I know there is a thread similar to this but why are so many of you frantically panicking and making survival preparations? Is there really an eminent attack? Is their seriously a reason? How can something that has not been proven come and attack us? Just wondering because I am not preparing for anything.

Mods if this is too similar to the other thread then you can remove it.

some are frantic, some are just putting a few things aside to be on the safe side.

any of said things can be used if TS doesn't HTF

better to have a little extra just in case

plus, the outlook ain't lookin too great right now either

you should start a thread on how to survive in a fema concentration camp. because that's more likely will everybody will end up.

How to survive in a FEMA camp! I hate FEMA and if I am ever in a FEMA camp I will go so crazy that will release me due to how crazy I will become. Maybe I should make a thread about that and I can put you in charge of gathering supplies to escape! Haha seriously if you even tried to escape or made the slightest violent or threatening move in a FEMA camp you'd be dead. Besides I'm pretty sure we'd have another holocaust if we were put into FEMA camps.

What I would do

1) turn into a cannibal
2) eat the FEMA employees
3) tear down the camp
4) let everyone escape

If you aren't preparing, don't expect me to waste resources helping you out should I be proven right and you wrong.

There doesn't have to be an "imminent threat", that's not the point. If the threat is imminent, you've already sat around playing with yourself too long. Here's an analogy: I live in tornado country. We may have had clear weather today, but that doesn't mean a twister couldn't come along this summer and wipe my house out. And if it does, my basic "roughing it" gear tucked away in the cellar will make all the difference in my comfort level. Just like a gun, condom, or fire extinguisher, I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.'

Also, I don't want to be reliant upon our crooked, inept government in the face of some major catastrophe. It's that simple. Look at Katrina, and all the refugees. How many people would have been better off with just a little bit of supplies and knowledge stowed away for that "rainy day?"

You do realize that this is a conspiracy site don't you? People are probably getting a bit more freaked out, though I haven't seen it, because of 2012 coming up. The survivalists I see here have been preparing for awhile so that hasn't changed nor have the ones that don't prepare really changed either.

At least not that I can tell.

People are panicking because there are many reasons your life could change... don't wanna doom and gloom but its reality. I'm not talking about earth changes, those are out of our control. Greed leads to debt... killing leads to revenge and unfairness leads to revolution. These are the reasons people are "freakin". All the cards are there. We have countries in debt, we have countries killing each other for revenge and we have revolutions in the middle east.

We gotta shake this off us...or the earth will do it for us.

peace =)

I don't think most are franticly preparing, the few that are are paranoid and over reacting in my opinion. The world seems to be falling apart but I think it has always been we just have more access to information now so it seems worse.

That said does having an insurance policy mean you're expecting to get into an accident?

S Happens and it is possible it could one day hit the fan. Why not be prepared for that extra daily piece of mind.?Just like having any kind of insurance.

Who's panicking and frantic?

There's a big difference between that and preparing. The very reason TO panic and be frantic means you lacked preparation for whatever you're facing at that time.

And, who says the preparations are ofr an attack of some kind? Is it not prudent to have things on hand for ANY type of situation that could come along?

What if you lived in an area that has tornado risks? The huge outbreak of tornados this weekend proved that they can come any time, and destroy whatever you hold dear. There's many people that have lost lives, homes AND businesses due to just that one outbreak of calamity.

None of those businesses destroyed will be paying their employees until they either rebuild, or they find new employment. That means you're broke til you get something new.

Is it not a prudent idea to have some extra food stores on hand just in case of that type of thing happening?

I mean... Seriously. The scoffers on this site just amaze me with their lack of personal responsibility and prudence.

better to have something and not need it, then need something and not have it!

also i've seen one too many videos of entire areas being washed away, or bombed, or riots overtaking them, or race wars with riots. the fact I live so close to the United States doesn't help either. the next country to collapse or go bezerk or turn into the most ruthless police state of all time. I refuse to get caught in any of it and should you all go crazy i'll have a nice few weeks while you're scrounging for food cause you thought it would never happen.

all it takes is a cut in the supply and so many people wouldn't know what to do or where to start. thats how riots and looting starts. this scenario isn't impossible and has happened more times you can think of. so be ready, even if for nothing.

As I also live in tornado alley and I am a safety freak when it comes to violent storms. But what I am trying to say is that survival comes naturally to the human being as it has also been proven. I have some water and a but of gasoline lol mainly because I own a mowing business so I always have gasoline. Those are the only supplies I have stockpiled. But what in the hell are people preparing for? An attack? 2012? A volcano? I mean seriously what are people preparing for? Lol because I have no idea what to prepare for except tornadoes for the next few months

First not everyone is panicking.
Second some people are worried about some disaster between now and 2012.
Third some people are worried about geologic and social instability.
Fourth even some MSM financial forecasters are saying to expect huge price rises especially with food.
Fifth even MSM recognises increasing sun activity could take out electricity.

Fourth reason is good enough for me. Whatever - have you taken any notice at all of what is going on in the world? But hey what do I care if some people want to stick their heads in the sand. Just don't come to me expecting me to feed you. What is it those religious folks say?
The Lord helps those who help themselves.
Simples.

I have been making preperations for sometime now... You question to us is why... I can only speek for myself in this matter. My answer is simple at least for me. For sometime now in my life and by what I read here on ATS, I think a lot of us are on the same page. That we could all agree that even though we do not know the specifics, Something is going to happen. As I see it like a Giant Clock that I'm connected to, Not knowing where exactly it stops (The Event), only understanding the tension it produces as we come closer to the snapping point. As the very fibers of my being sway with the balance or unbalance's in the tension of the countdown to whatever is in store for us, the whole lot... EARTH. A change has been comming for a long time now and so many parts are connected as I see it. You know when your putting together a puzzel... Imagine for a moment that you do not have the original box it came in, thus you cannot see the completed picture. But start connecting the peices and you will start to see a picture. Although it will be much eaiser to see once what ever happens, happens. Even then most will still be blind to the reallity that surrounds them in the moment, and some will not even be able to handel the real as it happens... you get my drift? Even today I woke up saying to myself the clock is even tighter now more than ever, and one day it will snap. But do not Fear as this will be the ultimate test of one's foundation. I know that when the moment arises, I shall embrace it with all my being! Bags Packed

It's not what you know is coming that you want to prepare for. That's the easy part for anyone that has eyes open and ears to the ground.

The things you DON'T think of are what you should prepare for.

Some people also rather let others do all the preperations then if something horrible happens they will just go and take from others. If this option sounds good to you just plan to have a group ready to go.

Start checking out places survivalists have talked about going to live off the land or what not.

You may want to bring some firearms but not necessary if you catch them quick, like when they are loading up their supply's in their car getting ready to bug out.

You may have to hit more than one group depending on how big your group is and they may be armed so plan to lose a couple of your members to automatic rifle fire. They won't get you all though.

Find out where they were heading, do they have a cabin in the mountains they were heading to or a hidden bunker somewhere that you can now call home, you must interrogate quickly because odds are things are getting pretty bad.

If they have an off road vehicle your probably better off taking theirs that way you won't need to unpack it and load yours up so make sure anything you brought with you is easily transferable to other vehicles.

Once again, speed is your ally here.

So if you so choose, just let them do all the planning and spend their hard earned money now but be ready to strike when the moment arrives to ensure your own safety.

Your puzzle metaphor didn't hit the head like it should have. It is a puzzle and not knowing the picture on the box is hard. Once you start putting the piece together, the picture becomes easier to see and you know what to look for. Then you can put the pieces together in a logical fashion (if logic is your "thing").

Cheers =)

Pray for peace but prepare for war, don't know who said it, but I don't really think you can prepare for a global meltdown on the scale of the one that's brewing up. The "war" that's coming is going to be about fighting for access to resources, fuel, food, territory. There is only so much regular folks can take, and right now the PWB are pushing all of us WAY past our limits. But preparation is good. or not. Just depends on were ground zero is in relation to you.
