Ummm, the last time Congress actually declared war was WW2. Every conflict since then has been by executive order or justified using the War Powers Act.

IMHO it's unconstitutonal anyway as was "the patriot act".("voted" on or not Just because somebody puts it to a vote doesn't amend the constitution with its three equal branches of govt. ).

Unconstitutional or not... if passed it becomes law.

To revoke it you would need to file in the supreme court, with the law in effect already.

Since we are talking absolute power over the militarty, they can simply declare the ones who challenge the law as supporting hostilities against the US and send in the marines to wipe out whoever challenges the constitutionality. Hence, a huge problem with this bill.

There are only 2 ends to this vicious pattern we have set in front of us.

Either we elect Ron Paul who is the only POTUS candidate who understands the Foreign Policy this country was founded on.

Or the US Military needs to wake up and realize they are no longer defending the constitution or the people that the constitution was meant to defend. They are nothing more than the strongest tool of power for the elite. They need to realize they are not cared for by those who send them into these unconstitutional wars. Obama is never going to knock on my door and steal my constitutional rights. He will send one of you. If the military can stand up and say we have had enough there will be nobody left to do the dirty work for these elitists.

I also looked up the Defence guy mentioned in the above blog, Howerd Buck McKeon, who advocates very strong defence (and attack) for the USA. He's a banker by trade and helped in his campaign by Lockeed Martin, Northrop Grunman, General Dynamics and Boeing These lobbyistsd all are interested in warfare and defence, what a cosy little group that makes. He is hardly likely to consider dead soldiers and civilians when he takes a decision.

It infuriatee me that your and our soldiers march to the bankers orders, who are ultimately ruled by the rothschilds. Perhaps we ought to get them out of the closet and make them take on the role of government out in the open, why pay twice for the same service that way if you wish you can get rid of Obama and his groupees? Also with us out of the picture they can use their own little soldiers to do their banking bidding. Then WW3 will only involve those whose fight it is anyway and leave the rest of us in peace.

I may not always believe what the "corporate media" says. HOWEVER, I also don't take what the ACLU says at face value, as they also have their own agenda.

Yes, we are living in a Democracy... which is why things like this happen. This is why we were founded as a Republic, because our Founders believed, and rightly so, that Democracy was the road to socialism and tyranny.

Some of you people disgust me. I had to recheck to make sure I was still on ATS. First off, get your info straight before using your fingers to hit the keys and show your ignorance, I deny you. This is a very important topic, as it is a continuation of an attempt at World dominance, that the US Government has taken upon itself to police the planet and assert its assumed authority regardless of Human Rights or Dignity for that matter. Is it WW3? Who cares! Get over the technicalities of a number. Even if it is WW2012 it doesn't change the fact that the United States has made the declaration that they can legally decide the fate of the people of the World by assumed authority illegally.

We all understand that this is but a continuation of past proclamations and legislative allowances, a loop hole filler as you will, and yet it continues to happen. Just make sure you are bending over while enjoying that brewsky, since that seems to be more important to you.

It is no longer a matter of putting the Government in check for the restrictions placed on its own people. Now it is a matter of fighting for the planet from a global dictatorship that the Government has become. The United States has yet again broken treaties signed with the UN, yet the UN has no recourse, as they themselves have broken it showing the consent of the UN. www.un.org...

It is the Unalienable Right of the People of the Planet Earth to fight for their Freedom from any tyranny or limiting Dictatorship. Wasn't that what it all started with? Nations all over the Globe are standing up and denying ignorance and repression yet the American People sit back and sips a cold one or uses(insert your favorite drug here) instead of following suit. We are allowing this to happen by doing nothing out of fear of our own Government because we are taught to comply.

"Question Authority" was a movement that was spoken, yet here we are, a decade later and we still are allowing the Government to fulfill the prophesy of the "Great War". Oh wait, it's already too late so just sit back and enjoy that beer and pretend it was someone elses fault.

The sneaks have put in in various defense bills, was linked a few pages back.

1) Sign the ACLU Petition - secure.aclu.org...

2) There is also an email template there that you can use to send to your congress man.

3) Get the word out. Raise awareness we can not allow this to happen.
