I'm surprised this thread has gone this far, in my previous reponses concerning this topic my posts were deleted.

Marijuana will never be totally legalized because 1) It would put big pharma out of business and 2) too many big politicians are making money off of it being illegal

3) We have a whole criminal system and the big companies that make money off of it (food services, linen, slave labor etc) that are making money off of jailing now hundred of thousands of people not for coc aine, or the other really dangerous stuff but simply grass.

You could say the exact same thing about a variety of other topics (conspiracy related) such as the case with 'free' (debatable) energy, the dependence on big oil, flouride in water etc. Also all the preservatives and what not in our foods that cause cancer which in turn will make big profits for the medical industry later on just to name a few off the top of my head.

The whole thing about this creating organized crime is completely absurd. In economics if you create scarcity of a product the demand for it goes up in regards to the supply and prices increase, thus more profits for the people willing to risk enough to dabble in this type of trade. If its legalized and people can grow their own you can imagine the profits of these cartels dropping as people can now safely (in regards to the law) create their own as opposed to funding these drug lords.

If they legalize weed then they have to legalize hemp...
and hemp would put the U$ back on the road to recovery...
and we Can't have that.

just in brief:
The diesel was designed to run on it ( among other veg oil plants )
it produces more alcohol then corn
it is the most nutritionaly dense plant there is.
several hundred times better than cotton
grows with minimal fertilizer and pesticide
cures cancer
kicks oil's butt
etc etc etc...

legalized?
oh nooooeeeee!
Ps
back in the seventies
the canadian government financed and published the Ledain commision report
it detailed the whole sorry scam..
and was promptly buried
so as to carry on creating the police state we now find ourselves living in
without criminalized products there wouldn't be any criminals now would there?

and our PM back then huffed a few....
remember...fuddle duddle?

I am sorry for your loss.

But, you came through for her.

Big pharma is one of the strongest lobbyists in DC............read my location.

And now in order to buy this miracle drug, if you are a common, ordinary, law abiding citizen and you don't live in a state that authorizes it for medical use and you don't have a little red, pink or what ever little color coded card from the government authorizing you to buy this then you have to buy it from people you would normally be scared to deal with.

And that is scary.

Scary having to buy it from people who are on the wrong side of the law. (Thugs, rough guys, non law abiding citizens).
Scary because you aren't assured of the quality of what you are buying.
Scary because if you're not authorized by the government and caught you can go to jail, lose your house, lose tons of money (getting a lawyer) and even go to jail.

HARVARD DOCTOR PRAISES MARIJUANA AS MIRACLE DRUG

Dr. Lester Grinspoon Says Pakalolo Is Safer And Cheaper Than Conventional Drugs

Despite conflicting state and federal laws, medical marijuana is here to stay, says Dr. Lester Grinspoon of Harvard University.

Not only that, "it will be seen as a kind of miracle drug during the next decade," the psychiatry professor predicts.

A nationally recognized authority on marijuana, Grinspoon is among key speakers at a two-day conference, "Marijuana in 2001: Medical and Social Issues," that opened yesterday at the Ala Moana Hotel.

The third annual Hawaii Conference on Addictions, sponsored by the John A. Burns School of Medicine, is aimed at giving medical professionals and others the latest information about the science of marijuana, benefits, risks, and national and international perspectives.

Again, read my location.

America is not a country by the people and for the people -- we are a corporate dictatorship. Our laws are made for and by the large corporations (that place our politicians in office).

America is far from a free country. We have become a nation of slaves to stupid laws that the rich and elite are exempt from.

Now, how come some people can buy it with a little card authorized by the government and the rest of us can't????

That's not fair.

Oh, but you can get tons of Valium and Vicodin as long as you can talk your doctor into it and both are addictive............but Big Pharma says it's okay and they make a profit from it so it's a okay

It is the oddest thing to be Gay and to be against Gay Marriage, and yet this legislation needs to be passed for the Benefit of Mankind and it is 2011 for Christ's Sake!

Say no to Gay Marriage! Say yes to real issues like this that involve people and living! Gay marriage is about those with a chip on their shoulder over organized religion and the damnation of the Soul! Legalization is about Living Healthy and making healthy choices!

America is still not getting it are they?

Same rules would apply.

Why do we have bars in the suburbs where everyone has to drive???? Is that insane or what?

I can see the old fashion neighborhood bar / pub - after a few drinks and some darts or pool, everyone walks everyone else home.

But here in the suburbs, my husband and I will buy a small bottle of Merlot, bring it home, open and split it on the back deck, talk a bit and go inside to bed.

Sometimes the neighbors a come over or we'll go over to their house with an extra bottle or two.

Saturday nights are quite pleasant in our little corner of the world.

Don't drink (or anything else that slows impairs your judgement) and drive period.

you know this is very relevant in the discussion. there is a specific person i enjoy debating the legalization of marijuana with who, although being quite unalterable in his position that marijuana should not ever be legal, very firmly beleives that if a couple of the same sex want to get married it is not his bussiness and that the law should reflect that.

That is pretty ironic considering the "War on Drugs" is the most invasive part of the government.

Not only is it immoral but it is completely illogical and destructive.

Creating violence and destabilizing economies.

People will look back on "The War on Drugs" like slavery and the holocaust.
