Why do you think they are railroading the chief of the IMF?

I don't keep up with the IMF, but I am seeing many articles on him that normally for someone of that prestige would be buried under tons of other news stories. Did he do something to stand in the way? Or have they been toying with other countries money so much that they had to get him out?

They seem to be tearing him up pretty good. Like a wounded fish in an ocean of sharks.

There has been a number of comments on this man tonight on the tv, most of which say he was an unbelievable womaniser and on Newsnight Jeremy Paxman spoke to a woman involved with the IMF (I think) and she said something on the lines that he was about to resign. Whether this was due to his pouncing on the maid, one is not sure..

My guess is that he was about to release info about a major deal gone wrong, or he was standing in the way of some other deal they wanted, and the IMF needed to discredit him in a hurry, or TPTB needed to ensure that he didn't become President of France, or make sure that he didn't attend whatever meeting he was flying to Europe for in the first place.

Given the amount of media attention suddenly focused on this guy, especially as by all accounts he's done this sort of thing before without any sort of media attention, someone wanted him strongly discredited, both very quickly, and very publicly.

Because he tried to rape a maid. Because he's obviously gotten away with it before, and he finally came upon someone who fought him off.

I say put him in jail, and let him find out how it feels..

Anyone remember some guy named...Julian Assange?

A leak or two...a rape charge or two?

Maybe some pre-emptive action to prevent a leak?

You just beat me to it, how better to discredit somebody than to slap them with a rape and or child molestation charge.

Why would this guy jump on a maid when you could call a hot 3k an hour call girl. Deny ignorance!

The sense of power to get a freebie from a "lowly" maid considering his great wealth and power?

Because he must be against the powers that be. Nuff said..... Sorry for the one liner. Hell I will make it two. Anyone who bucks the system of those in power over there get frame setup or take an afternoon dirt nap.

lol, could be, look at Tiger Woods, a billionaire banging hamburger waitresses but I still feel like it's a scam, who knows.

the guy's also a candidate for the french presidency, or prime minister, or something...
maybe this is just the american way of telling him to shut up and just accept that the dollar is gonna stay the reserve currency....
maybe we are holding him hostage till we get our bailout

or maybe the guy just got caught finally, although I be other high positioned people have gotten caught and well, it was covered up, and buried deep, no prosecution, no shame, no consequences whatsoever...so, well......kind of leads back to why are they railroading him, doesn't it?? because tpb certainly have the means to cover up whatever crimes and bury them, and they aren't in this case....heck, they couldn't even get him out on bail....
bail....out....lol...we want our bail...out!!! then, you can bailout sir!!!

I have wondered that myself!

Further to what Dawnstar said, he's a socialist candidate! (How that fits with the IMF, I don't know, but there you are.)
I know the ATS bias is against socialism, but I am a socialist, and so to me, it's not much of a surprise that they're going after him..

Maybe the guy is just an old pervert scumbag, and the only conspiracy here is he was able to use his wealth to have it swept under the rug until now. The only thing this old guy was going to leak was his pecker juice on some poor maid and she whooped his a$$ I say good for her.

It's probable that Sarkozy felt threatened. This guy was the only person who was touted to win against him.
If Sarkozy has enough friends in the right places ***cough*** then a simple sexual assault charge is about the minimum that could have happened. At worst, he could have committed suicide suddenly from two shots to the back of the neck.

If this is some conspiracy why would he leave his stuff behind and catch a plane in hurry after she was able to get out of room.

Lots of them rape somebody but never get arressted. They claim diplomatic immunity and walk away the pay someone to make it all go away.

I doubt they would go to that much trouble to discredit or silence him when there are a million ways to shut him up for good. He's just a pervert with a big ego who thought he was above the law.
If he's guilty I hope he ends up with a cell mate who shows him the same kind of "affection" he showed the hotel employee.

Obviously New York was a setup, but I think it's a situation where he was guilty of similar crimes several times, but they couldn't nail him, so they set him up and let the other stories (some of which can be substantiated as having been originally made several years ago without charges being brought) roll out. As to why -- since justice is certainly not why -- the fact that eliminating him from his extremely comfortable lead in the French electoral polls could lead to a contest between (those with easily upset stomachs or heart conditions look away here) Sarkozy and Le Pen is probably all we need to know.

Although I think that Napoleon would not think twice above framing DSK as he is known over here, he has a reputation of being a womaniser. He certainly has an eye for the ladies and is well known for his attempts at seduction. In fact, the French news is buzzing this morning. Another woman has come forward with claims that he made unwelcome advances toward her.

Now, this could be a major set-up (as most French still think) or, it could be taken at face value. Although, as of yesterday, I was thinking set-up, I am now starting to bend toward the other theory. It is entirely possible that DSK just went a woman too far.
