This really doesn't look like a blimp though. Here in Los Angeles they're always floating and bobbing about. Living right near LAX and a small airstrip I see more than my fair share of aircraft. My main question would be to determine if the report is legit because if it is, it's a bit bizarre.

Some questions:

0.) Are we looking at the side or the front of the hypothetical blimp?
1.) If we're looking at the side, shouldn't we be seeing movement?
2.) If it's the front why does it appear so elliptical? Furthermore shouldn't it appear to get smaller or bigger as it travels closer or further away from the camera?
3.) Where are the lights?
4.) If this is a real news broadcast (which it appears to be) wouldn't they just call the local airstrips to confirm the blimp launch? Or couldn't they have just tracked it by vehicle to get a better look? Blimps aren't exactly known for their speed.

We have a new channel that is aimed at entertainment, rather than pure hard investigative journalism......so we can perhaps expect their news broadcasting to reflect this.......after all if they discovered it was a blimp.....then no UFO news story.... right?

That's a distinct possibility! I remember watching an episode on Fact or Faked where they caught a broadcast news video editor red-handed. He admitted outright that he had added in some fun background animation of a little alien dude walking about the scene to spoof the viewership. So if this video is to be taken seriously someone would have to question the people at KZ News. That said I still don't think it's a blimp. If it was a fake I'm pretty sure it was post-edited in because really we should see some form of movement. This would also imply some form of collusion between the reporter, the cameraman, and the video editor.

I also left a message on the youtube video asking the people there to help us translate it to English. Hopefully someone will reply back.

I will be back with a translation in half an hour. It won't be perfect as both Russian and English aren't my native languages, but I think I can handle it.

The beginning is a bit sloppy (too fast spoken) for me to make out for sure, but all in all it goes something like this:

An amazing occurance is currently happening here in Almatia. For more than an hour the locals have been observing this strange Unidentified Flying Object that you can see behind my head.
Scientists (and officials?) are still failing to identify what the object is. Stay tuned as we will keep you updated about the further evolving of this situation.

It isn't perfect but the translation I'm providing gives a pretty decent idea what she was saying.

Curious what were/will be the updates to this.

Now I will read the whole thread and watch the other videos as this now seems a bit interesting.

Looking at the comments on youtube, that guy, theAmirZB said that it is a viral advertising for a group called Urker. I have trouble registering at this kiwi.kz website as it requires one to view the video he posted a link to, if any of you guys manage to register could you try and download the video and up it to youtube so we could make sure whether that's the case?

The youtuber, for one, seems sure in his explanation.

2nd edit to add - one of the comments under this one (www.youtube.com...) states the following:

"I'm from Almatia! We were two people heading for Arbat. Somewhere around 1-2 o'clock at noon we incidentally took notice of the sky. Just then we noticed this black "stain" in the sky and we were amazed. It got [snip uncensored word] scary. I don't believe this was a UFO (I think he meant E.T. craft) but still..."

Will try and dig for an alternative source, at least we have the name of the musical band so it shouldn't be too hard. One thing I can say for sure - there was something in the sky, the object in the tv report is real. Now it only remains to prove it was for viral advertising.

I'm not sure if this settles it, mainly because of the reason that this is a video hosting website, and I don't know whether it has any connection with the TV with the report or the band. But that is one hell of a coincidence...

I wonder when will UFOs stop being used for viral advertising.. Probably when the masses stop being dragged to youtube UFO videos of lanterns, etc... Late is always better than never...


edit - An idea, xtraeme, could you try typing in kiwi.kz followed by some random gibberish, so we could confirm whether this 404 is constant for the whole site?

Hrm, well that's odd. The link seems to work in IE. I'll upload the vid to youtube once it's downloaded.

"mar-wih-chi-lin" is the name of the craft type. it supplies their recon and war craft with much needed anti-matter fuel
