Sounds like a fun summer project S&F

I posted pics of what i captured back last summer everyone hates videos it seems.. so i take pics and no one belives me ..but id like in on this dureing the summer im out at night alot im in a hot spot were i live..Im out in the woods far from any towns or street lights..

While the idea is great and everyone should ALWAYS keep their eyes to the skies and keep a camera on them...and share what they find....

It has the top ten places in the world and then another list of the top ten places in the United States.

I want to join in on the hunt but I have no idea what a "real" UFO looks like. Anyone have a picture of a "real" UFO so I can keep my eyes out for one?

As for my Friday report. I can tell everyone I have observed in the sky this week:

10+ Airplanes
3 Satellites
2 meteorites
0 UFO's.

The weather has turned a bit wet this weekend, but hopefully, if the skies clear at night, I can get some photos of the sky at night while I'm out observing and see how good the SLR camera I've got is.

"4 out of 5 UFO's recommend SUHT."

I felt this is the right place to post since Im new and cannot make my own thread yet.
I am asking for help (kind of) because I feel if I provide a description of what I saw maybe someone can tell me what it is. Im not too sure it if was alien.

It happened when I was a little kid back in probably 97' give a take a few years.
I live in the Los Angeles area right by the LAX airport but I'm pretty sure what I saw was not an airplane.
I was walking out of my cousins house with my mom and maybe my brother and it was nighttime. We looked up at the sky because something weird appeared. It was moving in the motion of a giant bird, but slower. However it was really noticeable because it was completely lit by several lights. It was shaped like a giant M with the two outer lines of the M moving up and down (that's why I said it looked like a bird)

Obviously this was before cell phones were popularized so I have no video or photographic evidence. For a long time I thought what I saw was just something in my imagination. A few months ago I suddenly asked my mom if she remembered this happening. Her reply was "yeah.. I think something like that did happen." So since it wasn't just in my imagination I came here wondering if anyone know what that thing I saw could be? Perhaps someone else has witnessed something similar?

I would also like to add that you should also try to recruit...I mean...get some family or friends to tag along with you. These people should be what the majority of society would deem credible. Your uncle who just finished off a bottle of vodka probably isn't the best choice for an observing partner. The reasons should be obvious.

However, I have recently realized that it doesn't really matter how much evidence or facts you present skeptics. For the most part, they won't be swayed. Credible people have already come out. The governments have already released documents. None of that really matters to them. Just like you, they have an agenda for coming here. Before you ever posted their minds were made up as they eagerly awaited the next UFO thread. Keep this in mind should you come across something. Do this for yourself, don't worry about them.

Excellent idea I must say! I just said to my girlfriend that we should do some UFO hunting this summer (just before reading this thread). She was not very positive about my idea so it's great to see someone is
Anyway, Im in! This is really interesting and i'll try too keep an extra sharp out eye this summer

Cool idea I'll keep my eyes to the skies. Well that's no different than any other night I just need to get back in the habit of keeping my camera with me.

I guess I've been paying attention to what's going on above me for about five years now give or take and in that time I've probably seen close to a dozen a things I couldn't immediately identify. A little research and most of those wound up being satellites and even the ISS on one occasion. All said and done there's still three I can't identify which is interesting, to me at least but there's a problem. I would have literally needed to have my camera in my hands and turned on to have any hope of captured them on film. The time it takes to slide my camera open and locate the object in the view finder would have been enough for me to miss them.

I imagine there's quite a bit of that going around and in the days of "pics or it didn't happen" that presents a problem. I don't know what the solution is but I will keep my camera with me more often and hope for the best, I hope others do the same.

Glad to see a good amount of interest in this idea.

After a promising start last week with the good weather, it's been cloudy and showers all week and it looks set to continue. So haven't done any stargazing recently but have kept my eyes on the sky.

Have seen:

2 Airplanes
1 Helicopter

In all this week. Nothing unidentified although, we did have an awesome lightning storm last Saturday which lit up the whole area for a good 2 hours. Don't have the gear to take photos of lightning which is a shame.

Oh, well, will keep watching, hoping the sunny warm weather returns soon.

Another resource is current newspaper reports from citizens around the world.

Several organizations publish a monthly report containing a collection of current news clippings, giving you a good starting place. Comparing issues month to month then also provides an indication if an area is continuing to have activity (and perhaps likely to have more.)
In the past I have noted area's that have continuing activity for weeks or even months.

will do as i have had many sightings of strange objects at night but i am always to exited and dont want to miss a thing that i dont go indoors for my camera.
also on the 28th april 2011 12.15pm to 12.50pm on the A55 chester to rhyl ,my whole family thats her indoors and 3 kids 10y boy and twins of 7ys boy and girl all saw this tube shaped object white in colour with windows followed by two kinds of jets . then while on the beach my 10 year old boy spotted it above us so i looked for the two jets which i saw and when i looked back to see the object above it was no longer there 2pm onthe way home my partner and kids could see it again but i could not
i have a friend who knows phil hoyle and david boyle as to try to investigate this to see if anybody else had seen this and hopefully get some sort of radar evidence

i would like to add while on the A55 no matter how fast or slow we went it stayed in a fixed position also to make others see this i had my arm outside the window pointing at the (UFO)

Tis a shame there are no photos or shaky video footage. Even to just get an idea of what it looked like. You will be surprised by just how easily people miss stuff because they are engrossed in their own wee world.
