I believe we were genetically engineered by aliens, mistaken to be gods thousands of years ago. What I see in evolution is not a change brought about by random mutations and natural selection, but rather an evolution in scientific creation mixed in with art to create living art. I certainly haven't observed god either, but I'm confident that we'll begin to create life soon. Look at the work of Dr. Craig Venter who is creating DNA and using it to create synthetic life. Because of that, I have to question whether or not we may have been created in a similar way.

I agree with the Ancient Alien theory 100%

I don't think that the aliens were 'mistaken' as gods, tho. They were gods, as that was the term to describe an extraterrestrial in ancient times.

Ancient alien hypothesis has about as much supporting evidence as does any average religion. Which is essentially zero. Any rational person would have a difficult time believing in something with such a dearth of evidence.

I am in between religions right now. I have went through 12 denominations so far. I read there is over 30,000 religions structured on the bible. So ..I have a long way to go to find (That one) that I believe is the right one.

I fear that will not happen...Sigh

Have you checked out the Urantia Book? (www.urantia.org...) I would recommend it.

I think they're talking about the red "A" atheist logo.

OP I agree.

I didn't know we had a logo!
How silly.

Still, that doesn't prove the assertion that atheists have a world view. Other than being atheist, that is...

Theists have to deal with Atheists everyday? Really?

How is that? Do they have an Evangelist Atheist TV show? Do they picket your church? Do they come knocking on your door?

I'm really not understanding how they invade your life?

How about injecting every single conversation about religion with their anti-theist behavior? Online and offline? How about deciding to make a national campaign during easter to harass Christians and the celebrations? Or maybe the campaign to buy add space on buses to advocate atheism? Have you heard of this website?

As I said before, these behaviors are NOT because they are atheists, it's because of their personalities.

I'm an atheist and I hadn't seen or heard of these sites. I can only assume that you go in search of them. They don't pop up in my life at all.

What's wrong with advocating their position? Everyone does that.

Well, you & I know they (we) don't have an "atheist worldview".

But as usual, someone who is not an atheist wants to insist that their definitions of atheism are all correct.

That doesn't follow.

To prove a designed universe you need positive evidence, not an if/then argument based on unsupported assertions.

I think the same could be said to prove the universe was not designed. What in the universe shows randomness? Is math random? Is physics? Is chemistry? We live in a universe of law and order. We are a tiny speck in this vast cosmos and just because things don't seem right here doesn't mean the universe is random. To me creation reeks of design. Most Athiests want something that can never be had, proof of a spiritual God. As it was said in the movie contact, prove that you love someone. The only proof that can be imparted is the personal experience of one person to another.

You are in a discussion forum. You are choosing to be here.

As far as Atheists vs Religious - - - feel free to count how many threads have been started on ATS - - by the Religious attacking Atheists vs the other way around.

Offline? I'm Atheist and have never encountered another Atheist.

National campaign to keep government secular. Got it!

The religious don't advertise? So you have a problem with Equal Rights?

Seriously? This is what theists encounter every day?

An "atheist campaign" to harass christians and their celebrations? Never heard of one atheist harassment campaign.

An advertisement on a bus is an invasion? Seriously?

I think you're continuing to over-generalize....

As I stated recently in a thread about AAT:

Attempts at debunking the AAT are done by three groups of people:

1. The deeply religious

They are not ready to add logic, history, and science into their religious dogma because it makes their 'gods' and 'angels' tangible, physical beings that are not magical and are not in control. This makes them know that there is no 'god' in the sky that has there best interest at heart, granting 'prayers'. It leaves them responsible for their own fates.

2. Hardcore atheists

They are not ready to pick the bible back up, plain and simple. They don't want to acknowledge hidden history among ancient civilizations that spoke about 'the ones that came from heaven', even though there was no way for these civilizations to be on the same accord with stories about the gods. In fact, they detest acknowledging any affirmation of a 'god' period. To them, we simply evolved from primates, untouched and without interference overnight 'somehow' over a long, long time.

3. Arrogant scientists

They are not ready to acknowledge ANY entity that surpasses their intelligence level. They do not want admit that they just may NOT be the 'know-all supreme beings' of the universe; in fact, they really don't like the mention of the word 'extraterrestrial' all that much as it is. Any notion that another race of beings, whether 'gods' or aliens knocks them out of their fantasized position as the highest and most advanced beings.

NEITHER group is ready to face the truth, which is the fact that there were indeed gods who visited Earth, but they were just a more advanced race of beings, sent out on a mission.

Too much evidence supports that our DNA was genetically manipulated (96% primate & 4% "missing link")

WE did not have the mathematical ability nor the advanced machinery to build pyramids in the era that they were built.

We are not the only forms of life, or intelligent life in the universe.

The Ancient Alien Theory is the most logical, most evidential , and most accurate theory to explain mankind's overnight emergence on planet Earth.

I don't think theism IS a world view, but I think most theists HAVE a common world view.

A comprehensive world view (or worldview) is the fundamental cognitive orientation of an individual or society encompassing natural philosophy; fundamental, existential, and normative postulates; or themes, values, emotions, and ethics.

World View

So, yes, I think theists have a common philosophy and normative postulates, themes and values.

.

Could not the same be said of religious followers? Everyone is different, but as an observer what I noticed is that those that speak loudest whether it's coming from the religious side or the atheist side seem to hold on to double standards. If it's a personality thing (for both of course) what exactly is the point of this thread?
