Again. Quit with the bible verses. The only people who care what they say are people who believe in that book. Most people don't believe in that book. There are numerous other books in which people put their faith, as well as people who put their faith in no book at all.

It doesn't. Period. And as far as I'm concerned, people can do what they choose... I'm against pedophilia because that is one party consent. Am I against incest between two adults... Traditional marriage, discrimination, and political parties that can't agree with one another, these are the things that create the divide. And as far as distractions go, most Americans are distracted by television and their busy lives anyway. The issue of gay marriage isn't a distraction, it's a matter of resolving an issue.

Legalizing gay marriage bridges the divide that you mentioned because it sets people on a more even, equal level in a particular area of society. It also strengthens the family structure in the United States because it allows same-sex couples to take the initial step to starting a family. That is a positive step, imo.

Same-sex marriages are not hindering a heterosexual's ability to marry or to start a family in any conceivable way. Same-sex marriage is about opening a new avenue of marriage to same-sex couples. That's all that legalizing same-sex marriage does. It's the people who cannot accept gay marriage because of their compunctions with homosexuals for whatever reason who are the ones alienating themselves.

Marriage is a state-instituted ceremony that announces the civil union between two people. Same as a civil union anyway.

You should be able to 'marry' anyone you want. Its simply a legal contract and not one that promises matrimony.

I'm not quite sure they consider you friends, if that's the position you're taking. I certainly wouldn't.

You're right, a lot of things could go wrong with gay couples adopting children. But this also applies to straight people as well. Heterosexual or homosexual, bad parenting is more of a gender neutral thing. There are too many children who need good homes to be picky about what sexual orientation their adoptive parents are.

That being said.... There is NOTHING is wrong with loving someone, and there is NOTHING wrong with the LGBT community. There is however, something extremely wrong with the society we share. No one should be denied the right to put their love on paper. Marriage is marriage, love is love, don't over complicate it.

Congratulations to Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka on their engagement! Also, now Dumbledore can get married in New York, which is pretty neat.
