the industries (music, hollywood, tv, actors, actresses).

The elite has taken away from us our individuality by giving the masses materialism to hold on to.

We walk and talk like our favorite actors, we walk and talk like our favorite artists.

We get tricked into going clubbing by music constantly talking about it to support the monetary system. We commit sin because the music we listen to tells the world it is okay.

There are forces greater than you taking place in this world, my dear atheist, and once you realize this and open your heart and yes your soul to all that is pure and stray away from this evil, you will find peace and love.

There is no control, you have been misinformed, do you think that your evil deeds only this planet go un-judged?

No if i go kill someone right now, i will be punished, i deserve to be punished, and he ( the one you say doesn't exists, the devil) will take my soul because God in heaven wont want it because it is not pure.

Oh and btw all the pop music of today, ALL of it worships the devil and makes you commit sin.

Thats why i dont listen to the radio (AT ALL) because of how much cruel things they say, and if you listen you can actually understand where i am coming from.

As soon as the masses stopped believing, their was no fear for them not to commit sin and thus crime rate went up, and thus we have more pedophiles and thus we have more of the elderly being reported either harassed or injured.

And of course you can sell your soul to the devil, i dont know the full of how it works, but i know it involves you saying that "i will worship you lord lucifer and give you my soul, and in return give me power, fame and glory".

But their obviously more to it than that, sorry i cant say exactly how because gracefully i have never tried and never will.

Christian Metal and anti-elite metal for the win

what your saying could make sense, if the devil only existed in the music industry, however this is not the case, those people arent seduced to anything, they know exactly what their getting themselves into.

Hi all,

So, do you think it's possible for someone to do such a thing as "sell their soul" to someone; possibly the devil, Satan, or some malevolent spirit?

Hello.
I have a few points that I hope will answer your question.

1. Everything that you need to know about satan and relationships with him and the consequence of such relationships can be found in the Holy Bible.

2. You do not have to 'sell your soul' to be doing his bidding. Simply rejecting Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour is playing into the devils hands.

3. People who do offer their soul in the hope of 'fame and fortune' are completely ignorant to the nature of satan. The Holy scriptures say Joh 8:44 You people are from your father the devil, and you want to do what your father desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not uphold the truth, because there is no truth in him. Whenever he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of lies

When he lies, he speaks his native tongue. You may 'sell your soul' to him, but he will not honour the contract. You will receive NO physical or material benefits whatsoever.

4. As a contrast, the Holy Scriptures say the complete opposite of Jesus Christ ; 2Co 1:20 For every one of God’s promises are “Yes” in him; therefore also through him the “Amen” is spoken, to the glory we give to God.
Jos 23:14 “Look, today I am about to die. You know with all your heart and being that not even one of all the faithful promises the Lord your God made to you is left unfulfilled; every one was realized – not one promise is unfulfilled!
Rom 4:16 For this reason it is by faith so that it may be by grace, with the result that the promise may be certain to all the descendants – not only to those who are under the law, but also to those who have the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all

5. The devil, in truth, has NO POWER IN HIMSELF ! He only gets his strength from what we allow him.Jam 4:7 So submit to God. But resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Eph 6:11 Clothe yourselves with the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.

6. Even if you have 'sold your soul' to the devil, YOU CAN BE SAVED !. For Jesus Christ has overcome him on the cross.Rev 20:2 He seized the dragon – the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan – and tied him up for a thousand years.
Act 26:18 to open their eyes so that they turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, so that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a share among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’
2Ti 1:10 but now made visible through the appearing of our Savior Christ Jesus. He has broken the power of death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel!
Rev 12:9 So that huge dragon – the ancient serpent, the one called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world – was thrown down to the earth, and his angels along with him.

7.Something that never ceases to amaze me is that so many people are willing to give satan 'a go' being completely oblivious to the consequences. But they are NEVER willing to give Jesus Christ 'a go' knowing full well the rewards and blessings that He offers.

Anyone ever see the OLD version of the movie Bedazzled? With Dudley Moore and his old partner Peter Cook? Raquel Welch? Funny stuff. There is a newer one with Brendan Frasier. Anyway..... where is it said it CAN be sold? Any where in the Bible? I kinda thought you were stuck with it until St Peter gives you the go ahead, up or down. How you behave before then is up to you.

You can't sell your soul to the devil, it doesnt belong to you in the first place! It belongs to God.

Well, that's just the thing, if you believe it enough, you will end up making yourself do the things you wanted to do, not by some dark power, it's all a mindset, if you pray to Satan that if you can accomplish a task you THINK you can't do, and you end up doing that task for your "soul", well Satan (wow spell check said i needed that capitalized.) but Satan didn't do anything, it was all you, so it works like the same way praying in any religion works, if you pray for something and you believe it enough that it will come true, then it will come true due to your mind making it happen, if you think about it, more things like that happen than you think, plus if someone is dying and you pray that they will recover and they end up recovering, you will think it was your praying, meanwhile someone else was praying for someone was dying to get better that they get better, and they don't, they will get mad and have a skeptical-ness to their religion that they prayed to the god of for those things.

of course, we've got that wonderful thing, called "brain". that thing is capable of creating wonderful ilusions. One of those illusions is "daily reality".

Please dont take my word for this, as it is my own point of view...

We already have sold out. We already belong to the devil. "Money is the route of all evil"

1. Are you currently working? Scrimping and scrapping by? Paying Taxes? Every registered thing you own like TVs, Cars and children? If so youve already gave them away, you dont own them. If you dont pay your TV licence "they" will fine you and take it away. If you dont MOT, insure and Tax your car, "they" will take it away and fine you! "They" have the right to take your children away from you for what ever reason!!!

2. We all need to eat... And we will end up paying whatever the food costs no matter how much it goes up by!

3. We all need fuel / energy... same applies, we will end up paying for it!!!

4. Take a CLOSE look at any bar code on ANYTHING you buy...

5. I dont believe in the devil after life... Its here now!

As I said these are my own points of view, and I expect people to respect that as I respect other poeple's opionions...
All the very best...

Supposedly famous blues guitarist Robert Johnson sold his soul to the devil. He went from being a crap musician, to guitar God and songwriter in a matter of months.

How many more one line responses are there going to be that say "You can't sell your soul to the devil because it doesn't exist."

Why are so many people so lame and predictable?

It's frustrating when people get on their arrogant high-horse and say things like "There's no such thing as a soul."

How the hell would you know? You're just another regular human being on this rock trying to figure out the truth like the rest of us, you don't know for sure whether or not we have souls, lol, how would you??

It's like saying there is a God or there isn't a God, both statements are ridiculous. HOW WOULD YOU KNOW?

I was initially against the idea of replying to this thread knowing that I would be bashed for various things, but I want to share what I have experienced, and remember so far.

Anyways, this is the info I have to share:

I have memories, from past lives that I still remember to this day. The previous life before this one, I was with a small family in the northern part of Norway, in a medium sized city (don't know the name of it though), with roughly 100.000 people living there. The looks of things seems as if this was some time between the years 1971 and 1975 (don't know exactly, but during the 70's for sure).

The family consisted of me, a brother, and the parents. Our apartment was 2 roomed, with an entrance aiming straight towards the bathroom, in a narrow hallway, with a right turn to the kitchen and the other bedroom, while the left turn had the living room.

I remember that me and my brother were sent quite often during the week to the local grocery store/mini market behind our apartment building, located on the left hand side of the building, across the street. The shopkeeper was a kind old man (60-65 years of age) that knew us, because he was a close friend of my parents. We would stroll the isles, looking for the items our mother wrote down on a list. The old man always told us to say hi to our mom and dad.

My life in that lifetime did not last that long, however - What happened thereafter is a bit strange, sad, and quite familiar, for some reason - My small child life took an end at the age of 6 in some sort of accident... (I believe I was hit by a car), and after this...I was taken to hell, literally.
This is where I will most likely loose most of you, but bare with me, please.

Now, I do not have much of a memory of this place, and I think God removed majority of this info from me, probably for a very good reason (i.e. the nature of this place is, as you all know, is very graphic and so evil to the extent that no human could ever comprehend it's malice)
Anyways, all I do remember is that this place is inhumanly dark, pitch black to be exact - It is full of ice freezing cold, burning hot air, rancid decomposing rotting smells, the walls feel like they're closing in with thousand arms grabbing you, pinching you, scratching, and the feel of sharp teeth penetrating you flesh from all sides and places, all while millions of voices of moaning, screaming, shouting, and crying in pain are heard from all around, along with demonic vocals floating uninterrupted, circling one's ear non-stop.

In this place you can only do one thing, and one thing only: Pray - pray to God and ask for forgiveness. And this is exactly what I did - and my prayers were heard.

The next thing I remember is being in this odd white grand hall (or room). There seems to be no roof, nor any walls, since they appear to be....see through in a way. There are 2 doors, 1 on the right, and 1 on the left. In the middle, there are grand and steep stairs leading very far up, which end you can't see. In the middle of these steps, is standing a Gandalf looking fellow, with a white robe, strong build, holding a cane, and a concentrated look on his face (kind of sour face). You feel in this place that you can move, but you sense that, any evil deed, though or intention is faced by grave penalty (no one says this, but you can feel that it is there).

I tried taking a step and climb the stairs, but the tall white robed man says to me with an incredibly powerful voice; "You are not allowed up there - yet..." Then he continues, as he walks slowly down the stairs; "you have 2 choices, 1 is that you take the door to your right" (looking at the stairs, the door on the left) "this will lead you to the place from where you came from" - "take the door to your left (to the right of the stairs that is) and you will be taken back to an earthly life, with an ordinary lifetime to spend" "Either choice will be spent for 1 lifetime" "choose now" and then the voice goes silent, as he stands there, waiting for me to make my choice - so what did I do? well I'm here, am I not? So I chose the door to my right, the earthly life. I was reminded before entering the door that this lifetime would come with no special treatment, no riches nor any fame, just an ordinary life, with the basic whatnot that would include. And then.....when my time is up....I will be allowed to advance those stairs..

This is what I have gone through, and I stand on my word - believe it or not, but it is what took place, and I hold my life to it.

I have other things to share as well, such as what the devil himself looks like, and what kind of personality he has.....haven't met the dude myself, but my grandfather has...

If there is a soul and devil then in theory it is possible. The problem is making the deal. So supposing that Satan is real and a soul is real examining problems in contracting with devil can shed light on why and how to make a deal.

So taking in the old adage as in heaven so on earth. If the basic principles in heaven are reflected on earth, then our basic theories of contract would apply to Satan just as much as it would to us. So what are the basic principles?

In our American common law those principles are Offer, Acceptance, and Consideration.

The easiest parts are the offer and consideration. The offer would be the soul in exchange for say wealth. However, I doubt "wealth" or "fame" would be specific enough for a contract. You would need to be more specific. Say such as the soul for a million dollars. This would be sufficient definite terms for an offer.

The next easiest part is the consideration which hypothetically would be the soul and the million dollars.

The difficult part would be consent and acceptance. First, how would Satan make a counter offer? Furthermore, to really have consent to the Contract you need to have enough knowledge of what you are trading. If someone doesn't truly believe in a soul, doesn't fully understand the extent of it, etc. then can they truly give consent? Under our system it would likely not be upheld (but does only the most basic principles apply or would Satan fall under our "legal jurisdiction").

I tend to think jurisdiction is a basic principle of law. Would it be fair to hold someone accountable to laws they have little to no knowledge of? (such as whatever divine law would be?) If so then our laws would apply, and therefore most people who would be willing to trade their souls would likely be held to not have sufficient compentancy to accept something in exchange for their soul, and this is accounting for the fact there is no protection for bad deals.

Even if there is no protection for competancy in this divine contract, then there is still a real question of if most deals are truly an offer or acceptance. Most people say so jokingly, under duress (does that count?), and furthermore would likely rescind their offer if Satan would truly pop up in front of them as depicted in our legends. At the very least most people would rescind, even devout atheists since this would confirm atleast some proof of divinity and a person would likely rethink about what they are offering. Basically, you would need to have someone who has full faith in the existence and sufficient knowledge of their soul to offer up their soul for Satan to accept. The problem I see with this is that most of those people are religious persons, and would not take the deal.

So I guess, If a person truly wants to see if this is possible they would have to find 'religion' and believe in a soul, then they would be able to offer/accept a deal from Satan for it. Fortunately, if this is possible most of us lack the devotion to belief in a soul to enter into this contract at the time we want to make it. To truly test this theory one would need to find someone who genuinely believes in a soul (and that requires a person who believes in the ideas espoused by the True Religion).

I don't think we will anytime soon get a major believer of their religion to offer their souls in trade for earthly goods. Just the requirement of true belief makes it impossible to determine, so only a positive outcome can give an answer, and a negative outcome would simply leave two conclusions and no definite conclusion (person was not a true believer/there is no deal with the devil one can make).

So for those truly religious, I guess they need to be wary about making those deals, and those that don't believe need to worry less (even in the event this deal is possible).

As for me personally, I am religious and while I have tried to make those deals, and while they failed. I can say that my faith is wanting, and nearly absent in those times that I made those deals. There is very little way to ever prove it, unless you found a person who successfully made the deal, and that is probably almost as futile to prove as it is to disprove the deal can exist.

As even the part of me that doubts in religion at times, when I am thinking rationally says that if such a deal is possible it would always be a bad idea since it would be trading an infinite resource for a finite resource. One is far more valuable to anyone who can contemplate.

As personal opinion, I further wonder how much Satan would truly accept from someone who met the above terms and wanted to enter a deal. Since, this person would very likely go to hell (under Judeo-Christian religions) anyway. I honestly doubt that one would get a significant award. Honestly, how much would you offer to pay a person for land that you would almost certaintly inherit? The full value? Half? Less? Figuring your refusal to buy doesn't change the outcome... I doubt I would give much more than a pittance for it. Certaintly not more than 20%.

In the end, I think it is possible to make this deal, but for the vast majority of us we lack the competancy required to enter that contract.

When we say sell your soul to the devil, it doesn't literally mean an exchange, it means to separate your self from god and to worship the devil and make him your new god. And abandon the true god.

Sad

Hi all,

Just a question I have been thinking about for a few days now... thanks to a comment someone made to me at a party.

I didn't really know anybody at the party- I was there with my girlfriend, and they were all her friends and their friends. Towards the end of the party, I found myself chilling down in the basement of the house talking with this guy I had been hangin around with for the most part of the night.

I had heard him say a few times, "If I live and make it to 30 years old, something's gone wrong or I've done something wrong", although I just assumed this to be a joke in reference to his care-free-party-spirit. As I was sitting in the basement with him (while the rest of the people were checking up on someone in the bathroom), he looked at me straight in the eyes, and said in a somewhat casual tone,

"You know Monts, I sold my soul to the Devil."

I kind of giggled and laughed, assuming it was a joke.

"No man, it's true, I actually did."

I kind of stopped giggling when I realized he was still staring at me, and seemed to be serious about his claim.

"Okay," I said, "So how do you go about selling your soul to the devil?"

"It's a complicated process," he said, "and it takes a long time and dedication too"

After this, the rest of the troop came down and the subject obviously changed to something a little less weird.

So, do you think it's possible for someone to do such a thing as "sell their soul" to someone; possibly the devil, Satan, or some malevolent spirit?

Do you think, if you are more on the skeptical side, that by somehow embracing and practicing the conceptual "dark side" of humanity, you can attain power over people, immense riches, or other materialistic things (while paying a price of course)?

edit on 26/6/1111 by Monts because: spelling/grammar

We should be asking is it possible that souls and devils are a misunderstanding for what is actually going on?
