The website BeautifulPeople.com -- designed for people who like mirrors -- claims to have booted 30,000 members who weren't pretty enough or handsome enough to meet their standards.

The site claims that the substandard lookers snuck onto the site's rolls with the help of a online virus dubbed Shrek, named after the good-hearted but unsightly ogre of the same name.

Well I thought this was interesting. Apparently a computer virus "shrek" allowed people that signed up to be accepted as a member even if they didn't get enough votes from current members to join.

We are a vain people for sure. But I thought this story is alternitive news for sure.

What do you think of this type of webservice ATS?

I think it's sad when the term beautiful only seems to apply to what is seen on the outside.

The sound of the word substandard member is unbelievable.

Can you imagine if ATS only accepted members who looked like conspiracy theorists in their photo's...what a weird bunch we would be then indeed!

i dont think much of dating sites

hard up people use them because now "mating" has become like shopping

it speaks to this countrys soul where if you got the cash we got the commodity.

i think its legalize prostitution pay a fee look for someone who interests you and then see what happens.

but I decided against it. But I am awful glad you did.

I guess some people hold higher standards
when it comes to appearances.

No wonder young girls are starving themselves
to try and look like models just to be accepted
and be called beautiful.

Sets a bad precedence over-all.

But I guess the site name plays a role
in that decision.

Sounds like a ploy for attention/advertisement. There isn't a virus that allows ugly people to sign up. It was most likely the lack of moderators to kick the ugly people out, or the ugly people used fake pictures. How vague is the "virus" line?
