I'd have to agree with him in this aspect. He admits they're real, but there's no reason for us to blow such things out of proportion, this site is notorious for that. Even though it has some great material...it can get ridiculous.

I do not believe a word anybody who works for NASA says.

That whole enterprise should be closed down and turn into private enterprises.

The buzzroom is merely a public bulletin board, exactly as reliable as ATS or YouTube. Anyone can post there and it is not a heavily "moderated" forum. The clip was debunked almost as soon as it was posted.

The JPL Trajectory app is a simple java app to show a graphical representation of the approximate orbital paths of solar system objects. It is not a scientific instrument which you can take measurements off. The disclaimer on the app page makes this point clear.

When someone, considered expert in their field by many, and employed in the job of interpreting astronomical data, tells you that you have misunderstood the data, you should perhaps consider the possibility that they are telling you the truth.

You should also be aware that NASA probably don't want a repeat of the Heavens Gate mass suicide where 39 people died of having their "critical evaluation filters" turned off.

When has NASA ever been truthful and open about ANYTHING?

Why should I take David Morrison's word as gospel?

Since when did Astro-biologists begin making predictions about Comet trajectories?

He provided no evidence to support his claims! Oh but he's an Astro-biologist so he must know what he's talking about....

Heck while we're at it, why don't we ask a few meteorologists how they feel about the Patriot Act...

All this talk about impact with what ever, but just as a note to coincidence the day we enter the tail debris is the same day YU55 makes its closest approach. With all the coded messages and theorys on its passing could the to events in conjunction mean anything???

Yes the comet is real.

No, the Earth will not pass through the tail of the comet.

The "debris" that makes up the tail of a comet is largely water vapour. (Two NASA probes and a Japanese one have passed through the tail of comets, one probe was collided with the head of the comet just to see what its composition was. They have sampled the contents of the tails and have also performed spectroscopic analyses: they are largely water vapour with a little liquid CO2 and liquid carbon monoxide).

The author of the article (Dr Voytek) is well aware of the best data that we have on the composition of the coma (tail) of all comets that we have either sent probes through, or measured externally.

The effect of the Earth going through the tail of the comet would be similar to passing your hand through some steam.

Earth = very big & heavy (planet sized).

Tail of a comet = tenouous and nearly massless vapour sublimating and drifting off into space.

I wonder why this guy is devoting his time to debunking the idea that Elenin will collide into the Earth or Moon or that Elenin is Nibiru. If we're all a bunch of crazy people you wouldn't need to address it.

The media is now in overdrive to debunk Elenin. Look at this :

what is this thing of not posting links..who are you to to type what you do as athoratative?!? give US a link..i want to read what you do..i am here because ATS has a community that spends much more time on line than i do and has links and resources that i dont have ..i want to read BOTH sides of the argument..that is why i am here...i only give my OPINION has to what i read, just like we all do...if you have info..give it up..i want to educate myself.. but the naysayers dont link stuff...in the endrun this is all opinion anyway...but i still want to study both sides....my OPINION is not set in stone....

im not 'debunking' anything..im just a man with an opinion..all i want is to read both sides..i can already see by JPL'S own animation that it will not collide with earth, but the earth seems to be passing thru it's debris.....and dont most comets leave a nice metor shower behind them?!? and with all this human propheciy with 2012..it should be looked at a bit closer...remember..just 'cuase you wont be waiting for the spaceship to take you away..doesnt means hundreds or thousands wont....look at what happend with hail-bopp....just sayin'...i want knowledge..i actually read links people post

Seth Shostak is the individual who heads up the SETI program. He is a believer in life out there, but a vocal opponent against the notion of life ever making it here.
