Okay, I grumbled and griped earlier about this decision, but now that I see that they changed "Dreams" on BTS to "Dreams and Member Predictions" I feel that this is actually a good move. It seemed that a lot of member predictions were to the effect of "I had a dream and....". So it does make sense to merge these two ideas.

I suppose this forum will still be used to discuss topics like "Does Sollog know what he's talking about" (NOT!
) or discussions about Mother Shipton.

Anyway, I wish to retract my complaint and say

If the person is shallow enough to think that one page of posts on predictions represents the entire purpose of ATS then do we really want people like that posting here? I checked out ATS for quite some time before joining and it was that time spent surfing the site as a non-member that enticed me - not the first search result I got that I think dealt with Area 51 cover-ups.....

SO - what are you basing the google search results off of? Are you doing just general searches with our web-domain or are you actually searching with words like "predictions" and "prophacy?" I can understand your reasoning if ATS pages come up with predictions, etc...after entering our name...or "deny ignorance," as that doesn't really reflect our whole motif.....

I would have to say the same too. The BTS forum seems more of the place for it to be now that I think about it.

I disagree with this update, myself. I enjoyed reading the predictions of members of ATS. May I ask why this change was made?

Tough call but good form, SO.

Last prediction I made about Athens, a bomb went off there ten minutes later. I decided not to make any more predictions.

I am still celebrating with goose that we are alive today...

I predict that the change to the Predictions forum will be met with much Wailing and Gnashing of Teeth.

There will be uncertainty and confusion among the Believers. Some will be led astray into Darkness. Others will find the Light.

There will be Royal Drama and Beating of Chests. Someone will mention free speech. Someone will mention Nazis. Someone may even mention Republicans. Someone will point out that Jeanne Dixon predicted this change to ATS in 1974.

Some will speak openly of rebellion against the all-powerful Skeptic Overlord, but they will be crushed, their broken Bytes scattered widely over All the Land.

But Hope remains. I predict that, ultimately, Reason will Prevail, and Knowledge shall find its Rightful Place in the Forums and Minds of the People of ATS.

So it is written.

The year 2004, eighth month,
From the Skeptic will come a great Policy:
To bring back to life the Topic of Prophecy,
Before and after Trolls to reign by Good Sense.

As a new member of ATS, I am disappointed by the decision to move member predictions to BTS. While I agree the forum often contained silly doom and gloom member predictions, I nonetheless found them entertaining and sometimes found a few that were quite thought provoking.

Frankly, I dont get why BTS would be a more appropriate location given the nature of the forum topics there. Seems to me youre missing your target audience. The attraction and power of ATS is that it aggregates discussion of topics normally out of the mainstream. BTS, on the other hand, serves a more generic and mainstream purpose. I fail to understand how I have a bad feeling. is any different from I saw this strange creature to I saw flashing lights in the sky found in the other forums at ATS.

In my view, by locating Member Predictions in BTS you are far more likely to offend members who otherwise exclusively frequent BTS for its more mainstream discussions. Moreover, you equally subject honest members who wish to otherwise share their predictions to a member class not as open to such expressions of thought.

If you are truly interested in bifurcating such member predictions from discussions of more traditional prophesies, then why not create an additional Members Prediction Forum located at ATS?

For a site whose mantra is to Deny Ignorance, I feel you have unwittingly abused that notion. I hope you will reconsider your decision accordingly.

After looking thru the bulk of the predictions, I can understand the move to revamp it otherwise it would truly be embarrassing.

I think its a sexy idea, by a sexy person, good idea i say.
Well done to ATS for making the right move.

I predict that the posts for the ATS Predictions forum will dry up & the ones for the BTS Predictions forum will skyrocket. Maybe that's the idea...

Oh, and this tendency for spokespeople for ATS, in the effort to make ATS a more "respectable and believable" news-site, to scoff at the paranormal & UFOs & the like--kinda lame, and pointless. "Respectable and believable" news is not what brought me to ATS. Predictions about the apocalypse, UFO photographs, and masonic speculations are what brought me to ATS.

I guarantee you, if ATS starts cracking down on what they feel is "crackpot" news & info, traffic will plummet. First goes the member predictions, then goes the 911 conspiracy theories, then goes the UFO sightings. Here's hoping ATS doesn't go the route of an edgy, brilliant idea that kills its spirit in an effort to be "mainstream"...you know, just like Dennis Miller.

Some of you ATS moderators need to get over yourselves. You sound like the US govenment demanding that everyone have 'papers' to travel.

You sound like some kind of republican NAZI. "Ewwww, we don't want any of this freeform discussion. Everything must adhere to the 'standards' WE determine."

It is the politics of exclusion. Don't allow gays, blacks, women, or anyone who doesn't spell correctly. You must be registered, certified, and time-stamped.

Get over yourself SkepticOverlord.

Seriously, what is the big freaking deal?? You can post "Your Own" predictions on BTS, then contact a mod to have them look over it, give your reasons why it should be on ATS and take it from there. I do not see how anyone can claim freedom of speech issues, you can post it on BTS. As well as everyone knows the sites are attached and the same password applies.

I believe it was a wise decision to keep the integrity of ATS. I believe everyone has some type of psychic ability, but most of the posts and comments were becoming rediculous. It has been "My" understanding that the Predictions Forum was to be based on prior well known prophecies and "Thinkers", I dont think I have yet seen these things discussed in it over the months.

People will find their way here in one way or another, I personally stumbled on it by accident. There still is a place on the ATS Community to post your dreams and predictions, it has not been "SHUT DOWN".

Since I believe my thread, "I think something horrible is going to happen today!" is the cause of all this and I'm sorry it caused such a stir and you got so many complaints, was moved to dreams and phophecies. I must ask though, why are there still many predictions showing up much like mine in predictions and phophecies? There is one that states there is going to be a terrorist attack involving ships and George Bush's assassination. Many people said mine was not detailed enough even though I gave the date and said that it would be worse than 911 and name the country, the US, many of these are not detailed either. While I am not complaing about the decision to move all predictions; why is it from what I can see mine the only one moved there?

If only lottery numbers were as easy to predict as all that other stuff.

1) Certified predictions work for people hawking books and paid memberships elsewhere. Often commercially interested frauds. aka 'Miss Cleo', Sollag, etc. Call me a socialist or something, but i would hope ATS would be more interested in serving the interests of the membership rather than the commercial interests of professional psychics.

2) The post makes no mention of changing the BTS Dreams to Dreams & Personal predictions. [Additionally I was not aware that i could access BTS without registering there separately] It makes it sound like it a total shutdown.

3) I will predict that the Predictions forum of ATS will fizzle due to a general lack of interest.

I guess it is like dealing with the Autocracy of the US government, members are powerless, moderators make the decisions and you just have to live with it.

PS. is it legitimate for me to get 2 warnings on the same post?

Well, I for one, U2U'd all Mods of this forum to respectfully complain about about members still posting their predictions here after being told it would no longer be used for member predictions....I'd open up the forum thinking it was going to be a prophecy discussion and it would be another, I feel, this, or I predict that ....the Admins of this board has provided a place for such things, just not here, what's the big deal? Perhaps a bit of egotism that those you want to see it, won't because it is at BTS instead of ATS? This decision has been made and all the whining and wussing won't change it...it's the final say so of those that run this board....not anyone...get oever it alread...sheeeeeeeesh!

This forum is just going to be the same repeatitive discussions on the same prophits. User perdictions should be allow, but none of the "I have a bad feeling" and "I had a dream" nonsense. As someone else put it, this forum did not need to be changed, just moderated a little better.

Complaining about people is pretty low, do you not have anything better to do with your time then to U2U mods tattle tailing on other members?
