Considering in all likelihood the Milky Way Galaxy alone has AT LEAST thousands of technologically intelligent races

Bold claims, you likely to get ripped apart for them.
Anyhow, going by the own proven intelligent life in the universe....US, I doubt any advanced aliens would pop in for a quick cup of tea and a chat.
We would be their third world and they would be our colonisers.

What if humans are just an especially nasty species? lol
And I wouldn't say it's a bold claim being there are hundreds of billions of stars in the galaxy. Saying that maybe 0.02% of them have space-faring life isn't that much of a bold statement.

Well it is bold because we have not received any messages from them; be it any type of signal it would not be hard.

I personally believe that ET's are not visiting earth because they do not know about our existence/or they do know of us and can not get here...
We have received messages from others, and my guess is others have received our signals.
Edit: don't forget, it takes years and years to get to the closest star. And that is traveling at light speed...edit on 13-5-2011 by You2Two2AreSpecial because: (no reason given)

Interesting theory.
I have a question that I have to ask if you don't mind. Maybe someone can answer it.
If we need to attain the speed of light = 299 792 458 m / s
What are the implications if we travel at say, just one mile per second slower?
299 792 457 or one mile per second faster? 299 792 459
By not achieving light speed, does this throw the whole theory off? If we go faster, does this do something as well?
I don't know how to look at this so if someone knows, I would appreciate it.
Thanks

As I said I'm just going by the only proven intelligent life.

I actually agree with you, the galaxy and the Universe are so unimagably huge that the odds that there is life out there are better than the odds that there aren't. I just fear other people may see you claim as bold.

Well i'm no expert but I believe if you were to go one-mile-per-second slower the implications would be....that you won't get to your destination as quick .
As for going 1Mps faster, my current understanding is that it is impossible to go faster than the speed of light.
