In his book 'Worlds In Collision' (1956) Immanuel Velikovsky established these 3 important facts :
1. that there were physical upheavals of a global character in historical times
2. that these catastrophes were caused by extraterrestrial agents, and
3. that these agents can be identified.

Haven't read the book but did, some time ago, read Velikovsky stuff about the pole shift. So if this is to apply to Comet Elenin then Elenin isn't a comet at all but a planet that circles our binary with is now in it's 3600 year or so close (relatively) approach and so, theoretically, planets - comets etc. that circle this binary could come within our solar system at this time and mess up orbits and rotations. Is that the general idea?

yes click the link : it is commonly known as comet Elenin : its mass may indeed be of planetary proportions but it is carrying a tail : i want facts about this to be known. The incoming comet may have caused earthquakes and tsunamis and the volcanos which are erupting . some with magma flows so far. read the books, you will see why this is posted here.
May 21st at 00:52 UT Comet Elenin and asteroid (74732) 1999 RQ176 passed each other at a distance of only 225,830 km, which amounts to 0.59 the average distance between the Earth and Moon. ...
On the image at left, taken 3 hours after closest approach, you can see how close the two objects came. Asteroid 1999 RQ176 is a rather large representative of the Flora family, and has a diameter of about 2.7 km.
