It does seem like a plot to make sure people buy only government food.Maybe those toxins they're spraying in the air are help to kill off crops too.

If you destroy the food in the oceans people will have to get their food from somewhere else..this is where the government would come in saying they're breeding fish elsewhere is case of emergencies.

And the radiation could help destroy crops all over the world..except for the government convenient underground seed plants come in.So everybody will have no choice but to BUY instead of growing your own food..can't have people growing their own food now can we?Businesses will go out of business because of that...Multi-million dollar business too. Can't have people supplying their own food...because then they wouldn't need the government!

I wonder what ridiculous excuse they will come up with about why they are dying?

Trauma caused by wave action, fireworks, hail stones initiating a death dealing vibration through the water, a localised toxic spill from a Mexican fish cannery, startled by the flash on tourists cameras or traffic noise from a nearby road all seem like perfectly logical possible causes of the deaths of the unfortunate turtles, I'm sure Occam's razor will dictate that one of the above will be the cause.

thats the downfall of Occam's. what it states is that we shall explain things only in terms of the familiar no matter how absurd, thus preventing us from ever learning anything new...

This is definately not good...This is a byproduct of a marine ecosystem that is in dire straits...Alot of people in the gulf depend on it for their very existence. Odds are favourable that it is a chemical toxin from the BP oil spill but it could be some new virus caused by the dumping of other wastes into the gulf. Remember that they are trying to clean up Haiti and alot of that is being dumped into the gulf. Nonetheless, a sick ocean means bad times ahead for Humans. I'm not liking what is happening. We could be watching the not so slow poisoning of our children with this and what is happening with the nuclear situation in Japan along with the clean up of the earthquake as well...Don't be eating any seafood from any Ocean right now!!!!

I'm pretty sure he was joking. But with all the excuses given about the bird and fish deaths I would not be surprised if they did use one of the excuses he mentioned instead of the most logical one.

Btw the camera flash one made me laugh

I agree. Why can't the stupid government types just learn three simple words... "I DON'T KNOW."

if all this is not evidence enough for mankind to shift to green and free energy sources i don't know what would be.

Hmmm, my environmental class professor in college gave up doing any kind of real environmental work in the field (and became a college professor instead) because the corporations and government would always take the results from the hard worked research and twist them any which way they wanted to suit their goals...hard to be a hero when you're just feeding the corrupt hands with all your hard work...

Hi, I almost never post on ATS but I've been reading it for over a year. On the issue of the BP spill, I am a documentary filmmaker and I've been following it since it happened. I can assure you, there is a massive cover up taking place, I can't even begin to tell you how Mainstream Media resources are quelling the story of what's really happening down here. All the affected states, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida are aggressively targeting tourists to come to the coast, eat seafood and swim in the ocean.....if you do, please understand that you're not being told the truth about the Gulf. There are many, many sick people down here and the illnesses range from minor respiratory symptoms to death...yes death.

What's going on is a very complicated issue, because many of the fisherman are afraid to speak...this is their livelihood and they know BP is not going to continue to compensate them for destruction of the Gulf ecology. They must work and sell their product but I have personally spoken to shrimpers who will not eat their own product. If you read the article carefully, you will note that NOAA claimed the turtle deaths are due to shrimper nets. That is ridiculous, the shrimp season hasn't even started.

The government entities, state/federal - NOAA, Unified Area Command (Coast Guard), are in complete compliance with the cover up. Scientists have been bought out by BP....local and national media have been bought out by BP. The public has no idea what is going on down here.

I would offer this video interview as an example of one out of hundreds, if not thousands, of similar stories:

Clayton Matherne interview

I'm sure I will get attacked for posting this, especially on a conspiracy website...but this is a real conspiracy and people need to know.

Its things like this that really scare me... Will my children be able to see the worlds natural beauty before we rip it from its foundations? Ive always wanted to see some of the wonderful natural places in this world, its amazing how beautiful the world is when absent of the human touch..

With all the chemicals that are being released into the ocean lately I fear for the animals that call it home, how long will it be until we consider the oceans our own personal waste dump... I cant help shake the feeling that in the not so distant future I will be telling my children stories of a "blue" ocean that was once diverse with life, now only occupied by waste and garbage..

BP is surly no angel, but they got the job done.

Whatever is left Japan dumping the radioactive waste in sea could finish off.

When you get down to it, all of this is because we love our cars and trucks so much.
Who isn't guilty in that regard?

BP could have been more responsible, and not have cut costs... The gov't could have been better at enforcing regulation... But where does the money come from that keeps BP in business and allowing them to bribe lobby congress and have regulators give them a pass?

And it's not just BP, elsewhere in the world, other oil companies are doing quite a bit to mess up the environment. The whole industry cuts corners. It's toxic for the planet.

Switch cars to natural gas? Hope you don't have any well water. Fracking isn't such a nice process, and it sort of sounds like what they're doing to those who may use nearby aquifers.

Switch to battery powered electric? Sure. But then it'd be strip-mining for lithium and all its effects.

What can we do to be better stewards of the environment? Sierra Club, Greenpeace, etc...? Nice, but is it enough? For all the recycling and conservation efforts, it only takes one bad player to make a mess on a planetary scale. If humanity goes the way of the dinosaurs, it's probably not going to be a space rock this time around.

As a person who has had the honor of releasing turtle hatchlings into the ocean in Florida, I have to say that some of these insensitive comments making the BP Oil Spill as a trivial situation sickens me. The consequences of the doctrine of "Drill Baby, Drill!, has now manifested itself.

Good job humanity, I hope you are proud of yourself.

Cheers...

I think these animals are definitely sensing something iscoming such as a BIG earthquake.Jim Berkland mentioned that before the world series earthquake occured, animal beachings had occurred during that time and only that time,so with the Sardines in Redondo Beach and now the turtle which is very sad, I think its a sign of something huge to come. Everyone should prepare and pray that nothing happens. God Bless.

Each one of us individually is responsible for what has happened. Our insatiable appetite for oil and consumerism, has created the existence of greedy corporations who rush in to fill the demand of a mindless monster we call humanity.

We are a nation of lazy, apathetic, self-indulgent, narcissistic people, who have taken no responsibility for what is occurring to our beautiful, living planet. Now, nature has declared war upon us and in the end she will win and we will lose. She is endeavoring to wipe out the blood-sucking parasites off her back and what we are seeing on a global scale right now is a massive cleansing, and our future extinction.

Why do you have to have the newest cell phone out there? Who has convinced you that you must have it? You are so mind-controlled by the garbage, advertisers spew at you and what the media and Hollywood tell you. The young people are a mindless lost generation and they are a direct reflection of the stupid, shallow parents who have raised them. Think I am wrong? Just scroll any topic on these boards and read the insensitive comments made by people who think they are funny. Funny? How about sociopathic, psychopathic. I am no geneticist, but it is only obvious that this gene pool cannot continue.

Frankly, I am on the side of nature. Wake up people, we are past the eleventh hour. These people you see suffering in the Gulf region are YOU. Don't you get it?

Forgive my tirade, I am sickened right now by the culture I sprung from. I know there are good people out there, but perhaps just not enough to make a difference.

You are right on with all your ranting!

I agree that we will in the dawn of Mother Earth cleansing herself and there is nothing we can do. Only thing I can say is there are some that will survive but thank Mother Earth it's not one of us adult parasites, as we would only do it again.

Knowing does suck but it's our own damn fault. Humanity is the biggest failure on this planet yet we have to take most of the wildlife with us.

This is really sad. Very upsetting. But it makes you think - there is so much pollution out there, any wonder the animals are dying off. The worst part is that we are really, when you think about it, not doing anything about it. We continue to pollute and kill off those that are needed in our lives, the animals...
Sad indeed.
