Family fears ghostly visitors

A British family has called in ghost hunters after being driven out of their "horror house" by what they fear is a poltergeist.

The family claim a catalogue of bizarre events the read like a collection of scenes from every scary movie - but they insist they all happened and they have the video to prove it.

Lisa Manning say she and her children Ellie, 11, and Jaydon, six, and her partner Anthony have fled their several times, according to a report in Britain's Daily Mail newspaper.

They include pots and pans being thrown around the kitchen, window blinds moving up and down by themselves, lights being switched on and off and drawers being opened.

Last week they were even forced to climb out of a window after being trapped in their living room when the door locked by itself, the paper reported.

Miss Manning, 34, installed hidden cameras in a bid to capture the ghostly events.

The 52-second clip shows a wardrobe door opening before a pink swivel chair moves slowly backwards towards the wall, the paper said.

Hard to tell whether this video is authentic, but it appears to be. The activity caught on tape is impressive and perhaps is the work of a poltergeist. The story mentions some scary stuff but this is the only video footage that I know of.

What do other members think about this video?

Creepy

With me, I’ll only believe in ghosts or paranormal activities if i experience it for myself. I'm not judging people whom may have claimed they have been in contact with ghosts.

Hard to say. Ghosts intrigue me, but they're one part of the paranormal where I think I would have to see an entity myself to truly believe. The first thing I thought when I saw this was both the door and the chair move from left to right so someone off camera could of been manipulating them with fishing line or some such.

Thanks for story.

Its prepubescent Ellie.
All poltergeist manifestations always involve preteens. Its something to do with the brain chemistry with the pre teen. Whether it is the pre teen manifesting it or an entity that has been attracted to the child's changing energy as they move from child to teen.
So it doesn't matter where the family goes, they will still have their unwanted visitor until puberty hits Ellie.

I'd say it's true. I've only ever seen one "ghost" and I can assure people they do indeed exist.

Just because you can't see them doesn't mean they're not there. Your "visible light spectrum" is determined by your own body's vibration. It's worth studying how light waves react when they strike matter. The vibration of the matter itself plays a big part in how the light wave reacts when it strikes it.

Light will either be absorbed, reflected or transmitted. If it is transmitted, the object will be invisible.

That's interesting.

A friend of mine told me of people he knew that had a very violent poltergeist problem, and it involved their preteen daughter.

Do you believe Ghosts can interact in our physical world, though? If so, how come their interaction always seems to be so limited?

This particular video doesn't convince me.
It is a bit too convenient that we can't see if there is someone in that closet, in the right corner, who could push the inner edge of the door
nor can we see the legs of the chair and floor, in case there's some string
or that there is a pile of
"who knows what"
against that wall, towards which the chair moves

won't say it ain't
but keepin' my butt on the fence this time......

Fair enough. But you have to remember that it might just be how the camera was set up. To get it set up so all angles and sides are perfect is no simple task - especially when it is a "hidden" camera as well.

Interesting.
It seems most cases of poltergeists involve preteen girls.
As i said , i still dont know if it is the child manifesting this as the energy as they change into an adult,or
whether it is an actual spirit or entity.
I just now there is something happening., and its very very interesting

That video is very unconvincing. It shows absolutely nothing that couldn't be done without two strings of wire. I think I actually heard the line on the chair snap at the end of the vid... My guess is the ropes were pulled a little to hard by the person you can hear coughing, because if he wasn't handling the ropes he would have hand-held the cam don't you think?

It is an interesting story. The video I see a couple of things thatsend up Red flags for me.

1. You cannot see the very bottums of the cabinet door. That always makes me suspicious. Someone take tape string to the bottom and pull it at the right time, the low view were string could be is not visable.

2. The chair has the same issues, so again if someone wanted to get over, the lower part of the chair is out of camera view.

3. There is alot of noise.
from 0:02---0:10 Dragging and scraping sounds.
@ 0:15 something drop, land and do a circular rotation sound
@ 0:31 knock
@ 0:32 knock
@ 0:36 low talking/ someone clearing there throat
@ 0:42 low talking

I would be very carful if I was called into investigate this place. There are people out there who will try to fool you. They will fake hauntings for any number of reasons.

Their dog getting killed is strange to say the least..

Dogs don't fall down stairs and die usually.., they don't usually fall down stairs to begin with..

It sounds like there is plenty of testimony from these people, and so I would think it wouldn't be a hoax if all these family members are telling their experiences..

I'm sure a prayer or two wouldn't hurt either..

Not necessarily true. I had this kind of activity in my bedroom when I was 18 years old. Not pre-teen. I saw things move around exactly like the video shows. This was back in 1976. Also heavy footsteps walking around and around with no one visible.

Many other things too, like someone sitting on the bed, pictures flying off the wall etc...

I cant tell if its real or not because I cant see the bottom of the door or the bottom of the chair leg
( Were The String Is Tied )

I believe in ghosts/paranormal but that footage was a bit poor to be fair - It was very convenient It happened straight in front of the webcam & set so you could not see the floor. If there really is that much activity you would set the camera up so that people could not easily dismiss the footage

Seriously Though the link - www.thesun.co.uk...

says the dog (A 12 Year Old Staffie) was also " Pushed Down The Stairs ". Believe me it is much more likely that the old dog fell down the stairs, with it being old and I know from having a few staffie's that the back legs play up something wicked (un - intentional pun), especially when they get older.

My Opinion - Fake, trying to get money of the paper for nothing (P.S. Thought I Would Mention I Hate The Sun Newspaper, Obviously, "Hillsborough" )

I do not doubt that those things happened to you.
But it wasnt a poltergeist.
Poltergeist activity manifests itself around pre teens. Always has.
What you experienced is a haunting in my opinion, and its not a poltergeist.
I beleive you and your encounters. I have had many similar ones to the ones that you have had. .
And I still continue to experience strange happenings like yours, and i have since i was a child, and have so every month of my life and i am 33.
You were haunted if you were past puberty it wasn't a poltergeist.

Ps. I will post a thread about my experiences soon

If that is real it's better than anything seen on Ghosthunters, lol.

It's impossible to say from the video since you can't see the bottom of the door or the chair. They could easily be pulled by string or someone laying down on the floor.

Interesting story... I have been a believer in ghosts ever since my my family moved into a haunted house when I was 11. Doors would open and you could see shadows dart around and stuff. SO I believe the claims could very well be true.

That being said, the video does not do any justice for their case. I too her alot of noise during the video. Most of the knocking and scraping could be from the "ghost" but as far as the throat clearing, that kinda gave it away. I would like to see a follow up though.
