TBH im not such a believer in this whole dual sun thing, if there really were 2 suns visible there would be more people than a guy on Youtube reporting it and they would be visible from more than just one country. BUT I am open minded about things and I watched this video and it does look very convincing. Im not overly clued up on sundogs which this probably is, but they guy puts different filters on the objects and they do indeed look like 2 seprate entities. However as I said Im not to clued up on sundogs so I dont really know how a sundog would appear when viewed under different filters etc. So im posting this video here for it to be pulled apart and analysed.

i watched a bit of the video and what I saw looked just like a sun dog to me.. If you really think there are two suns in the sky why cant i see them both now. Where has the second one gone. Dont you think a second sun would be noticed,i mean all the planets dance around the sun. A second one in our solar system would cause chaos...

The first video was pretty convincing and I think there is something there. The rest I could have done without. The rest was just lens flares and an annoying guy yapping his gums.

Good find though!

That bit in the beginning is a VERY obvious sun dog. I don't know he can possibly say that it isn't

yes i did read it, i replied a bit wrong and noticed after soz im tired. I think our solar system may well have two suns but if we do the other one is way off somewhere...

Pretty much the same video, being discussed in this topic.

Yeah I've been gone from ATS for a few weeks. I get back and there's two suns now.

Honestly I have no idea how that video could be faked, unless there was a large fire or something.

Haha yea I really have no idea what he was banging on about those pentograms things :s

The video of that cloud he showed at the end was very cool though.

I saw a new commercial for prudential recently, it was ALL various pics of the sun. and damn near every picture, was a "second" sun.

the sun is the brightest object anywhere remotely close to us, when filming it sundogs are the norm rather then the exception. brightness aside, you can factor in the lens and athmospheric conditions.

the ones in russia/siberia are the easiest to see. the supposed "second" suns are always on the side, and if you notice the flare on the top curves towards the sun. if you were to catch it just right it would appear as a large halo with 2 or more bright spots around it.

not trying to put anyone down here. just this past winter I noticed similar attributes appearing around the moon. having never seen this before I thought it was something special. after I found out what I was looking at, I was able to spot it numerous other times.

I agree.
I too, am on the fence when it comes to this ''Two suns'' idea as surely there would be more people seeing it? Logically the Sunlight and moonlight would be affected and be weird or different in a very noticable way, the gravitational effects would be more severe on the heavenly bodies and be out of quilter...Although we are experiencing an increase in earthquakesand other weather extremes as all the planets in our solar system are??
Dunno, as I said I'm on the fence.

Very cool video, very obvious sundog. Looks just like the main sun dog pic on wikipedia:

en.wikipedia.org...

I never even knew those existed. Ice crystals in the atmosphere apparently. Neat phenomenon. The guy in the video is an idiot though.

I don't know what to think about these second sun videos. I am always watching for my second sun sighting. Something interesting the other day did catch my eye. I don't know how to upload you tube video to here. I was watching river monsters the lost reels. He was on the amazon fishing. In the you tube version at the 1:33 second mark there seems to be two suns or two sources of light as the sun is setting. I have not seen the video herebut I think it is something worth looking at. if you decide to look please let me know what you think.

thanks

Sun doggy, who, doggy, what, doggy dog!!!
That's a sun diggity wit out a dout.
haha j/k

Poor guy, good thing he used the negative effect in the beginning. It minimizes the shame.

Ok, yes on the yapping guy is annoying and loves to hear himself talk.

Now hear this: Let's all make an agreement, ok? Just so we don't end up like the 'Little Boy Who Cried Wolf' (or in this case, the 'Person Who Screamed 2 Suns') and no one believing because of prior faking!
If any one of us just happens to be-bop outside and see an extra sun shining just as pretty as you please, here's the deal...

Immediately call all friends and relatives far and wide and have them film and snap pics from all different locations. Do not pass Go; do not collect $200. Just collect all evidence! Oh, and if you have a minute, alert us all here too, so we can run outside and get in on the action (depending on time-zone/cloud cover, etc.)

Deal?

That was a great video of a sun dog as the speak flaps their gums about it not being a sun dog. The person is from Minnesota. You'd think they'd have seen a sun dog before.

For those that are on the fence about this issue, go out and look for sun dogs. They appear in the sky about 2 days a week! The one in the video is a bright sun dog. Others may not be as bright.

Remember that sun dogs are really common so go out there and see one for yourself.

PS I did not bother to watch the video to the pentagrams. They are likely to be due to the iris of the camera. Next you see a movie where a bright light passes across the lens look for the polygon internal reflections due to the iris of the camera.
Sun Dog at Old Crow, Yukon
Notice that the red of the sun dog is towards the sun.

Does the following lens flare image help understand what is at the end of the video I did not bother to watch?

Here are a few sundogs above. I've searched and searched but I can't find a single one that is even close.

Sorry can't get the other two to embed.

Wow.
Anyone know anything about celestial physics?

Do you see 2 suns every day?
Or just in certain places on the planet at certain times.
Space godz pulling a shield over the other one just to play a joke?

Seriously, I am beginning to believe many people forwarding this load of baloney are quite short on gray matter.

Especially since google is so close a mouse drag to look things up.

A few very good examples from Hubble and other telescopes can show you just how ugly it is for two suns to be in close proximity.

Pretty to look at-----------from a long ways off.
Closer in, they tear each other apart or one eats the other.

In less technical words, it would be a baaaaad few eons for the solar system.

BTW, beginning long ago, when it was first noticed.
By now, competing solar winds, magnetic fields and perturbations in orbital mechanics for all the planets and asteroids would have made earth uninhabitable, and probably centuries ago.

I usually ignore this garbage, but it has become so pervasive and constant that someone should say something.
Asking interesting questions is fine, but at least do some research on the wild and crazy theories first.

Wild and crazy theories are my cup of tea, but easily dismissed topics taking pages and pages of comments is a waste of effort

In defense, not a ding or smudge on the O.P., but a general dissatisfaction with the quality of the topics----like this one.

I guess I'll just have to *try* to ignore such inanity until we all wake up on the bright morn of 12/22/2012 are look for the topics explaining the "miscalculation of the date by (insert name here)"

Use the pinhole camera method. I have used it for eclipses and sunspots before.

Get two sheets of plain white paper and a pin or needle.
Poke a hole in the center of one piece of paper.
Shine the sunlight through the hole onto the other paper.

You will see there is only one sun. If there were two you would them side byside.

Try hiding yourself inside a large cardboard box and only have the one small hole and project the light farther from the hole (3feet). You can actually see sunspots after your eyes adapt to the lower light levels.

But then again doing something like this is far beyond the abilities of those that believe in this crap like a religion.

The guy in the video certainly didnt seem concerned that his pentagram wobbled wildly around the sky right when his camera moved...

as for the "laser" coming out the sun??

Having said that - the first part of his video (which has been posted before) is pretty strange and doesn't look like other examples of sundogs.
