Anyways...

Hey woodwytch. It says you're a past life regression therapist? (i apologize if I'm going off topic) but I'd like to see about learning my past life and what impact it's having on me in this life if possible. Can I talk to you in pm? Or skype or sometthing? Whatever is convenient for you?

Me too ... I was so disappointed to have missed their contribution to the thread ... I bet it was hilarious

Must have been one of the shortest memberships in ATS history ... I'm quite honoured that out of a site this big they picked my thread to make their mark on.

I have a thread on here about PLRT I'll find the link for you because it has a 'self-regression' script you might like to try.

I feel you hit on the stuff I've been working on and doing. I know I need to be my own teacher etc. but I feel that there is something more that I need to see and feel. If you don't wish to give me another card I'll understand. There are other people who need one more then me and you were already kind enough to give me one reading. If you don't wish to give me a reading I'll understand just let me know.

What a fun and generous thing to do for us all. Got a card for me? Thanks in advance.

You musta clicked on the "REPLY-TO" button on my post you big sillyhead...
next time just go down to the bottom of the thread and below the last post of the current page you find yourself on, there are Reply buttons down there. Or, as another option, if you are less than halfway down the page, you might want to do an "aboutface"
and march on up back to the top of the thread and you will find the same.
I have a feeling the woodwytch, with her witchy ways, *giggle*, will somehow know to draw you a card, but this is more to give you a reminder in case you didn't notice yet. It happens to me all the time and I've been here for over a year with various usernames. To be clear these were used consecutively not simultaneously. So, it happens to the best of us... Not sayin I'm one of the best, but I feel confident that it does happen to them too, whoever those best of people are... Hmmm, wonder what they're up to... Gonna have to keep an eye out for this elusive, shadowy band of merrymen and women. Just to clarify I didnt check your signup date, so if you are not a new member then I apologize, as it was not my goal to make you the subject of ridicule. A good reminder never hurt anyone though so hopefully you will receive it in the spirit of brotherly and sisterly love.
You are however, correct in your assessment of what is being offered. It is extremely generous, and also a fun way to get to know eachother and learn something new. Happy Trails PS I know its real because it gave me very good advice about 9 months ago. Love advice. That's what I'm here for because the dynamics of my relationship will change in a significant way in the following months. Also I have a concern for personal danger within the same timeframe and I don't want anything to interfere with my still relatively new relationship. And obviously I don't want my personal health or freedom to be in jeopardy either.

While I'm here, thanks to the wytch and I look forward to giving you a detailed assessment if I have any fingernails left by then. It could be sore to type once I've chewed my fingers down to stumps. Kidding of course! The thread has been a delight and I've enjoyed your personality in your replies, its been well worth the wait so far. I hope you enjoy your time with your family, cause I can't stand mine

Understandable, please take time to relax on this nice day. I'm excited to see my card (I've had mine read twice before and it just happened that I recieved the same card twice) and to begin the practice of tarot cards. I was looking thru decks and I found the Osho Zen Tarot deck. Probably start with that deck. Peace and enjoy your day

I'd like a reading if it is not too much of a challenge. Also, I would think that a Tarot Card reading should only be done when the person is present so that you are able to "read" the person as well as the card. Do you find this to be true and you can only give vague readings thru this medium? Lastly, I am interested in reading Tarot cards and have started some research on them. Do you have any suggested readings that may help me? Thanks Woodwytch

Hey there ImmortalThought ...

You raise a good point ... a 1-2-1 Tarot Reading is much more detailed partly because you have the energy of the person having the reading to shuffle the deck ... and of course by doing a full reading (using more cards) you can build up a fuller picture of what has / is / could happen to the recipient ... I say 'could' because the client has freewill and they may choose not to follow the advise of the cards ... and therefore the outcome is not guaranteed ... but I think it's safe to say (from the feedback so far) that even drawing a card for someone I have never met and know nothing about ... is obviously quite vague in comparrison ... but can still provide them with some basic pointers by picking-up on the gist of their life ... one way or another.

As for a recommended spread (Horseshoe / Celtic Cross) I don't use a set spread ... I have my own spread that I usually draw 3 initial cards to give me a starting point and some direction ... then I build the other cards around that to develop the reading in more depth ... I always continue a reading until it reaches a natural conclusion ... and I never end a reading on a negative card without showing the client how to avoid / deal with the situation ... this means that some readings may contain a dozen cards ... whilst others may have fifteen ... even twenty (if that's what it takes to give the client the fullest reading).

Why would I use the same style or amount of cards for everyone when no two people or the reason they came for a reading is ever the same ?

I would suggest you 'feel' your way through a reading rather than restricting yourself to a set pattern.

The Card Drawn For You Is - 4 of SWORDS

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/10f636f93dee.jpg[/atsimg]

This card suggests that you have experienced a period of either conflict ... or intense work and now you are seeking rest and respite ... you need to replenish your batteries (don't risk making yourself ill) a good way to do this is to feed the soul ... look into spiritual practices to gain solace. This is an ideal time to reassess who you really are and what you want from your life ... meditation could be very valuable to you when making decisions about your future

Thank you very much for the reading.

It is not apparently obivous to me where your lovely reading applies in my life as everything at the moment is in turmoil.

The card will help me to examine each situation more closely and it certainly has been thought provoking.

Thank you for the time and effort and keep up the great work

This thread is a great read!!

Maybe the turmoil you speak of is because there are too many balls in the air at the moment and you need to streamline things ... this would involve choice and sacrifice to some degree ... but you would soon reap the rewards of such action rather than being bogged down ?

Just a thought. Woody

Hi Woody--
I've been lurking here for years, but you my friend, have flushed me out. I've always enjoyed your posts, and I'm very grateful that you're offering to help us.
I used to read Tarot, but put it down after I read for a friend and learned so much more about him than I had ever known. Nor wanted to know...
So, all this to ask if you could do a reading for me as well, I've been struggling for years and I'm really hoping you can shed some light on this.
I realize I'm late to the party, and that you're only on page 4 of this thread, but I hope you don't mind reading for one more...

First post!
Thanks again, Woody.

Right on, I see your logic in your spreads and agree. Thank you for the reading I would say that you know what you are talking about because today is my only day off during the week and I def. use for relaxing. I've also had a recent change in career and have been deeply meditating on how to carry out this new path. Lastly, I wanted your opinion not on tarot card readings (sorry should of been more clear in my question), but books that I could use in my study of tarot. Thanks again Wood, very enlightning peace.

You made your request on Page 11 ... so why on earth would you think you should jump the queue of those who have been waiting longer that you

That is not being patient

And in the time it's taken me to explain this to you I could have read another card for someone and been one place closer to reading yours

I will get to you in sequence so that it is fair to everyone.

Hey not sure if this has been mentioned already but you can get your own free tarot now over at www.facade.com

The only bad thing is that its hard to draw a firm conclusion from the descriptions given for each card. give it a shot though its lots of fun!

Great thread, S&F. Just by chance i've decided to study tarrot myself recently after my mother who is also a reader passed me her cards. I've done the reading about the history of tarrot etc and im slowly learing each individual card. Im using a Rider Waite set of cards but finding it difficult to remember particular cards because of the older illistrations particularly the minor arcana. But how long did it take before you conducted your first reading may i ask? Also any chance of a daily card and should i stick with the deck i've got? Any responce will be much appreciated

Hey there Lewis7777,

Ok, now to answer your questions;

#1 Many years ago I started with the 'Astro-Tarot' deck designed by Russell Grant, that came complete with an instruction book. As the name suggests they were actually a combination of astrology and tarot ... great for beginners although I'm not sure if they are still available.

Then like you I progressed to the Rider Waite deck ... and also like you I had trouble remembering the definitions of the minor arcana (suits). However, rather than seeing this as a hinderance I used it as a good learning tool ... because rather than reading the cards parrot fashion (definition from the book for each card) I was forced to fill in the blanks that I couldn't remember by using my intuition / psyche (call it what you will) that produced definitions depenent of the other cards around them (which often vary slightly from what you would read in the instruction books but turned out to be equally ... if not more relevent to the person having the reading).

After the Rider Waite deck I discovered the 'Tarot Of The Ages' deck when I was in Cornwall researching the details of my first set of pastlife memories that I wrote about in my first ebook (The Cornish Burning) for authentication - (details on my website); www.pastlivesparanormalandpagans.webeden.co.uk...
These are beautiful cards that I found I worked with much better than the Rider Waites ... they felt more compatible and personal ... but as with everything it's all about finding the ones that suit you / your nature / your personality best.

The cards that I am using on this thread are The Druidcraft Tarot Deck ... and I'm using these because they are so accessible ... the colours and symbolism in the pictures is so generous that even those with little or no knowledge of the Tarot could look at them and hazard a guess as to the meaning behind them in most cases.

On the Tarot Page on my website (see link above) I add a 'Daily Tarot Card' ... which is very general (a little like reading your stars in the daily paper) ... but it gives a flavour of the day to come if you will ... and besides the actual card meanings ... I have also added pages covering the 'Totem Animal' definitions and 'Plant Symbology' displayed in many of the cards in this deck that can also be checked-out to add extra depth to the individual card.

Remember ... the cards are only prompts ... they are nothing magical and/or paranormal in themselves ... they are merely pieces of card with different pictures on and each picture has a predetermined definition. It is only once you get the gist of the meanings behind the pictures that your intuition / psyche steps in and builds a bigger picture in your minds-eye that allows you to add depth to your reading ... in short you have to trust your inner-sense(s) ... it is only self-doubt that will prevent you giving a good reading.

#2 I read for friends and family after only a few weeks ... but read from the definitions from the Tarot Book that I learned from at the time ... just for fun really and I used to (and still do) read for myself if there is something going on in my life that I'm unsure of how to deal with / direction I should take etc. I was never confident enough to read for people I didn't know ... or even read for those that I did know without my trusty book.

In fact it was a good few years before I read for an unknown ... and without my book ... and it was a happy and very successful accident

It came about when a friend and I opened-up our own therapy practice and shop. The plan was that my friend was going to be reading the Tarot and practicing Reiki ... whilst I would be practicing Pastlife Regression ... holding weekend Workshops and giving Talks (about the real Craft from a traditional perspective) and Meditation Tutorials.

That was the plan !

However, the week we opened my friend was away on holiday so I was left holding the fort so to speak. The first day we were open for business a lady came in and asked for a Tarot Reading. Now, what I meant to tell her was that my collegue who would be doing the readings was away ... but I could make her an appointment for the following week (I even had the appointment book in my hand). What I actually said was yes ... would you care to come throught to the Reading Room ... even as the words were leaving my lips panic was coursing through my veins and the little voice in my head was sceaming 'WTF are you doing woman' !!!

Outwardly I remained calm ... sat at the table with her ... did her reading ... and she was an extremely satified customer. After the first few cards were drawn and I found I knew exactly what I was doing I just slipped right into it ... and have never looked back. It was the most amazing sense of achievement and my confidence grew ... from that point I never referred to the book again (never needed to) and I couldn't believe I'd never dared do it sooner. After all that time reading for family and friends only ... I loved reading for people I knew nothing about because I knew I was not subliminally influenced in my readings by of the things I already knew about them. Nowadays I find it a real hinderance to read for people I know for that very reason.

The key (as to most things) is confidence ... and confidence only comes with practice ... and giving yourself a little push occasionally

I would suggest you start reading for people you know now (initially use the book to get your bearings ... then do a reading next time without the book) ... then ask them if they have a friend (who you don't know) that would like to be a Tarot guinea-pig. When you come across a card that you can't remember just look at the cards around it and see what comes into your head ... if the recipient doesn't relate to what you tell them just remember ... you may not be wrong in your reading ... it may simply relate to something that hasn't happened yet.

One thing I would definately avoid is giving time spans (this is going to happen in 3 weeks ... next month etc) because the recipient has freewill and timescales can change because of their actions (or lack of) ... and never leave someone hanging on a negative card ... always finish on a positive of how they can avoid / resolve any problems / obstacle that may have cropped-up in the reading.

Maybe start with small 3 card readings and gradually expand ... don't restrict yourself to set spreads.

Ok, after all that let's see what we have for you,

The Card Drawn For You Is - 10 of PENTACLES

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/25b05822a591.jpg[/atsimg]

This card indicates some kind of choice to be made either within the family ... or that might effect the family (even possibly your local community). If there have been any family feuds then you are urged to turn away from them and resist the urge to act recklessly ... alternatively you could be struggling with demands being made on you by the family.

However, you are reminded that even difficult circumstances can hide hidden benefits ... there will be a chance to count your blessings that could involve the receipt of some kind of legacy or the chance to create one.

Good luck with the Tarot and enjoy.

Woody

And thanks alot for giving us all the chance to participate in this (some, like me, maybe for the very first time).

Hey there Tollon ... thank-you for the kind words and I love your avatar picture btw,

The Card Drawn For You Is - 6 WANDS

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/c790accad7bd.jpg[/atsimg]

If your confidence has been dented in some way ... or your self-esteem is a little shaky then don't be tempted to turn down something offered to you because you think you are not up to the task ... alternatively do not be tempted to turn something down because of pride / arrogance and you think it's beneath you. If you do then you could loose out.

You have the potential to be a skilled leader and this offer could be your gateway to success either in the fields of legal dealings / property transactions / job promotions. Definately some kind of victory.
