Seriously, that is all well and good ok? But it STOPS garnering respect when REAL people make REAL life choices based upon people who make predictions and then lose so much.

Some who have been around the block in this venue, we KNOW we have to level the playing field so that they are taken precisely in the vein that they should be.

Whether or not someone is stupid for taking these things too seriously is immaterial, the fact remains that there are weak-minded individuals who WILL, and when they do, real people do get hurt without a devestating cataclysm occurring.

That's when respect needs to end.

In my previous thread I promised to give away $500 dollars if my prediction fails. I will follow through. I doubt any one in the history of ATS has shown willingness to pay a price in real money for their wrong predictions. The money will only apply to my previous thread though, because this thread has attracted too much attention to be meaningful to the person receiving the money if I have to divide it amongst 50 people.

I saw your first post where you wanted to give away cash as an apology also.

I want you to take your $500 and spend it on something for yourself, buy yourself a used seismograph on ebay. How about a solar panel should any of these predictions come true? Invest that $500 in materials, supplies and most importantly knowledge just in case the big one DOES hit.

Donate $500 to the Japan EQ relief fund, or another organization of your choosing.

None of us here deserve even a penny of your money. We all CHOSE to visit this website, peruse the threads and reply to yours. There is absolutely no reason you should feel obligated to repay people for their troubles.

The thing is, here in San Diego last Easter we had a 7.2 earthquake and I just thought the surround sound was turned too high. Barely felt a thing. I'm really not afraid of drywall and pink insulation falling on my head, just don't want any wine glasses broken.

Don't give US money, no one wants it.

Instead if you feel compelled, give it to people who REALLY need it, a homeless or hungry person in your town. Japan.

We dont need it, trust us there, nor want it for your prediction. This is entertainment at its core, and is what it always should be.

I have yet to see any of these mindless people running around that you seem so deeply concerned about. I see no one running for the hills over his prediction. What I do see is a barrage of people berating this person for his beliefs. If he is wrong so bet it. No need for the lack of respect.

I'm gonna call it like I see it. This is not about your concern for anyone. This is about you wanting to look good in front of other ATSers by showing them how stupid you think someone else is.

Speak for yourselves. If some nutter wants to give me $500 then I say bring on the cash. However, like his failed prophecy, I imagine the money will also be a non-event.

I may be wrong, but by the letter ,this topic goes to skunkworks. Self publishing on GLP and sending emails that wind up in print is kind of fluffing it up.

I agree with what you're saying but....(this is a big but) Why title the thread in such a scary way? why not title and start the thread with something less finite, explain how you came about these predictions and ask what people think, Instead of trying to create fear or boost an ego.

Look pal, the long and short of it is, that it HAS happened many times before, and I absolutely do not want to see it happen to anyone for ANY prediction, not just this one. Learn to read AND write in context of information presented to you, not in only the way you want to interpret it.

That's about as far as I am willing to engage you on this subject, as you simply want to bait for the sake of doing so. I know my own intention.

I'm glad you find it humorous. But its not just you I think that of. I think that every time I read a post from someone who says "just more fear mongering blah blah blah". "this is serious this fear mongering will hurt people blah blah blah". I have yet to see in any of these forums anyone who has hurt themselves over some prediction on an ATS forum. People have followed cult-ish type people to their deaths but I doubt any ATSer in a thread could pull that off.

We're all waiting for the other shoe to fall in California or along the Cascadian fault, so predictions like this are not particularly earth shattering However, the predictive model you're using is certainly fascinating!
