Anonymous targeting Federal Reserve in next attack

news.cnet.com

The Anonymous hacker group says it plans to target the Federal Reserve starting tomorrow, most likely with a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack designed to shut down the agency's Web site.
In a YouTube video, the group is calling for public protests until Federal Reserve Board Chairman Ben Bernanke steps down. The campaign, dubbed Operation Empire State Rebellion, is timed to coincide with Flag Day in the U.S., which is June 14 and commemorates the adoption of the national flag in 1777.

The Youtube video in question.. and yes we had it well before the MSM did.

A spokesperson from the Federal Reserve in Washington, D.C., did not immediately provide comment today.

Well, Malaysia, Turkey, Spain, the FED... they get around, no?

What's the big hurry? Perhaps this is "political" in and of itself.

Meanwhile, someone broke into the network of the International Monetary Fund recently and stole data, although Anonymous is not believed to be responsible for that attack. It's possible that the IMF breach was a result of an employee getting infected by a malicious e-mail, since the agency reportedly is now warning employees not to open e-mails and video links without first authenticating the source.

Even I thought Anonymous was behind the IMF attack... now they went from blaming them, to governments, and now... bad e-mail security.

Eyes open everyone... repercussions inbound!

Hopefully they don't do anything that makes our money worthless... oh wait a sec... too late.

So what if Bernanke steps down? He'll just be replaced by some other globalist puppet. As a Network Security professional, I must laugh out loud at the DDoS attack. What in the hell is that going to accomplish? Oh I know, we won't be able to go on their website and read all of the lies and propaganda about the Fed. Maybe this is a good thing after all. The way to stop the Fed is to surround it with a platoon of combat Marines and seize everything inside it.

Ultimately a DDoS attack is not 'life-threatening' to this institution.... but, it is an inconvenience and an embarrassment for those who run the world.... not being able to surf the web, send emails, make Skype calls, etc.

But at any rate, they are non-violent, so it represents action of some kind, as opposed to the "theater" we are treated to by our representatives.

I like the fact that they announce it, and then do it. That's ballsy.

It's interesting to see the power, uh, disempowered in a sense.

This seems like one of those Bernard Snitzel deals. Endless false flag internet and site hacks.

Now as the naive and somehow mentally challenged public wait, someone on capital hill is thumbing through an "internet security" bill. Or, to save some steps the POTUS could issue an executive order.

The "Internet Security and Safety Act" or some such garbage.

Anonymous Mission Statement: Create constant false flags so that Obama can use his internet kill switch

It's that simple!

People on ATS tell me that's not how hackers are
Really?
So hackers tell the entire world who their next target is?
No they don't, so what do govt. subsized false flag hackers do?

They try to round up as much media attention about the false flag as possible.

Your not understanding....If they make Bernake step down they can make anyone that follows him step down as well. They know as well as you and I that Bernake controls little. But if he eventually does step down it shows that We The People have power, and are starting to wield it.

And that scares the powers that be more than anything

It isn't just about hacking and DOS, these are being carried out in conjunction with on the ground public protests.

This is Civil Disobedience

In a movement that the infamous hackers are dubbing "CTRL+ALT_BERNANKE," the group is calling for protesters across the country to rally against the chairman on Tuesday, June 14—Flag Day. “We cannot remain passive while our future is going up in flames,” Anonymous warns. “It is time for us to stand up for ourselves. It is time for you to stand up for yourself. We must restore the rule of law and fight back against the organized criminal class. We must now launch operation Empire State Rebellion.”

According to DeGraw, "if you are one of the 99 percent of Americans, you have the core common sense goal to achieve" the mission statement outlined by Anonymous.

It is not just about Ben -

This Flag Day, Tuesday June 14th, we will launch a non-violent social movement with this list of demands:
* End the campaign finance and lobbying racket
* Break up the Fed & Too Big to Fail banks
* Enforce RICO laws against organized criminal class
* Order Ben Bernanke to step down
The Banks - #BofA #Citibank #Chase #WF #Ally

It's not just about Anonymous -

People who spent their career working on Wall Street are “done sitting idle while the market is rigged in favor of a handful of politically connected global banks and firms.” The people who are taking it upon themselves to take action and spread the word come from all walks of life. Emails have come in from people in the military, veterans, police, firefighters, real estate brokers, lawyers, doctors, nurses, construction workers, accountants, Wal-Mart workers, union members, union haters – they’re all coming together on this. Teachers and students have been strong supporters. College students and recent graduates are feeling completely trapped in debt. Their awareness of their limited opportunities and lack of financial security moving forward is very evident. And, of course, the activists and hacktivists are coming out in force.

We all know that the Central Banking Cartel is at the heart of what is wrong in the world today, we can either stand up and show our protest for their continued tyranny or maintain the status quo and by doing such give your quiet support to TPTB.

You can follow on AmpedStatus or OpESR Ground Control

That's not Anonymous, those are done by LulzSec - Lulz Security

They were responsible for PSN - LulzSec: "We're hacking Sony right now"

This is an approach that may yield change.

Problem is, any new system created will only be corrupted (even if slowly) by those with the greatest wealth.

Yeah all this hacking looks a bit rushed and without a solid plan, which means ultimately it will benefit the PTB more than the confused public. I would have definitely preferred no attacks yet till millions of americans where in washington dc protesting FOR KNOWN REASONS!

With this false flag they can rush some internet censorship bill through and the dummies will think its justified. The PTB realise they need to stop independent and reliable information asap before everyone is on the same page. Thats why the government wants violence now rather than next year or 3 years from now; its like relieving pressure from the boiler before it explodes and allows them to buy more time. Not enough people appreciate the free web yet!

All they will find there is some loose change and a few tungsten bars.

Anonymous will be the excuse the powers that be need to lock down the Internet
and spoil it for all.

Anonymous == Terror group

Terror group is right.

Many here on ATS seem to think these people are doing good things and applaud their efforts. I often see many of these same people stating the world would be better off without humans, looking forward to some great ELE. Most of these people im sure are misguided children, but some of them are downright deranged.

Its only a matter of time till one of these spoiled, self-rightous hackers decides to take on the US defense system or Chinese missle command centers.

Awesome. If they only do a single thing while they are going at this, maybe they can at least shut the printing presses down and flash the firmware to oblivion.

Maybe this could be the thing that prompts TPTB to activate the kill switch, and I say good. Without the internet as a distraction, maybe people will finally wake up and be pissed off when they do and begin looking to put some heads on a pike.

This is to prove that even with a multi billion dollar security infrastructure in place that they can get "got" at an hour of someone else's choosing and not theirs.

This is to expose them and show them how vulnerable they truly are. They think they own us but this is to flip the script and to challenge them electronically.
