Your assumption assumes that there is some sort of deteriorating factor in the environment. You seem to be taking the official stance on this so we can say that there is no atmosphere on Mars, so little wind and no rain. Other than the occasional meteorite what would deteriorate this?

Detail matters not. I doubt that a mile wide "statue" would have a target audience other than people in the sky.

Its certainly one of the more convincing "Mars" faces but I do have some qurms. Like why would they (Whoever supposedly built it) Build it side on, wouldn't it make more sense to build it either facing the sky or standing vertical. Perhaps it was standing but it fell over with years of decay.

Guess will never know.

Detail matters because the original image doesn't have the detail to show what that feature is.

If you see only a dot (or little more than that) you cannot say what it is.

The image certainly bears a striking resemblance to a human profile. It could be constructed by intelligent beings or it could be natural. We have plenty of natural formations on earth that have been named according to their resemblance to known objects, creatures etc.

Seeing faces in natural formations is not uncommon.

After looking at the pics in the original post I thought that it looked too good to be true because as has been said in this thread, surely it would have started to deteriorate by now and not look as detailed. With the picture you have posted this could indeed be the case because to me it looks like a face that has now eroded.

You clearly need to read up on Mars. It has a atmosphere, it has wind, it has snow and it even has the biggest sandstorms known in our solar system.
Some recent studies show that it might have even had LIQUID water on the surface in more recent times, and that it might be dry now due to it being in a ice age which is theorised to be controlled by orbital changes that happen in cycles.

Even if the last theory is wrong you still have sand storms, landslides and so on which WILL change the surface of the planet.

Now it looks like a chimpanzee, LOL! Anyone else see it? It's facing right and is in profile, you can see a mouth, eyes, ears.

This reminds me of when I was a kid and used to see faces in the wood paneling in my grandmother's house, we can see "something" in just about anything if wer look hard enough. That doesn't mean someone actually put it there though.

Next time I'll actually read the thread before posting...
