SUHT = Summer UFO Hunting Team.

It was coined by one of the members who posted on this thread.

I have an idea on how someone might be able to catch a UFO on camera, it could work fairly reliably. With all the recognition software out there now if anyone has access and resources to get a few things.

If you have a good bit of open sky to look at, maybe someone could set up a sentry camera system with night vision, infrared and of course a standard camera mounted on a mechanical swivel. Set it to pan across the sky every now and then and watch and track for any moving objects automatically, then review the footage when you have time. You could make the system give off data about when it is "actively tracking" an object so you would not have to review the entire film, I'm sure plenty of aircraft would be caught and might provide a good way of testing the system.

The entire video sessions could even be uploaded so anyone can review it and point out any possible anomalies that weren't caught otherwise, like SETI @ home. I would love to do this myself, but I don't have the money to spend on a system like that and I don't have much sky to look at, unfortunately.

Kind of far fetched for me anyways because of the different areas of expertise involved. If you really want to get serious you could even include a telescoping camera or something to zoom in on anything moving in the sky, if possible.

Yeah, need the tech to do something like that. It's a good idea. I certainly don't have the equipment for such an endeavor however.

I know someone who just won a million dollars from McDonalds (imagine that), this person is spending a lot of money on various projects. I don't know if he is interested in the UFO phenomenon though and I wouldn't ask just because I'm sure everyone and their mother is nagging him for a handout.

Equipment and software for this would be a pretty penny, and after paying for programmers/av experts even if you set it all up yourself it would still cost the better part of 10 grand I am guessing. Maybe more?

You might be able scavenge for cheap equipment some where and see how far that gets you, maybe save several thousand from using stuff that is not brand new. Just tossing out ideas, I can't afford this kind of investigation.

So far nothing odd in the sky. Just the ordinary birds, airplanes, heard what I suppose was a helicopter. And some of the usual military planes..some practice of somekind, I see them pretty often. Anyway the weathers been bad for a few days, supposed to be better this weekend.
I'm outside most of the time since I work in the forest so I'll keep mind and both eyes open as always

I agree with your post and I also think that if this forum was dedicated more toward first hand information it would be alot more interestiing. Obviously this takes the time, inclination and location of willing people but i am sure there are many board members near hotspots.

What about lake eerie (sp), pine gap and certain utah ranches? Fresno CA: there was a dramatic video investigation on youtube where thermal images were captured and camera batteries ran dry for no apparent reason. Anyone nearby?

It would be great for ATS to evolve to a point that we can represent properly documented cases. Potentially groundbreaking even.

Do you have a link to the stuff that happened in Fresno? I live about half an hour south, and hadn't heard about it... but I've been incredibly busy with work the last few weeks. I'm always interested in hearing about stuff that's going on in my area, and am more than willing to pay closer attention to the skies. I only wish now that I hadn't given my ex-girlfriend my camera with a video function, I suppose the iPhone will have to suffice.

Haven't seen a thing all week thanks to the really crap weather we're having. Heard the rumbles of planes passing n a few plane lights at night and thats it.

Nothing new here, only thing that happened was a loud rumble and nothing more, I guess thunder but all I heard/seen was one loud bang. and about 5 minutes after I saw a helicopter (it was red/white so I guess no military helicopter
)
Been bad weather lateley, if "The Aliens" were to come last couple of days I hope they got some kickass driving skills cuz it's been really windy.

Likewise here this week. Its been near hurricane force winds for two days this week followed by more wind and rain.

I honestly dont think the aliens will be heading to this part of the world. I think they would much prefer warmer climes lol.

better to take up a collection and get one of these.

On eBay now: Contraves EOTS Cinetheodolite Telescope Missile (or UFO) Tracker

I'll kick in $100. We have ten days for this eBay auction to end. (though this seller has been trying for months with no takers and will likely relist. let's make him an offer he can't refuse!

Count me in the hunt.
Got a couple of spots I want to record in the early hours this summer.

Also, supposedly a new crop circle was discovered in Sacramento somewhere just recently. Does anyone know exactly where it is and/or who owns the property? Might be a little late for soil samples and such because of all this weather we've been having lately, but it's worth a try. Could always take EM readings/measurements.

Ive been checking the local news around here, and there doesn't appear to have been any unusual sightings in this area for a while.

Good news it, the long range weather predicts a return to high pressure and 20+ degrees by thursday after a month of wind and rain. Just in time for me and my bro to do the west highland way. A week long walk through the scottish highlands. rough camping and ale! Whoop! I plan to use this as an opportunity to really scrutinize the sky at the same time.

Wow nice, I'll kick in $100 too. Now we need to get someone to donate $75 grand, or 750 people donate $100.
