Nostradamus Quatrain on the Japan Quake - Decoded

Interesting thread. I never tought of the link between Nostradamus predictions and what recently happened to Japan. Makes me wonder what else could it means. Links for your sources of infos would be great even tough I don't discredit your knowledge on the subject.

No. I don't need to. You presented claims in a public forum and we'll find out if your claims can withstand basic scrutiny and skepticism. Applying due skepticism is not "trolling", though your backhanded ad hominems probably are. How about instead you actually address the scrutiny and skepticism instead of calling me names and telling me to go away?

I have never liked Hogues translations. He is all over the place.

Nostradamus had clear rules to his anagrams. If you read his letters to his sons it will clarify everything enormously. Basically it is this: you allow one new letter replacement (or drop) and one or two switched letters. But you need to follow the old french translations. That is much easier today than when I started looking into this.

Now, the second Quatrain I mentioned that is to complete the prophecy on Japan states that Japan will be totally shunned - in comparing Japan to Letos (Latona) story. Not only shunned, but moved to a land that is not connected with any other land. It's that bad - and that is chilling.

It's always so easy to predict the future when it's finally in the past.......

There was a great book on Nostradamus that was published in 1983 by , Jean Dupèbe: Nostradamus: Lettres inédites. It contains his letters - indispensable to doing any study.

Also study the pagan calendar that sets the end of March as the start of the New Year.

Also study medieval astrology and what the signs meant and looked like then. For example; Cancer was not always 'the Crab'. It was a 'Mule at a Feeding Trough' back then.

Those things are critical to understanding.

Also get all of Erika Cheethams books. I don't necessarily agree with all of her translations- but she does have the original french alongside the english and that is helpful.

I'm sure since you seem to know that Nostradamus couldn't have possible predicted anything then you also know that he was forbidden by death to write is predictions by the current authorities as it undermined their power. You would also know that in order evade the authoritative rule he wrote his predictions in a script like fashion that only those who understood his thought pattern could possibly decipher. If you're going to use skepticism as a tool at least attempt debunk the possibilities. Try to understand his writings and what he's trying to say in his quatrains before outright dismissing them.

Personally, I can't say whether or not he's correct or incorrect because I wasn't living during the times he wrote them therefore I couldn't possibly think in the same manner as his audience. He dabbled heavily into black magic and paganism which is something he would have been hung for in his times.

If Tokyo is abandoned- there will be no soldiers left there. This q relates to a vast war situation.

You need to look at the placement of the preceding quatrains sometimes as well. This particular one fits within the WW2 Framework. I always considered this to be of Berlin - and the 'one offense' being Hitler committing suicide. If he had not and we had not found the body we were going to raze Berlin to the dust, brick by brick. Nothing would have been spared.

And in reference to research, I am talking about people who do scientific and other research- I do Nostradamus research myself from an interest in all world events, science, history, etc.

This quatrain is a mix of Latin, Italian and French.
That means it is written for a 'man of letters' - of high education. And it explains that his writings are not for the barbarian herd. That his writings will only be understood by someone who has education in all of the areas of language and sciences of mathematics, astronomy, alchemy and spirituality.

Let those who read this (these) verse consider it profoundly (thoughtfully),
Let the profane and ignorant herd stay far away;
And far away all Astrologers, Idiots and Barbarians,
May he who does otherwise be subject to the sacred rite.

"Subject to the sacred rite" suggests the initiation into a mystery school.

well it could also be the Chernobyl disaster, or some future event, but you do see it could fit with current event as well, i am still trying to figure out how you got japan out of C10Q6.

Very interesting thread. Even though Nostradamus is difficult to interpret, it is interesting to see how close he comes several situations.

Concerning the original posting, I found a bit about the Japanese mythology. The earthquake was caused by the movements by the giant catfish, Namazu, who in quiet times was tamed by the man Kadori who beat the catfish with a gourd. When he failed to do this, the earth shook. But, according to the mythology, an earthquake could be caused by a giant beetle, a dragonlike creature:

EARTHQUAKE FISH or NAMAZU or JISHINUWO. This is the catfish to which earthquakes are due; the creature has a body like an eel, a large flattened head, and long feelers on both sides of its mouth, it lies with its tail under the provinces of Shimosa and Hidachi, and when angry, wriggles about, shaking the foundations of Japan. A large stone rests on its back, the Kaname Ishi, protruding in the garden of the temple of the God KASHIMA DAIMIOJIN (Takemika Tsuchi no Mikoto). This stone goes deep into the bowels of the earth, it is the rivet (Kaname) which binds the world together : when KASHIMA and KADORI MIOJIN came from Heaven to subdue the world, Kashima thrust his sword through the earth, the mighty blade shrank and became the Kaname Ishi which Kashima alone can move. Kadori Miojin is Futsu Nuchi no Mikoto, he has a gourd, and with that gourd and the help of Kadori, this God keeps the fish quiet. Mitsukuni, Daimio of Mito, grandson of Tokugawa leyasu, with a Saint Thomas bent of mind, had the earth dug around the Kaname Ishi, but his men could not get at the base of it. Kadori and his gourd, hugging the Namazu, is sometimes a subject for artistic treatment. His efforts are little thought of if one believes the proverbial sentence : A Gourd against a Namazu (meaning useless effort) alluding to the slipping of the gourd on the fish's skin.

Earthquakes are also attributed to a beetle, named the JISHIN MUSHI or Earth- quake beetle, with a dragon's head, ten legs like spider's and a scaly body, which is supposed to live deep under the earth.

I do not know how these prophecies came to Nostradamus but if he was given them in visions, is it possible that he misinterpreted the names: Gardon - Kadori and Nemans - Namazu?

I missed this post somehow- and very much appreciate the information as it is even further confirmation.

Another thing that, sadly, has proven true in the prophecy translation is that men through their inadequacy and greed would make the situation 10 times worse.
Who could ever have thought that technological giants such as the Japanese could screw something up this badly?

Yes, déborderont means overflowing, primarily concerning liquids. But it can also serve as an image. Both ways, the image is striking.

I fail to see where you get that Japan will be victim of another Tsunami. It seems to me that the double reference to fire, plus its "appearing" to be extinguished would seem to indicate that the nuclear problem would reoccur after believing it was contained.

Are there other quatrains that relates to this one and that you have studied?

It was reported to be contained before it exploded.
