"In an area that you are strong, make him think you are weak..."

Americans believe this Chinese general at your own risk... you have been warned.

Technology does not win wars, if it did we would all be speaking in German.

Quantity is a quality in and of itself that trumps all other qualities.

Sooner or later a war means boots on the ground, China could just swamp any nation in a sea of bodies.

Russia defeated Nazi high tech Germany by shear volume alone, strength in depth.

Don't repeat the mistakes of the past believing in your wonder weapons.

There is also the economic part of the equation to consider and they have already won that war.

Now, imagine that the Nazis had a weapon that could wipe out all living organisms in Russia.. Do you think they would of used it if it was possible to deploy? Would millions of Russians have had any chance against the fire of a nuclear apocalypse?

1 billion soldiers are moot if you can atomize all of them in the split-second it takes to press a button. Of course anyone who chooses this path of destruction eventually loses, too, but there are many with the outlook of "taking as many down with me as I can". If another "world war" broke out, I'm afraid there would be no winners, but billions of losers. Many people are deathly afraid of some natural dooms-day event, when in reality, we are much more likely to kill ourselves off then any comet/rogue planet/pandemic/death-chicken/etc.

The Chinese know this (the US doesn't).

Don't think the US doesn't also have all kinds of mind-blowing weapons technology that the world has yet to see.
Teleportation has been publicly accomplished; The Navy made public that they have a laser gun that can burn through 40 feet of steel per second; US anti-gravity aircraft have been publicly discussed...
If you think that stuff is neat, wait til someone tries to invade us.

And flip open the lid, made in china, electronics?

And no doubt China is still receiving it's monthly uploads of data from US .mil

Is reliance on GPS satellite data, and all things gee-wiz tech ...

Some still have faith in a MIG with analog instrumentation

Pretty soon you don't have room to put chinese and you have to work something out.

Could not see the US being beaten by that tactic either. If it happened the US would just start executing them. It would be that big a problem where extreme action would be needed. I can't see the US ever backing down or losing to anyone on home soil. Possible but highly unlikely. With the best military technology and extremely well armed and patriotic citizens ... Think about it!

Does China even need to worry about the US and the 'mines bigger than yours' posturing??

Look at all the threads in the 'US Political Madness' Forum!

The US Govt is doing everyones work for them.

That's what happens when you pander to corporate interests.

Food and Big Pharma ... "One Child at a time"

China and others have been around for 1000's of years, "patience, my son, is more than a virtue"

Isn't the military having to review enlistment rules due to increasing average weight?

Technology does win wars. Nazi Germany would have stomped right through Russia had they not opened themselves up on so many fronts. It took the combined might of the worlds nations to stop the Nazi war machine, and the reason the US became so technologically successful afterwards was the German scientists and technology we took from them.

Extra bodies are just that, extra bodies. Numbers alone mean nothing. You need to have the logistical capability to move those numbers around. Chinese haven't even gotten the hang of aircraft carriers. How will they move their millions of troops and keep them fed all the while. Russia's technology is a far cry of what it once was so much so they are looking to buy on the open market to upgrade their arsenal. Russia and China aren't the friends you think they are. They have land disputes now still open they may show a combined front for the sake of keeping the US in check but they aren't as chummy as you are made to think.

This General was shown what we wanted to show him. You think we have people just touring our most sensitive information on a whim? His response is typical of the Chinese military strategy. We showed him what we wanted him to see. He told us what he wanted us to hear, doesn't make any of it the truth.

"China does not have the capability to challenge the US."

I'm surprised the Chinese government would allow an admission such as this...even though it is true.

I am surprised by the sophistication of the U.S. military, including its weapons and equipment and doctrines and so on

WTF? Why are the Chinese even privy to any of this? Yeah...let's show 'em what we got
Not a smart move in my book

Of course, they could make that assessment solely based on what is shown in the U.S. media regarding military operations.

are you living in the 1800's dude? you seriously think the US and China would have a Hand to Hand combat in WWIII? you think everyone forgot about their nuclear arsenal? use your brain man, your post is so short sighted and simply would never happen in todays world

secondly, war is simply a con by rich men. countries are not the power anymore, its corporations. they have no ties, no oaths, no agenda except profit.

Maybe I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, or I am just plain angry over not seeing the sun for who knows how long. Or maybe it is the weather pattern I have never seen before hovering over the great lakes but this thread just gotten under my skin.

I can not believe the abject ignorance and stupidity being displayed in this thread; did they let a 6th grade class in here as an experiment? Of course I would not be surprised to find some defense and government shills here keeping the fear alive and preying on the average Americans ignorance and fear.

Here are my FACTS: en.wikipedia.org... Yes we need to spend more, more, more. It takes a lot of loot to keep the world safe for capitalism to exploit.

And to the fool that said technology does not win wars, and the ensuing weak arguments from both sides. If you win a fist fight through better “technique” you prevailed through the use of technology. It was the Russian sniper that did more than anything to halt the Germans, (and mother nature, and a heaping helping dose of arrogance and so on). Not to mention the Russians had two generals in particular that proved to be masters of war in their own right. I am sure all of the dead Iraqis and Taliban thought to themselves; what we need are more bodies to overcome this poor American/ally technology.

I do not misplace my security in the hope that technology will save me either. Anyone who has ever had the experience knows a squirrel or rat can decide that a cable is in their way and turn all that technology into a ball and chain around your neck in a millisecond. I rely on data to make my decisions and form my opinions. And when I see the charts showing the U.S. outspending everyone else on earth I shake my head and wonder who these people are that seem so keen on spreading disinformation? Then add in our allies and the amount of disparity becomes “stupid.” I also come from a military family if you will, so I am not far removed from present tech.

And what is this art of war book? Are the people in our government aware that this text exists? How many died smuggling this book out? Please tell me they have not shared this all powerful text with North Korea, Oh noes, if they have, we are in trouble, we are doomed. We must redouble our efforts, take pay cuts, give up vacation and give 5 free hours of labor each week back to the cause or we will surely parish? Should I write a check to GE? Would that help?

Until they totally castrate the American Male, they can (and will) keep winning on the battlefield using “grit” and nothing else.

What a bunch of rubbish. Former 3380 CES.

The Chinese didn't have the capability to launch anything into space with multi stage to orbit rockets, at least not until president Bill Clinton gave them that technology, of course for peaceful space exploration, and to launch communications satellites etc.

But the Chinese really wanted that capability because it was required for their nuclear armed ICBMs.

The Chinese get what they want, always have, always will, they steal, borrow and buy whatever technology they want, free from research and development on their own, they have exploited the USA for several decades now. Between the USA and China, there can be no secrets. The Chinese are not innovative, they can take technology and exploit it, dominate the markets and more... Actually, for them, this relationship has been very good for the Chinese... Now be a good consumer, go out and try to buy things today that are not manufactured in China, The Chinese have already won the war, they own a large portion of the USA, maybe we can sell them more debt now?

Anyone with half a brain should have known this. It's why I never understood the people on sites like this who yell things like, "China owns us, what will happen when they come to collect".

The U.S. military could defeat every country COMBINED on this planet. The entire planet could wage a war against America and would lose.

All I had to do is read one comment on the Fox board. Mission accomplished Fox....you were able to make some of the brainwashed breath a sigh of relief and I'm sure now they want to press the middle east occupation as far as they can. Hey guys, China says they can't hang.....let light this candle boys!!!

Perhaps the Chinese are not as strong and advanced as the US, but they are rapidly catching up. The difference between the US and China is that China has a sound economic foundation to build on, whereas the US is debt-ridden and the military is already affected by austerity measures (e.g. F-22 production).

It is only a matter of time for China to take over the position as the world largest economy and its military will quickly follow suit.

China probably doesn't want to engage in any kind of conventional external war....ever. Once their soldiers enter any other country, they are probably more likely to surrender for the hope of freedom than pull a trigger.
Sure there may be some elite brainwashed super-soldier units that will always follow orders, but you have to think that the meat of their army is of the common conscript-type who surely doesn't want to be there.

Their military is controlled by fear and opression, the western world's militaries are controlled by propaganda of freedom and righteousness. Attitude will win out....remember the once feared and massive Iraqi Army?
Same thing.

Actually no!
The Germans were defeated by Mother nature and a stubborn attitude, just like Napoleon got his.
The Russians just practiced the "scorched earth" plan and ran.
Burn everything you plan on leaving behind so nothing can be used.
The winter and sheer size got the Germans, but wars are not primarily faught on the ground nowadays.

The truth is that China doesn't have to challenge US militarily because economically they are way ahead of us, so what is more important for a nation, their status militarily or economically.

While many will scream "militarily" the truth is that in this time and age is actually economically, remember that part of the two wars US wagged in the middle east were financed with the help of China buying our debt.

Okay, I don't know if this was mentioned before and I don't want to sound ignorant but I heard mentioned on the radio, all be it briefly, that the Chinese Army was stationed (and growing) at the US/Mexico Border. I've done a basic search of the internet and came up with very little evidence to prove this. The only actual mention of it seems to come from Rense.com

The Aztlan Liberation Army is a Communist Army funded by the Communist Chinese and Cuba.

They are trained in Mexico by Cubans and Chinese, with a few expatriot Russians and Sandenistas thrown in for flavor.

Their purpose is to declare war on the United States of America and take back the lands that the United States stole from Mexico in 1848.

A brief search for the "Aztlan Liberation Army" came up with this: Aztlan, Nationalism, and the True Enemy of Our People

The Chinese alone may not have the capabilities to attack the United States, but they certainly have the money and technology to back someone else. What if the first wave of attacks comes from a well funded, well organized and highly trained rogue army, enough to allow China the opportunity to strike on a second front.
