Warning: There is some 'coluful launguge' being used by these artists...but, those with ears to hear, might as well listen...

So, are there Rap/Hip Hop artists trying to 'Enlighten' us?

Yes, I believe some are...

Or at least, just as much as the Mason/Illuminati minions are trying to halt our growth...

The Jay-z's, Rhianna's, Britney's, Lady Gaga's and Madonna's etc ..of the music industry want you to focus your thoughts on that of the material and flesh. Money, 'bitches', bling, good looks, sex and other tasteless foods for the soul, all the while keeping your eyes off 'truths', in most of the lyrics and videos, there are sinister undertones, and huge amounts of symbolism. I can also see the sexualization of our kids at a young age...

For example, from Rhianna's - Rude boy

Opening lyrics...

Come on rude boy, boy

Can you get it up

Come here rude boy, boy

Is you big enough

This makes me feel really queasy when I know that young impressionable girls listen to and idolize these entertainers that are pushed on us by the corrupt and heavily infiltrated music industry...

But, in this thread...I'd like to introduce you to some artists that I feel are doing a great job of making us aware of the deceit and corruption that surrounds us, hinting at easily percievable and inevitable world changing events, while spreading much needed messages of truth, hope, love and peace...

First up...

B.O.B -Watchers These are the opening lyrics..

Yes, I feel the end, the end is close, the same thing happened eons ago.To know exactly you have to read up some more, everyday technology speeds up some more

My interpretation...

Here, B.O.B is referring to the great change, transformation and purification that is starting to take place on earth right NOW. This has been foretold and prophesied by many of our Brothers and Sister's of past and present indigenous tribes and civilizations of our world.

This also 'happened eons ago' and much can be found in ancient and religious texts, there are many stories of earth changes and floods that haunt our past... 'Flood of Atlantis', 'Sumerian Flood', 'Biblical Floods' etc....

And NOW, the prophecies and messages of great change look like they will come to fruition with the very real and 'not to be ignored' incoming/passing of 'comet' ELEnin...

As is above,so is below,

Some feel the heat, Yeah, some feel the cold,

We are the souls, Yes, We have been chose,

Some roll with angels and demons,

Buth Shhhh! Hold up Bob, Don't go there,

You know they watching, with their all-seeing stare

My thoughts prompted by the lyrics...

'We have been chosen' or we have chosen to be here at this time and there is a reason as to why we entered life within this exciting season of... NOW. Not only have we chosen to be here, but we have choices while we are here...but really, there's only one choice........Love

We are souls, Yes we ARE...some DO roll with Angels/Arcturians...but, 'Don't go there'! The adversaries watch me with their lizard like stare...but I move along cause I just don't care...

Also seems like he has been made aware of some of his Extra-terrestrial heritage too...from Pluto...

The song in its entirety...2.30 mins...

Lupe Fiasco has a newly released album named...Losers/L.A.S.E.R.S, which is a acronym for...

LOVE Always Shines Every-time Remember 2 Smile

This is Lupe's L.A.S.E.R.S manifesto taken from his blog...

THE L.A.S.E.R.S. MANIFESTO

To Every Man, Woman & Child...

1. We Want An End To The Glamorization Of Negativity In The Media.
2. We Want An End To Status Symbols Dictating Our Worth As Individuals.
3. We Want A Meaningful And Universal Education System.
4. We Want Substance In The Place Of Popularity.
5. We Will Not Compromise Who We Are To Be Accepted By The Crowd.
6. We Want The Invisible Walls That Separate By Wealth, Race & Class To Be Torn Down.
7. We Want To Think Our Own Thoughts.
8. We Will Be Responsible For Our Environment.
9. We Want Clarity & Truth From Our Elected Officials Or They Should Move Aside.
10. We Want Love Not Lies.
11. We Want An End To All Wars. Foreign & Domestic (Violence).
12. We Want An End To The Processed Culture Of Exploitation, Over-Consumption & Waste.
13. We Want Knowledge, Understanding & Peace.
14. WE WILL NOT LOSE BECAUSE WE ARE NOT LOSERS, WE ARE LASERS!!!

Lasers are the opposite of losers. Lasers are shining beams of light that burn through the darkness of ignorance. Lasers shed light on injustice and inequality. Losers stand by and let things happen. Lasers act and shape their own destinies. Lasers find meaning and direction in the mysteries all around them. Lasers stand for love and compassion. Lasers stand for peace. Lasers stand for progression. Lasers are revolutionary.

Lasers Are The Future.

We're Not Losers...We Are L.A.S.E.R.S.!!!

Opening lyrics to Lupe Fiasco's - Words I never said Ft. Skylar Grey

I really think the war on terror is a bunch of bull#

Just a poor excuse for you to use up all your bullets

How much money does it take to really make a full clip

9/11 building 7 did they really pull it

Uhh, And a bunch of other cover ups

I think that all the silence is worse than all the violence

Fear is such a weak emotion thats why I despise it

We scared of almost everything, afraid to even tell the truth

So scared of what you think of me, I’m scared of even telling you

'Words I Never Said' with lyrics on screen...Please watch...

So fellow ATS' ers, do you think these Rap/Hip Hop artists are trying to 'Enlighten' us or at least do you feel they are trying to bring pertinent information to our attention?

What 'truths' or messages can you find and/or relate to in the music/lyrics?

Really? Did you just try and make a connection to hip hop and enlightenment?

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt in that there are VERY FEW actual hip hop artists who use music as a message, whether that be conspiracy in nature or political agenda, but they are all opinions of the artist.

That being said, the overwhelming majority of hip hop artists are just out for the money, the 15 minutes of fame and the bling. If they could put 50" rims on their cars and lift them 8' in the air all while blasting music and wearing diamonds in their teeth, they would, and some of them have.

I'm sorry, but the only message hip hop is giving out is how to stereotype a race, support the gangsta lifestyle of illegal drugs, prostitution and gunplay as well as trying to look cool while doing it. And people fall for it.

Hip hop started as a way for urban males to spread a message, now it's just degraded to b**ches and h*es, my money and my car. What is there to enlighten? The people you post are not mainline artists, they are drops in the bucket of the hundreds of hip hop artists that are actually hurting society and furthering stereotypes and conveying the WRONG message.

Not to mention they blatantly promote the brutalization of the english language.

No, they are not enlightened. A few might want to be, but all in all....NO.

[Edit to add: DISLCAIMER--This post was made by me in response to a general thread title and opening where the OP was referring to ALL hip hop artists and not just these. The thread title was changed after I posted this response as well as the member who posted below me. The title was changed so that a more specific question could be asked than the general one I responded to.]

I didn't put it quite that sarcastically, but yes. It's all about the money and the fame and rubbing it in the faces of anyone who didn't make it.

Here you go, classic examples of how to truly enlighten the hip hop audience:

This is BS.

There are guys out there who will not SELL OUT. EVERY main stream rapper sold out. The guys that do not sell out and have talent remain underground. Example? Immortal Technique. Apak Masters. Apakalypse. BG Knocc Out.

there is basically zero thought provoking music main stream radio plays. It is all mindless crap like Justin Bieber and Lady Gaga; American Idol, Usher, Jay Z... all sell out tools.

Wow, you just summed up everything you assume about hip-hop and regurgitated it without even acknowledging what the OP presented. The examples given are of a select few who have their eyes open and don't make those stereotypes. In fact Lupe Fiasco is one who explicitly raps against that "gangsta" lifestyle.

Generalizations don't help unless you truly don't want to see a bigger picture.

If by "enlighten us" you mean "dumb us down" I agree. "Kill a n*****, f**** a ho, smoke a blunt" etc. aren't really enlightening lyrics in my opinion.

OP needs to edit the title to "These Hiphop artists are trying to enlighten us", because most of them sure as hell don't. Pop and the aforementioned genre are the biggest polluters of youths' minds via the music industry

I honestly think the only rap artists trying to wake us up are underground, Without any major record deals. Forget about people like Lupe fiasco.....they're all sell outs.

I take it no ones watched the videos, well End of days starts with a david icke speech talking about how the TV brainwashes people and mainly talks about conspiracy theories and government lies. The second song Trail of Lies talks about doing things to fit in with society and how all these large corporations and the music industry take control of your life.

Hip hop music today is complete garbage.. it actually been that way for a long time.

It peaked in the late 90s and everything since has been worthless. All these remakes and remixes, forget it. There is no talent out there anymore, its just different people saying the same thing. Money, cash, hoes, bling, chronic, yeah, feel me.... music used to have a message now its junk marketed to brainless followers.

Congratulations, you can cut and paste only what you want to hear so it makes me sound like an idiot out of context.

Here you go, let me paste the first half of my statement that you conveniently deleted so I can help you understand....

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt in that there are VERY FEW actual hip hop artists who use music as a message, whether that be conspiracy in nature or political agenda, but they are all opinions of the artist.

I'm pretty sure I just stated that there are people out there who do use their music as a message, but that they are on their own, they are not at the forefront of the hip hop industry and they are not mainstream. They don't sell millions of records because what the majority of the hip hop audience wants to hear is exactly what their getting...

HERE is a whole list of lyrics by one of the hottest selling hip hop artists on the market today. I'm sure you'll find some real important stuff in there; really thought provoking.

And here is the last part of my post which you conveniently deleted:

.....Hip hop started as a way for urban males to spread a message, now it's just degraded to b**ches and h*es, my money and my car.

Hip hop used to be great because I grew up with it too. I listened to Run DMC, Biz Markee, LL Cool J and a host of others. They actually had something to say and people listened. Now if you throw b*tches and m*tha f*cka in the song about fifty times and dump crystal all over a black girls' extremedies while making them degrade themselves, you have a #1 grammy hit.

I'm not as dumb as you think I am, and I hate it when people take my posts out of context to serve their own arguments. Try again.

I've heard of almost all of them and I enjoy what they have to say. I completely agree that they stick to what they believe in and try to get the message out, unfortunately they are just as I stated, a minority stating their personal opinions, no mainstream record label will give them the time of day unfortunately, despite their talent.

Umm did you even listen to the songs the OP posted? because there clearly are many hip-hop artists that are trying to enlighten their audiences. I doubt you're even a fan of hip hop, but I have grown up in it and there are two kinds: Gangsta rap (girls, money, drugs) and conscious rap (everything else) Heres a personal example just for you, please listen to it before you comment thanks

Sometimes livin' in a word like this, It's pretty hard not to go insane, Not pretty if you don’t comply, Pretty easy if you don’t complain, Stand there like you don’t feel pain, No tears in the face of defeat, Pretend to the end that you don’t feel change, Don’t admit it that your faith is weak , Don’t say that you feel like dying, Life’s hard that it feels like diamonds, your home is far too gone, Much too late to even feel like trying, Can't understand what I’m saying, Can't figure out what I’m implying, If you feel you don’t want to be alive, You feel just how I am...

In just one stanza Lupe describes the world we live in, how we must comply to governments and TPTB.

He goes on to talk about Obama being a puppet (Pretend that you don't feel change) because many people thought he would be different and clearly is not.

He touches on peoples weak faith in "the system"

The next part he talks about the foreclosure crisis and speaks to people who are late on their house payments and just have given up on it. (second coming foreclosure crisis)

I like how he slyly asks "can't figure out what I'm implying?". Most people wouldn't, but Im sure many of us here do.

Lupe Fiasco is trying wake up the masses, as are many more rappers bands and musicians (Muse comes to mind). So please do not belittle rap because in your mind it may be inconsequential. It is America's #1 music form by the way

And now that I have posted this I have seen more comments that you have written on this thread. You are so focused on the gansta rap you refuse to see the treasure that rap can be even when it is layed out right in front of you.

Do you think poetry has no use either? Because RAP stands for RHYTHM AND POETRY.

Start to looks at rap as a WHOLE not just what you hear when you turn on your top 40 radio station under your bridge, because you my friend are undoubtedly a troll

but seriously OP, those are some wack artists you mentioned for the most part.

Oh and Public Enemy too.

I've been listening to Jedi Mind Tricks a lot lately, and they are definitely not dumbing down the masses. I actually wouldn't be surprised if Vinnie Paz reads this website considering the content he speaks about.

For the record - there is a lot of awful rap out there (Soulja Boy??) but like any genre of music, there are many people who create music from the heart and not to make money.

Another great example is Mos Def. Listen to the lyrics of this song, and tell me it's not enlightening:

or this one talkin about central banks:
