I used to read tarot a lot. Lots of time with lots of decks. I could have charged for readings. I even did internet readings for people I never even
met. Had a deck with me at the bar (The chicks really dug it), even my friends that think this sort of thing is silly and laugh at it would come see
me when nobody was looking. Thing is I NEVER volunteered to do a reading for someone, there was always someone present who asked me to do it.
Anyway I started carrying a deck around because frankly it made me feel good that people wanted a skill I had. I really never thought I was that good
at it. Eventually I was convinced. I got cocky and really bad at it soon afterwards.
So you might be asking yourself: "Where is this guy going with this story?"
Good question!
Thats when I decided the symbolism linked to a bunch of and I was going to kick it's A. I soon realized I was fighting myself.
Well in a battle against the self you hold all the cards, and utilizing the Tarot for ceremony and divination is all about you. I got pretty good
again... Better than I was before but a little crazier.
It is from this place I found that I was alone. I was young and didn't know better so I thought I would like to not be alone. Utilizing the Lovers in
Ceremony I envisioned who would be the perfect counterpart and gal dang if it didn't work! -- An aside, I just had a typo and typed "42" Not
really possible but it happened none-the-less. This is important by the way --
Either way over the next four or so years I learned this important lesson...
The Devil is the Lovers, the Lovers is the Devil. They both offer us balance and harmony. Neither truly traps. One however appeals to the animal, one
appeals to the higher mind. Neither is truly bad, but neither is truly good.
Recall that the lesson of the Devil happens late in the journey. It is the lesson of the Lovers for those who are further along the path. It is really
the last lesson in the fools journey. Here he can stop. As he has found contentment and reward.
What happens if you still push? Look to the 16th lesson, Card 16 and you will see that the Sun, Moon, and Stars have been opened to you to eventually
be one with your world... You don't choose the 16th lesson. It choses you.
Anyway I'm sure I'll get ripped a new one for this story but at least I hope it helps you to see what I meant.
