The only "negatives" are the loss of power and influence that congress critters would suffer. Manipulating the current tax code is a source of much power and income for them. They will never allow us to go to either a flat tax or the even better "fair tax". FairTax.org

Why is this not a serious consideration? I have heard this idea a few times over the last 6 or 7 years and though I haven't researched it too much, what are the serious negatives to it?
