these are the dreams old people have...

ROFL.

What a great visual. I can see it now. "But my batteries are FULL. WTF. Why isn't this thing working. I can't call anyone and find out if theirs is working!"

Years ago, when my son brought home a paper he did on my computer, I looked at it. It was covered with multiple errors.
I asked what he did wrong and he explained that he used spell check, so there was no problem.

The next day I bought him a typewriter and a dictionary.

He almost called DCFS on me.

With a username like 'partygirl' you think you are ready to take over the world? Alrighty lets see the plans? Just what would this great young generation do to make things better? I would be very pleased to retire and let you all have a go ..if you actually have some plans and policies that might work. I remember having the same idea about 'over 30s' once upon a time - long ago.
I guess history does repeat

Holy smokes!
I thought you were joking.

State Elder Abuse Hotlines

They really have such things.

Also,
When I sent that pistol whip article to my Mom, she replied
"Oh, my. We seem to have taken a wrong turn somewhere."

Do you realize the ignorance that flounders within the age group you mentioned OP?The older generations have something we don't, experience through years of trial and error that cannot be taught like a trig class. You mentioned keeping them as advisors. You know as well as I most of us don't listen for # so what good would an advisor do?

As a 20 year old, I can honestly say I am embarrassed by people like the OP. You must not be a very social person, because if you were you would know that most (I'd definitely say at least 85%, at the very LEAST) of our generation are very ignorant, pompous, and lazy. Out of my entire social circle I would only confidently hire 1 or 2 of my peers for working purposes, the rest may have decent work ethic but they have piss poor attitudes on life and the world in general. You would have to be a complete psychopath to restrict important positions of authority to 20-30 year olds. A person does not need to be a certain age to be a leader, it can be a 16 year old in high school or a 65 year old retired man. Age has absolutely nothing to do with making good decisions for the future, you act as if everyone over 30 is just like "Screw it, I don't care, I'm not gonna be here much longer."

I honestly don't know if this is a troll post or not.

Edit: And to the people having to defend themselves on this topic, I am truly apologetic for this kind of ignorant rambling by the OP. However, do not pigeonhole the rest of my generation as Ke$ha loving idiots. Some of us are very intelligent and are doing what we can to make some sort of imprint on this planet. I understand your frustration, but don't defend yourself by doing exactly what the OP has done with his/her post.

Good idea.. Only problem is most kids my age watch and idolize crap like the jersey shore.. And no matter what power always seems too corupt all. Sad but true. Doesnt matter anyway the way the fed reserve is printing up money now a days its only a matter of time till we have to change to a single world wide currencey and 1 socialiast gov to control us all.

That is unless all of us young people wake up and take the fight to those corrupt F##K heads in office, put them on something like the titanic, and steer them towards Antarctica. Let them feel powerful by saying "yes mr. obama you are the president of Antarctica"

Peace

Well, being young myself, I have to disagree with you. I like to take the middle ground approach to all of this. The reason we have the old is to teach the young the experiences, or history, of old so that the young may not repeat the same mistakes they made. The reason we have the young is to refresh the old and bring in life where it may seem dead. The middle ground approach to all of this is to learn to work together. The old keep the young in line and not to stray the path while the young open the minds of the old. A balancing act among both parties. As well, age should not be a marker. You may be old, but young in mind and spirit. You may be young, but old and reserved in nature. It's easy to point the blame at others, but every generation has it's mistakes, no question.

Aside: I've been to church recently and I haven't seen any of my youth or generation in it. Either spirituality is dying among my generation with time or they have different opinions on spirituality and how it should be. Whole other subject though.

Op, nice that you joined ATS, same with other younger people, as of recent. Though, using the name PartyGirl, showing a frat girl euphanism, will not have a lot of your posts taken serious. Just stating the truth, no offense.

Though, I lost hope after May 1st, "young people" cheering in the streets-possibly the same ones lost to Facebook, cell phone texts & MTV-, those who were about 6 to 8 yrs old when 9/11 happened. Since then have they even once questioned the situation? Or have just relied on mommy to say in '01, that a "bad man told people to fly planes into buildings". Now that the "bad man/boogey man, is dead"...let's cheer!
Apparently some have found to question what is going on, that is good. Dunno, if they are ready to take over, may take more time.

I will be 34 next month, yet I have to disagree with you. Patience comes with age and experience dealing with todays issues will take lots of that. Get a bunch of young hot-heads in office and you will end up with endless debates with absolutely nothing getting resolved. Some may argue that this already the case, yet it would be MUCH worse IMO if our generation were to come in and replace our countries leadership.

I like to compare this to my early youth. I felt like I had the world figured out at 20 and no one could tell me any different. Yet now I look back on that and think....WOW!! The folks that were shaking there heads saying "you will understand one day" were right! Each generation looks at the younger as deficient in some way and I see thier point. I look at young folks these days and shake my head.... I.E. A group of kids at the mall all hanging out yet they are sitting on a bench next to eachother with thier heads burried in a cellphone texting thier little butts off.

The funny thing is, these kids are probably texting the person right next to them instead of just looking over and talking to them.

This is the problem with today's youth and why your idea will not work. They are raised in a world where social interaction on a face to face basis is practically non-existant. They are withdrawn from reality.

I would not be suprised if 60 years from now we have a WALL-E society.

It takes public speaking and networking skills to lead todays society. We are slowly loosing that.

Parents....UNPLUG your kids!!! I know it is easy to just sit them in front of a computer or TV so that you dont have to deal with them, but you are destroying our future.. Even if it is just a weekend where you leave all the electronics at home and go camping or something.... Your kids will HATE you initially, but they will end the trip with a good experience. Give it a try! Now.....go on your mission!

I think you missed a couple of OMGs in there. As well as a LMAO and two ROFLs.

Just messing with you, man. What do you propose to do with us "old people?" Put us out to pasture? Or will this be like "Logan's Run", where, when you turn 30, are you targeted for termination? When we geezers are gone, where will you get your information from and experience from? And what will you tell your children about us? There are a lot of answers to questions that need to be found before you go putting us on an ice flow.

Too late.

Have you checked out the streets after 11pm and seen who attends the protests, or fills the court rooms, or commit suicides, cause the most crime and create the most damage and do the least work and who are the largest percentage on welfare.

The young have already taken over !!!!

After reading one the Indigo Children books, about 5 yrs ago, I had come to a conclusion. These special children's abilities, can be found in more than just the children of today and just about anyone. So, for example, if you're autistic, or have ADD or are shy, or even have a high IQ, ask questions, are creative, have seen a ghost or alien, or even "think outside of the box" you can be considered an Indigo Child. Does that not make up a lot of people on ATS? The book can claim we are all Indigo children. Take the Indigo Child test?! See the holes.. It's more of a theory putting conditions, or thought patterns, IQ & EQ, together trying to market them as a "New Age of Super Children"...
So, you're 50 yrs old now, but you've seen ghosts as a child, that would make you an Indigo Child! Oh wait, you're too old!
