Oh, if only the neighbors had guns and balls. I wonder how it would have went down had a militia surrounded the police and demanded they leave the area...
I can hear where you're going with this and I would be willing to go that route for a different cause, not over a basketball goal that I could easily replace. Things would get real ugly if people came out armed. I would prefer to fight or have a shootout over something more important.

Look what our government is doing to other countries right now. do you think they really care about our wellbeing? I hope the good that still exist in our government overthrow the other 95% of them that are in direct violation in there oath to the constitution

Probably a deed restricted community and the basketball hoop owner didn't bother reading the restrictions.
I chalk this up to a big fat who cares.

In Delaware the road easement is 10 feet and they have been telling people for the past year that everyone had to move things back 7 feet from the road. As much as I hate to say this but even though you own the property you just can't do whatever you want on a road easement because the government sees it as their property. Besides drivers what with their cell phones and texting just aren't as alert as they were 60 years ago so do your kid a favor and get the goal off of the street. But it was bs the way they were taking the goals they had a backhoe right there it would have been nothing to move the goals for the people.
