How many of you hear voices, not necessarly in your head but around you as well?

I have been researching this for a long time even did an ATS search and I found alot of people do hear these "voices" I am just curious as to how many people actually hear them. It seems to me in the last few years its more and more and these people dont use the medications and are still functiuoning.

This thread is more to find out how many of us really do hear these voices, I really dont need all the details, just would like to know for myself how many of us hear them. If you could just reply that yes you do and when approx it started happening?

I guess I should edit my post I thought about that after I posted it that some one smart would say that
But I am sure most of the people ( the ones that hear them) know what kind of voices I am refering too! In case you dont this is what I meant, the voices that are not from people that you can see! Is that better? And I dont mean radios or TV's.

What stopped them? Do you know?

Do the voices seem to be coming from inanimate objects around you? or directly talking to you in a threatening or violent manner?

Actually I can tune them in or out, I mess with them mostly, Its more like they are amazed that I can actually hear what they have to say! Sometimes it seems to come from the tv even when it is off!

My dad was in the first Persian gulf war as was dead on in a chemical battle he came back, 7 months after got 100% DAV for life and got the syndrome, my point is he was hearing voices before he was diagnosed with paranoid shizophrenia, not saying at all thats what you have. but you can start there with research, maybe you have been through something stressful lately? It could be a number of things normal or illness based.

Thats too funny! You think I havent researched that for years already. Skizo needs meds to function properly, I have tried the meds, whoa have I tried the meds, now if you want to hear voices just try some of those that they prescribe, cause in my case thats what brings them on full force! Thanks for your interest though.

My mother was diagnosed with schizo effective disorder (Schizophrenia & Bipolar). Well, its something you may want to take seriously. I mean, if its not impacting your daily life then i wouldn't be too concerned about it. But voices are just the start of Schizo, I'de suggest learning some more about it, and keep tabs on yourself. If you find yourself slipping in sanity, then i'de suggest going to the doctor

When i was seven a heard a voice call my name like it was behind me and no one around at all.

since then lately once maybe evry six months or so i hear stuff but cant make it out. but ive have hyperthyroidism and its sopposed to make you hear things

Thank you so much for your concern, I actually do have a doc and a shrink. And they both know that I have not been on any medications for years now, and I am totally funcitional. I really started this thread, cause I have noticed at lot of people mentioning this in other threads, and was curious as to how many hear these "voices". I for one think thats its more than what the doc's say. What i really hoped to gain from this was to see if its like 10%or 50% or 90% of the people. I realize that not everyone would like to publicly admit that they hear voices.
years ago when i went to the docs, they told me mind reading is immpossible, but i have since researched it and found out that not only is it possible, but its been going on for many many years.

Voices can be all sorts of things, and just because you hear them doesn't mean you are crazy at all. I know alot of normal people that hear voices. This world is filled with alot of mysterious things we will never understand. It could even be paranormal.

Any specific things you hear? Is there a specific time of day you usually hear them? When did it start?

Again, I seriously was not trying to offend you in any way.

This is very interesting. My 13 year old daughter told me about a month ago that she has been hearing "voices" for a few months. She says that it sounds like someone is talking to her underwater and that she doesn't believe it is in her head. She feels that it is "outside" her body. She cannot make out what they are saying. She does not know if it is male or female. It does not interfere with her daily life although, she states that it is awkward at times because no one else hears it. She has begun alerting me when it happens and asking me if I hear it too.
I wonder if it is a phase, or due to her age, some sort of paranormal activity, or (I hope not) schizophrenic beginnings...Although I was adopted, there is no history, that I am aware of in my family of mental disorders.

Well the other night I was txting a friend and i kept hearing shes still txting, i thought it was the tv in the background so i went to shut it off only to find out it was not even on! And everyone was in bed sleeping.
As for when it started that would have been about 6 years ago after fasting and drinking coffee of 3 days before i lost it!

Lots of times I cant make out what they are saying! But they still talk!

I have been on alot of high profile paranormal cases with some of the similar occurances. Sometimes people that are sensitive to electrco magnetic currents can often have a '' deja-vu '' experience of things that have just happened in the form of sound.

I think that could be possibly be one thing to look into. Sometimes people have this happen to them and tell a doctor and instead of looking at alternative reasons, they instantly label a person with a mental disorder, when in turn it's just a sensitivity to EMF.

I have often heard my name called right prior to falling asleep. It's annoying. Usually, I'll ignore it unless it was very clear. Then I'll scope the house out, just in case.

One of the weird things I have been experiencing lately as I hit the hay though, is I will hear a explosion type sound in my head and it'll actually make my body do a quick spasm/jump. Now that, I find odd.

I have one thing to say. Schizophrenia IMO is a HUGE phenomenon related to others dimension which is yet misunderstood by many, even the scientists. Here in western countries we deny the fact of spirits, souls and this kind of stuff is often related to illnesses while I think it is totally the opposite. Wouldn't it be easier for a psychiatrist to give a prescription of drugs to someone who is considered ill than trying to understand it.

I say this according the the basis of Albert Einstein which is the following : Nothing creates itself, nothing gets lost, all changes. We are energy, and we keep on being alive by energizing ourselves with food. When our physical body is ''dead'' it's only a transformation into a less dense form. The real question is why and when the scientific community will be TRULY READY to start investigating this phenomenon in depth to understand it 100% instead of only saying it's a neurotransmitter dysfunction.

With that being said I do hear voices on a regular basis but they don't stop me from living the way I want. We need a bit more of transparency here and open-mindedness.

I do say we will always have these kind of things related to sickness by a lack of knowledge and understanding on our brain which is a great and well made organ.
