CDC Warns Public to Prepare for 'Zombie Apocalypse'

And people wonder why the US is broke and on the brink of bankruptcy: because they waste money, and pay people in high level government agencies to write in a blog about something that in all likelihood will never happen. This sickens me to the core. I go to work 5+ days a week for 8+ hours a day to pay taxes...for what? This? What a damn shame. Totally disgusted. These people should be fired, plain and simple.

That's strange. I was saying almost the exact same thing before this Zombie report. I think this paper was one of the most redemptive things they've ever done. They are a little less evil in my book now.

Where i live a crazy dog came out of no where, and attacked children at a bus stop, it got on the bus and chased and bit kids. It finally had to be shot, 3 times, once in the head...

Does anyone else feel that the graphic nature of that show is somehow trying to prepare us for what an actual end of the world scenario might look like?

To 'soften the blow'..? Desensitizing us to the idea of people getting their heads blown, hacked or smashed off..

'...Because they are a lost cause, and a threat to the rest of us.. Kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out..'

Don't get me wrong - I love the show. I just feel like it wouldn't have been commissioned even five years ago with that graphic gore and pseudo-bloodlust... Like maybe there's a reason?

Also note the scenes where the military 'lose it', behave like pack animals - and massacre NON-infected doctors and civilians.

And how the CDC itself is portrayed as impotent - 'the government has headed for the hills; you're on your own...'

I actually JUST finished watching The Return Of The Living Dead (one of my top 10 fave movies) so this is a lot more frightening then it should be right now lol.

Such a strange coincidence since I rarely watch zombie flicks (because I'm horrified of the idea and they make me paranoid for hours) and its nowhere near halloween, so it just seems so strange that there would be anything to do with zombies anywhere right now.

I don't know about anyone else - yet I've noticed a subtle hinting of disaster preparedness from various gov agencies (NASA, Homeland Sec, Fema, now CDC, etc). Probably just due to all the recent natural (or man made) disasters.

Also it could be because the US gov will not come out and say a major disaster is imminent and scare everyone into a panic - So I'm guessing that their only real alternative is to passively warn people to be prepared for whatever it is they may know about (without actually telling the people what that may be).

The good side to this is that it would mean they are not expecting the end of the world - since there would be no reason to promote preparedness for a catastrophic extinction event. I presume in that case they would just keep completely quiet and let it happen..

Either way I prefer a zombie apocalypse before a nuclear apocalypse (if I had a choice) - Yet, I still put alien invasion as my primary choice...

I noticed you had a site in your reply the first mention of zombies was a creation in a movie. No religion mentions one. There has never been a single documented account of one. This rage is from video games. My ten year old son plays them, it's pure fantasy.

Aliens same thing. a Movie creation. At first they were Martians remember? Well we researched Mar's and guess what. They proved their weren't any. So now they are Aliens. Look up the definition of Alien.

hahaha what the hell?! do they allways need us to be afraid of something? its almost like our fear generates some sort of energy someone or some force needs. keep the fear coming and be sure to change the flavor even if it involves flesh eating zombies. im sure theres some necromancers out there saying the flesh never dies blah blah blah this is real. cmon really?! zombies?! people are actually commenting on this like it could happen. the closest thing this world has to zombies is some sort of powder that makes you appear dead for a certain amount of time. ever see the movie serpent and the rainbow? im really starting to question the motives of this thread

zombies are real just not like in the movies study tribal cultures they made zombies with fish poison and human flesh cant remember what else went into the mix ( it was giving to their wariors before battle) but it was a sicking video i think it was a old national geo.

Come on guys you should all be ashamed of yourselves making jokes and fun of a very serious situation. The CDC are absolutely correct in bringing this to the attention of the people, and I wish we had one in England.

Just this morning on my journey to work I noticed a number of zombies. When not devouring human flesh I notice they happen to pose as commuters on London transport, I believe this to be a tactical ploy?

A perfect disguise they try blending in with the commuters however if you look closely you will notice several tell tale signs of zombification. Like me even before the sun is up they have sun shades on is it because they are missing eye balls I don't know. You will find them predominately on London buses sitting on the upper deck pretending to sleep with deformed steaming heads leaning against the windows. Occasionally they twitch and moan probably because they have passed a local food source being a bus stop with easy prey for the taking.

Never have I noted a zombie speaking or communicating with anybody else as I believe the capability of coherent speech is not a possibility in such a death like state. The South London zombies have a rather distinct smell about them like the stench from a backed up toilet and they seem to be attracted to those that smell freshly bathed as they always manage to sit within sniffing range.

I shall remain vigilant whilst on public transport and would advise you all do the same god save humanity from these early morning monsters.

Have you ever seen a rabid person strapped to a hospital bed? It's not a pleasant sight or thought!

Just saying for the benefit of all of those who say "It has never happened, it can't happen, it won't happen! It's all fiction no fact! Believe it, it happens!

I find it totally plasuable that they made a zombie bio weapon but it is ovbious that the cdc is having a laugh. And yes if they keep avrage people in fear of rediculas things it takes their mind off of how much they are paying for food etc. also incurages them to buy extra so they are prep. for when nothing or something i guess we will never know hits the fan .
But if they are privy to some good intell and inform the public about it in joke format that would be sad indeed. Go to bed having a good laugh wake up to someone trying to eat your brains that would have to be the worst morning ever esp if it was a loved one or someone you know.

Sorry, not impressed.

Besides, I don't trust the Govment for ANYTHING.
