I checked that out and it really is strange. 8 hours is missing and next picture shows much brighter sun than last one.
Btw, LASCO 2 has same timeframe missing.

Proton flux graph is showing yellow instead of green right now. Does anyone know what that means?

This was reported yesterday as well here M CLASS FLARE!?!?!,2011-04-22,SOH...

If it was a M Class Flare, wouldn't the intensity of the light have begun to diminish by now? If it is not some sort of glitch I find it extremely bizarre. However I'm sure there is a logical answer.

Bump. Because I'm curious to know the answer.

Agreed

They do seem to be mirror images of each other.

I like Sun Doom like the next guy but this pic is rather vanilla.

The Earth-size UFO's going in and out of the sun...Now that's the good stuff right there!

The reason it appears that only half the sun is increasing in brightness is because of the lens shield. The lower half looks darker because its shadowed by the light, likely because of the tilt of the satellite/camera. But none of that gives reason to why the top half is showing an increase in brightness. Maybe a couple of CMEs being thrown out? I guess its a watch and see game as per usual.

The spots on day 23 look like someone took the spots from day 222 and turned them around a bit and pasted them on . They are deffinatly the same spots just in a different location and dirrection, could this be from the suns spin?

check the stereo-ssc nasa site, there are also a couple of hours (20110422 between 11:54 and 18:09) missing from the corona view of the 'ahead' satellite but the 'behind' has the missing hours recorded... i've checked only the COR2 (outer coronagraph)

lol. I don't think the largest body of matter in our solar system, which is also on fire, was out of view of the satellites that are there specifically to watch it.

Aperatus arm? Ok, I am very limited on knowledge about Soho, but isn't there an arm that holds the shield (Blocking the sun) in place? Could this be it?

I think I solved this..

its just video being flipped upside down... I compared the location of the other sun beams and shadows.. I noticed it was just flipped around..

I do think its a "arm" that hold that solar lens in the middel in place
