Being a parent and having a daughter of my own had I said how I truly felt I wouldn't be a member here anymore. I would have violated many of T and C guidelines.

Yes I agree.

They know it's wrong and abhorrent but they don't care, they do it anyway then try to cover up so they themselves can escape justice.

If it weren't for the girl's mother going to the authorities no-one would be any wiser. And now the parents are at risk of reprisals for dropping the elders in it.

I wonder if the elders will want to be tried under Sharia law.

This poor girl. I hope she finds peace wherever she may be now.

This crap is insane! What do those people drink over there? Is their water contaminated or something. This is just wrong on so many levels. She was RAPED and then victimized again!

These stupid religions and their laws are so wrong. I have no problem with people believing in what they want to believe but these kinds of laws and rules are just wrong on so many levels when it goes to this length.

It even talks about the prosecution of the doctors who ruled her death a suicide. From the CNN article in the OP.

Monday, the doctors responsible for Hena's first autopsy faced prosecution for what a court called a "false post-mortem report to hide the real cause of Hena's death."

Public outrage sparked by that autopsy report prompted the high court to order the exhumation of Hena's body in February. A second autopsy performed at Dhaka Medical College Hospital revealed Hena had died of internal bleeding and her body bore the marks of severe injuries. Police are now conducting an investigation and have arrested several people, including Mahbub Khan, in connection with Hena's death.

The guy who committed the crime was sentenced to 201 lashes - but somehow managed to escape with only a few.

How does a 14 yr old be charged with adultery in the first place? By being married, at 14?? It's wrong from the get go but that's my bias I guess. I don't claim to understand the cultures from around the world that dictate these types of punishments but boy, they make my stomach turn something fierce.

If you had read the article, it wasn't she who was married, it was the rapist who was married, both people were charged with adultery.

The whole situation is effed up, don't get me wrong. But the wife of the rapist found them and beat the girl's behind?! So...you see a girl being raped (or just having been raped) and as a woman, you beat the girl instead of your degenerate of husband. I don't want to hear about her being scared of her husband, or anything similar, because she brought the girl back to her family's home, I'm sure the wife could have found more than few recruits to beat the guy to bloody pulp.

The rapist, the imam, the elders, the doctors I hope will burn for their sins. I have the same biased, normally. Ironically, my daughter came home today informing me that an eighth grader is pregnant by another eighth grader .

I don't think that a 14 year old can really make those types of decisions, meaning they don't understand the consequences be it pregnancy, std's, etc. But I accept other cultures are different than my own . Rape is rape though, there was nothing statutory about this case and I hope he suffers as much, if not more than she did, when both crimes were committed against her.

I accept other cultures treat their children differently but child development says that all humans go through stages of physio/socio/emotional developmental stages and that's the part that has me leaning towards this is a 14 yr old girl! She's a minor child in my eyes and the adults around her have the responsibility to protect her. She didn't deserve to die such a slow, miserable tortuous death heaped upon her after the rape she experienced. May she be in peace.

A couple of billion $ worth of Tomahawk missiles should solve the problem!!

When it comes to death,i feel happy,she is with god and the angels ,and thats better then where she was at the time,it was her time ,and god led her distination to that point so she could come home.

Im not the judge and creator,dont be mad at me,ask god why he clled her home.
