So true! Jesus is the just king promised to man in the old testament.. He will reign HERE on Earth to rule this earth just as His Father rules in Heaven... Paradise for man is Earth just as it was when God created man ( Adam and Eve) Satan has turned it into the world it is today. But his time is almost up when God's Sabbath 1000 years will be here and this world will once again be like it was in Adam and Eve's time till Satan is released again from his chains and is allowed to cover the 4 corners of the earth with sin once again.

(Eccl 8:5-6 KJV) Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man's heart discerneth both time and judgment. [6] Because to every purpose there is time and judgment, therefore the misery of man is great upon him.

Amos 3:7 (King James Version)

Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

Yes just as He kept Job and Jesus from their hour of temptation!! They still went through it just came out victorious at the other end! They kept the faith and were able to withstand Satan. They weren't whisked off to Heaven away from it but God was with them THROUGH it! So shall it be in the end times.

Then I don't have free will, and by proxy neither do Christians. Showing this, is the whole point of my plan.

Keep in mind I think this "God" is real, it is Jesus I have the issue with
And the lying canon of scribbles known as the Bible.

Well you do have free will. God has free will as well, He created. We can not stop Gods plan. There is only one time that God was willing to spare a city Sodom and Gomorrah from total destruction in the end He did not. Read Gen 18.

Look at this way you have free will to try and kill me I have free will allow you to kill me or defend myself. You can not base if you have free will completely on the out come of the situation. You wanted to kill me well I killed you first. You had free will to try but the outcome was different than you wanted.

AHA! Thank you for the clarification of what you meant!

I thought you were saying it just "wouldn't work". To make sure I understand:

"Circumstances" would keep me from hitting my mark.
"Circumstances" would cause me to get caught first.
"Circumstances" would keep me from exersizing my free will.

As long as those circumstances are not coming from "God" then I would still have free will. But, since He created everything...

While we are in Genesis, and having Bible lessons (other posters) Who was "God" talking to when he said "Let US make man..." Could He not make man on His own?

The Bible is a work of fiction, that does not mean "God" is. And we do NOT have free will, I would even go as far to say that we have no free choice either. But that is a thread in itself!

Rest...sleep... all words used to describe death.. When you are asleep you know nothing of what is happening until you awake... You can be dead for 1000 years and when the dead in Christ rise it will be as if you went to sleep the night before and woke up the next day which will be the end time. That's why Jesus told the criminal next to Him on the cross that he would be with Him tomorrow in paradise.. It will seem like it is one day but it will actually be 1000's of years later.

free will only goes so far, though.

let's take compare life to a multiple choice test your teacher (God) just gave you. there are sixty questions. yes...you can chose A,B,C or D but you can only chose A,B,C or D. yes...life has more choices than 4 but never the less...you can only chose from the choices He has laid in front of you. so yes...we do have free will but our free will is used to chose from however many choices He has laid in front of us. ultimately...how free is that? i'm not complaining now. since i was a teenager...my biggest prayer was for God to take my free will. i don't want it. i hate it. it only keeps me from Him. so yeah God...i hate your stinking free will idea!!! it sucks!!!

To answer the OP:

I think the irony in a "Jesus returns" scenario would be that most mainstream Christians would reject him as a bleeding heart dirty hippy. I think it will be the more agnostic of society that would actually accept him has a spiritual leader. One thing that always turned me off about the church is that the people who lived with a Christ-like love in their hearts were often condemned either in a church capacity or at least in a cultural capacity.

Do you really think that Jesus would preach any of the hate that the Churches let flow out from their made-up dogma?

Here's how it's going to go down ..

1 Thessalonians 4:14-17 (New International Version 1984, ©1984)

14 We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.

17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.

& the 144,000 are the JEWS that have accepted Christ as their LORD and Savior.

Does this mean that every Christian that has died over the last 2000 years or so is still waiting to go to heaven??
I hate long waits hahaha. And why would God send Jesus back to Earth to save the Jews who refused to believe he was who he said he was and betrayed him to the Romans??? Answers on a postcard to the usual address!!

It it is what it is. You have free will to try what ever you want. If you want to try and kill God..you can sure try. If you want to kill me you can sure try. Circumstance have nothing to do with it. The outcome of the situation does not determine if free will was used. Freewill stops at your action.

One God in three God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. No I am not saying there are three Gods. I know 1+1+1=Does not equal 1.

However 1x1x1=1

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning.

3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

So to answer your question US is God.

This stupid book of fairy tales has such little evidence behind it that its believers look like mindless sheep.

Seriously, how can people not realize the book is full of symbolism, obvious manipulation, rewritten stories, gaps from omitted stories, descriptions of events that they didn't understand or know how to describe, events that never happened at all, NO proof to back it, and even if the shroud proved that a man named Jesus existed that doesn't prove he existed as the Jesus described in the bible. So you still haven't gotten anywhere...

There is more evidence to suggest aliens are here than there is that Jesus existed as the one described in the bible. A LOT more. If the stories in the bible are descriptions of real events then the most logical explanation is that Jesus was an alien and many of the magical events were performed by advanced technology, which of course couldn't be described any other way by the primitive minds of that time period than by the use of magic. Magic does not exist and there isn't a single shred of evidence in our history to suggest that it does exist. So many people are easily duped and controlled by this BOOK. A BOOK that proves NOTHING. I've never seen a bigger showcase of weakness in my life.

The world isn't ending on the 21st and Christ is NOT coming back. How utterly childish..

Everyday is a battle. We will not get that rest until the time has come and that time has been set aside by God alone not man. There will be watchmen that proclaim the truth of God to give warnings to the people that Christ return is at hand..but just warnings not actual days.

They don't HAVE to mean anything...

and if Jesus does return, I'm f!@#ed. The Christian god is one of the meanest I've read about. Doesn't matter how good you are, all it takes is a difference of opinion to get sent to hell... NO THANKS!

Not sure if anyone mentioned it yet but it's only a small minority of Christians who believe in Rapture, the majority think it's a load of BS (in fact one of my Christian friends ranted about how full of crap the Rapture event is, expletives included).

Rapture was also NEVER mentioned in the Bible. It was only put forward by a guy wanting to sell books by putting fear into his fellow man for profit.

The bigger question for the OP is...How would we know Jesus when we saw him?

Our current image of Jesus is really more that of King James.

Jesus was Jewish, and probably isn't going to look like his oft-depicted picture.

Then, there is proof. How would he prove to the people who he is? Those stunts of 2000 years ago pale in comparison to some of the illusions modern magicians pull off...so we're kind of desensitized to it.

Walking on Water? - we'd assume a plexiglass path
Raising the Dead? - we'd assume the person was playing dead
Water to Wine? - simple chemical reaction and slight of hand

and so on....

Even if he did show himself, and exhibited some grand demonstration, he'd likely be shot and then his blood drank to see if it has supernatural powers, etc.

Just not seeing it happen...

The Bible certainly does talk about the 144,000 who are sealed by God, and taken, so while the term "rapture" isn't used, it's there in spirit.

Of course, the terms are strict. Virgin males descended from the 12 tribes of Israel, by scripture. So yes, I'm completely confused as to the Jehovah's Witnesses....how do you figure you have a ticket?

Energy cannot be created nor destroyed.

Where did the Christ go?

Also, I don't associate the Christ with a figure, but of a mindset - that of peace, love and acceptance. Therefore, the Christ can be possible in anybody. Essentially, a new Christ is born every day.
