Well, all I can say is that I have not noticed that this is a stiff unflexible forum, and I don't see how this could be any more flexible than what it is now. If your breathing is being restricted when you type, maybe try typing slower? Or try to relax while typing. Maybe you have asthma?

The problems I see are:

1.) No one seems to be abldeathwin/lose graciously. It is a fight to the death. If you admit a mistake, you are accused of not really believing your original argument and trolling. That is IF you admit deafeat, which no ones ego seems to let them do. I have even had people reply to me that no evidence would sway their mind. Ridiculous.

2.) Hoax bin should be done away with. Maybe a mod note in the OP that the info is sketchy should replace it. Let the individual make up their minds on the facts presented. No need to moderate the thoughts of others.

great point, but i am one of those people to give way a little, i will be the first to say if evidence is provided that something looks sketchy, just think people on ATS take forum life way too seriously !!!

Threads such as this are popping up almost daily now.

Ive been on this site for quite a few years now and I can honestly say that I do not know where you are coming from.

I have had two posts removed in the time I have been on this site and they were for perfectly valid reasons and I have had one problem with a thread, it was in the breaking news forum and it was only because the news title in my thread did not match the original headline.
There is always going to be people who do not see eye to eye with an opinion but I personally think this is a good thing because it keeps you on your toes when it comes to producing threads.

If you could write whatever you like and get absolutely no criticism/moderation whatsoever this site would be completely pointless as debates would become too offensive, topics would constantly become derailed, language would get out of control and thread quality would lower.

If the guys that run this site are debunker's, big deal, anything that is brought forward in the form of a claim needs to withstand scrutiny of some kind if it is too hold ground.

If this was not the case, a lot of people would believe anything they read and quite often, (in my opinion of course) the people who do believe anything without a rational explanation are the first ones to cry about this site when they have some criticism or moderation.

It is a healthy process. Deal with it!

Do they ever really identify it tho, or do they just flip it about and say things like, its clearly a door, or its clearly a porch light, or clearly its swamp gas..... no they dont know what that object is just as much as the person who took the picture. my point here is, that just because you've got a fancie border round your posts and your a wiz kid, you think your speculation is likely to be better than mine, even if i posted a "Real" 100% proof video of UFO Crashing in the middle of my camera frame, even if i rushed over to the crash site and dragged alien bodies out of the wreckage.... people on ATS Would say..."look at that piece of metal on the floor, it looks like part of a Samsung Galaxy S II, these kids must have a large budget to make such a hoax !!"

i love a healthy debate, i really do, i love it when someone drags me from my rigid standpoint and slaps me down with a soggy bit of harsh truth. but more likely is that your grammar will get scrutinized and your UFO will get made to look like a picture of swamp gas glimmering in the light, half sunk in a puddle. The fact is the debate that i recieve tends to be petty and pathetic, this should not be the place where you post a pic or a video and the ATS members await like starving dogs to rip it apart. if you dont think its a UFO or you dont agree, just say so and then "Do One" instead of making it your objective to be-little the thread and then the individual !!

Yes, UFO videos get legitimately debunked all the time, pretty much every day, and when people don't know what the object is, they say so. Or they'll say "it looks like .... to me, but I'm not sure". Almost nobody makes the ridiculous statements that you claim, and the few that do, just ignore them.

if i spot a wierd looking thing in the clouds one day, that is to my eye looking like it may be using a "Cameleon like camouflage",,, i should be aloud to come on ATS and tell people about my experience, the only thing that stops me is the fact people will say..... I get your point about being attacked for just sharing experiences, but if you try to state unequivocally that it was a reptilian scout ship or whatnot, you've gotta expect skepticism/disbelief (especially if no evidence is provided). Problem is people lie for all sorts of reasons and there have been many, many, admitted hoaxes throughout history that have burned folks in the past. It's not a good feeling being duped, and as the saying goes, extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

This forum's a two-edged sword if you think about it. On one hand you have posters claiming that the moon landing was staged, but those same posters will get all frazzled if other posters doubt the authenticity of footage purporting to depict a UFO/dead Alien. I don't know . . .

The fact is that in most cases the UFO is not a UFO, and usually someone comes up with an answer, if the answer is that it is "a picture of swamp gas glimmering in the light, half sunk in a puddle", then so it is, you can't change that.

WoW, star because you actually showed me a good point that i had not really considered, yet i do not completely agree, i dont really let it effect me when i get "Duped" by a hoax, i appreciate it in a way because that person has taught me a lesson, i didnt realise i suppose that some ATS members may feel "Burned" due to a hoax, but like the guy who said that there were too many "Yes men" in the world, look out your window, go into any mainstream forum on the net, one about cars, or celebs and there you will find the people who have really been burned, people who have really been "Duped" by a false reality of how things really work and what is really important. ATS should stand out like a beacon of light, and be a stage to debunk the debunkers, not breed them !!

every time i see a thread like this now a days i actually physically yawn, so many people in the last few months complaining about censorship, mods, ads, threads, trolls, thread deletions, etc etc etc etc. i wanna literally bang my head off the desk in frustration. dont get me wrong you have pretty valid points, as have many others in other similar threads, but being a long time member here i often wonder why the people that complain about things actually stay. They seem to detest the place so much, they dont like the layout, the mods are to harsh, the mods are to soft, censorship is overboard, censorship is not enough, the staff are undercover gov agents . people dont seem to realize that the whole point of deny ignorance is that people WILL debate a post with you, people WILL research to figure out if that picture, video or story you posted is a hoax or not and being a very large based forum some people ARE crackpots and post as such could you imagine what this board would be like without some sort of rules to go by?? without some sort of censorship?? without the truth-seekers, debunker's, far- out idea's , researched stuff and such like?? to me it would be chaos pure and simple. It would be a bunch of paranoid schizophrenics locked int heir cupboards to scared to go out.

Were as some healthy paranoia is good for you, being able to question things we are fed is good for you but if you don’t retain a little bit of skepticism and sanity your brain will melt, followed by the rest of your body and you will end up a quivering wreck

Trolls, debunkers, truthers, mods, rules, censorships, debates, hoaxs are all part of ATS, always have been always will be. Were as its very frustrating trying to chat over a board with someone who seems like they have half a brain just remember to take a deep breath and tell yourself - its ok its just the internet. Post your idea's, thoughts, interesting facts because believe you me alot of us are craving a decent thread to get our teeth into instead of a lot of the drivel we see now a days. If anyone cant handle ATS for what it is then i suggest they find another board to go to. If more people posted half decent topics and done less complaining maybe their would be something decent for us to post in.

i disagree, if it is identifiable as "Swamp gas glimmering in the light, half sunk in a puddle" its still a UFO, if you say ""oh look at my picture, its clearly a mantis reptoid shapeshifting craft from andromeda"", then yes you deserved to be dragged to earth, but if you list a UFO as a ""UFO"", and you know it wasnt a porch light or a normal plane, and you didnt create a hoax, even if 100 people says its swamp gas, they are still wrong,

even if your a minority of one, the truth is still the truth. 2+2 is always 4
