Cannabis could be used to treat epilepsy

www.telegraph.co.uk

Researchers at the University of Reading have discovered that three compounds found in cannabis leaves can help to reduce and control seizures in epilepsy.

They are now using extracts from the plants grown in huge industrial-sized greenhouses in the south of England to develop new drugs that could ease the misery of millions of epilepsy sufferers around the world. In the UK alone there are more than 500,000 people who suffer from epilepsy.

As WC Fields used to say, I only use the stuff medicinally, and I've been feeling a little under the weather for many years now. or something like that...

Seriously, this is good news for real people, and more bad news for the war on drugs. Can we give the authorities something better to do with their time now?

Mmmmm 'huge industrial-sized greenhouses' *homer_drool*

On a similar subject I've heard very good things about this documentary:

What if Cannabis Cured Cancer

I'd love to think that governments and society are getting closer to turning around on this sort of thing - but realistically I just don't see it happening. It feels like a similar atmosphere to the whole disclosure argument, in that the longer you've been deceiving someone harder it is to finally come clean. The longer this charade goes on, the less chance there is of any real change.

But that could just be my cynicism kicking in - perhaps more idealistic people are more hopeful...

OMG!

I don't mean to go "off topic" on your legit post post Yankee451, but I need to share this with you and everyone else that reads your thread.

I hit Google and entered this search: Medicinal Effects of Marijuana

The top hit was, as suspected, an advertisement from www.abovetheinfluence.com.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't resist clicking on it.

They have this "balloon" with interesting factoids about marijuana use.

You sitting down Yankee451? Good! Read and laugh out loud...

Marijuana is addictive. More teens are in treatment with a primary diagnosis of marijuana dependence than for all other illicit drugs combined.

Yup! Heavily addictive. It's true! Would the government lie to you on such a matter?

Heavy marijuana use impairs young people's ability to concentrate and retain information.

I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention. What was that?

Marijuana is addictive. More teens are in treatment with a primary diagnosis of marijuana dependence than for all other illicit drugs combined.

For the love of God! This is a joke isn't it?

Nope!

This is the "information" our friends in the anti-marijuana battle have to offer.

[url]http://www.abovetheinfluence.com/facts/drugs-marijuana.aspx?utm_campaign=paid-search&utm_source=google&utm_medium=search&utm_content=marijuana#[/ url]

(Why do so many links I add won't work is beyond me. Just go to the above and you'll see what I mean.)

LOL!!!

For crying out loud! If you really want to be threatened by a pot-smoker then stash your Thin Mints cookies you bought from your friendly neighborhood Girl Scouts. Because these folks want them. They want them real bad!

(Could an ATS member please fry up a tasty egg and claim that's somebody's brain on weed?)

Whoa! You got Doritos on-hand? Buddy, you better stash them and damn quick to boot! Because those criminal marijuana-smokers are totally eye-balling them. (Are they Ranch-flavored Doritos? If so, double your problems cuz them suckas are crazy tasty.)

The whole idea that a marijuana smoker is any kind of threat to an everyday sort of person is total and 100% B.S.

Cheers!

I remember watching "Reefer Madness" just before Cheech and Chong's "Up in Smoke". I think that was my first conscious exposure to propaganda...sounds like the same folks now have a website.

Translation: Stimulating the pineal gland impairs young peoples' ability to be brainwashed.

Okay, now that's funny...what is their treatment? A happy meal and a nap? I love that...primary diagnosis. HAHA...do doctors really diagnose that? Most of the doctors I know would want a hit.

Seriously though, do they consider alcohol "illicit"? How about Prozac, or any number of ADHD drugs kids are addled with? Is Fluoride "illicit"?

Even if they are telling the truth and that really is the "primary diagnosis", maybe its because cannabis is a weed and anyone can grow it, thereby making it easier to get than the government-supplied weed, smack and crack coc aine was back in the day...but I digress.

There use to be a documentary on Viemo titled "What if Cannabis Cured Cancer?", but was taken down. The film discussed how beneficial this Herb is for us and how we use to depend so heavily on it.,,up till the 1900s when big pharma came along..

Want to totally blow your mind Nobama?

There was a PBS documentary that discussed all the advantages to Marijuana some time ago. It would BLOW YOU AWAY!

Ranging from our Founding Fathers' documents were written on "hemp", to how the seeds from the marijuana plant are incredibly healthy and highly sustainable.

Wish I could provide a link, but that was years ago. I wouldn't lie. This show did exist.

Cannabis could be used for over 100 diseases.

Granny Storm Crow
is one dedicated person who has listed and documented how the use of Cannabis can help aid in anything from chronic pain to migraines and from anorexia to multiple sclerosis.

If cannabis wasn't illegal there would be MANY more studies done to further investigate it's healing properties.

Yup too bad there isn't a market place for our Herb, so it's made illegal and Big Pharma continues pushing these terrible pills and medicine.

Honestly it fixes so many problems with peoples social bs that it kind of makes it worthwhile, don't you think?

Like for example: if you was stoned right now, you wouldn't care about contradicting anyone.
